Judge Land’s hard on Orly Taitz, Esq. It’ll cost her $20,000

orly

Orly Taitz

U.S. District Court Judge Clay Land, in Columbus, has come down hard on birther attorney Orly Taitz, fining her $20,000 for willfully abusing her right to practice law. I suspect Taitz won’t have that right much longer. (h/t Washington Independent)

“The Court finds that counsel’s conduct was willful and not merely negligent. It demonstrates bad faith on her part. As an attorney, she is deemed to have known better. She owed a duty to follow the rules and to respect the Court. Counsel’s pattern of conduct conclusively establishes that she did not mistakenly violate a provision of law. She knowingly violated Rule 11. Her response to the Court’s show cause order is breathtaking in its arrogance and borders on delusional.”

My only quibble with the good judge is his use of the phrase “borders on delusional.” This is the full Monty of delusion, and I suppose the poor, deluded fools who support this woman will rush to defray her fine.

Meanwhile, the judge’s 43-page opinion is available below for those who care to entertain themselves.

“Her response to the Court’s show cause order is breathtaking in its arrogance and borders on delusional” could this not be said for the entire conservative movement these days. Any rational person that looks at the Birthers, Tenthers, Tea Baggers, Beckers and Obama derangement syndrome afflicted it is quite easy to see the conservative movement has been boiled down to sore losers, whiners and nuts. The fact that President Obama’s poll numbers are going UP must really drive them further insane.

Rollergirl, Judge Land was appointed by Bush on the advise of Saxby Chambliss and has been very conservative. One of the resaons Taitz brought this to him was she thought he would rule in her favor. It’s time for Orly to shut down the printing press in her basement that is cranking out fake evidence before she runs into a perjury citation.

The so-called conservatives need attorneys like this to defend their positions in court.
It appears to be indicative of the extreme and unsupported positions some will take to prove President Obama has not been elected to office with valid qualification credentials.

This position gives those who have no other position a reason to hope. Hope is good!

Many of those that support her position will contribute money to help her pay for the financial sanctions imposed by the judge. She will go back to court again with the same argument and will be sanctioned more heavily the next time.

The circular firing squad will continue to grow.

Born to raise troop levels:

“Support Troops Swelling U.S. Force in Afghanistan”

Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, October 13, 2009

President Obama announced in March that he would be sending 21,000 additional troops to Afghanistan. But in an unannounced move, the White House has also authorized — and the Pentagon is deploying — at least 13,000 troops beyond that number, according to defense officials.

I’ve a few pages to go, but I left it with my wife last night so she could keep her mind occupied.

I do enjoy the ideas presented. There’s a wonderful exposition towards the end on the similarities of religions, how those in power misinterpret and misuse ideas, how some things transcend man-made constructs and can serve as an enlightening and unifying force.

But as we see here, too many get wrapped up in dogma – religious, scientific, political – and miss the mark.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court will consider throwing out the convictions of former Enron Chief Executive Officer Jeff Skilling for his role in the collapse of the one-time energy giant.

The court said Tuesday it will hear Skilling’s appeal of lower court rulings that upheld all 19 of his 2006 convictions of conspiracy, securities fraud, insider trading and lying to auditors involving the 2001 collapse of Enron.

Skilling, serving a 24-year prison term, is asking the court to consider whether the federal “honest services” fraud statute was applied correctly. The justices already have two other cases on their schedule dealing with the honest services law, a favorite tool of federal prosecutors in white-collar crime and public corruption cases.

A message from the White House for several bookman bloggers-

Those tensions reached a new blogospheric boiling point over the weekend, after CNBC’s John Harwood quoted an anonymous White House adviser’s reaction to the “Internet left fringe.” The adviser, Harwood said, told him that “those bloggers need to take off the pajamas, get dressed and realize that governing a closely divided country is complicated and difficult.”

“Counsel’s frivolous and sanctionable conduct wasted the Defendants’ time and valuable judicial resources that could have been devoted to legitimate cases pending with the Court. When she filed the Rhodes case, counsel indicated that it was urgent that the matter be heard because her client was facing imminent deployment. The Court rearranged its schedule, took time to read the legal papers, and conducted preliminary research in preparation for the hearing. The Army had to activate its legal team on short notice, sending a Major from the Army Litigation Division in Washington, D.C. and a Captain from the CONUS Replacement Center at Ft. Benning. In addition, the Assistant U.S. Attorney had to accompany them. Like the Court, the government attorneys had to prepare in an expedited manner for the hearing. During the week preceding Captain Rhodes’s deployment, the Court was in the midst of a jury trial. Therefore, the Court had to alter the trial schedule to conduct the hearing during an extended lunch break, thus affecting other counsel and jurors. The Clerk’s Office was burdened by Ms. Taitz’s inability to follow the Court’s rules regarding pro hac vice admission and the Court’s rules for electronic filing. On five separate occasions in a short period, the Clerk’s Office personnel error-noticed counsel for her failure to follow simple rules. At the hearing, counsel failed to make coherent
legal arguments but instead wasted the Court’s time with press conference sound bites and speeches.”

It must suck to have had an attorney that incompetent. She’s been sued repeatedly for dental malpractice as well. Gee, there’s always that real estate license to fall back on.
