The first time I ever heard of Bruce Springsteen was freshman year at Penn State. Some kid from New Jersey brought up the name in a conversation, bragging that this Springsteen guy was going to be the biggest thing in rock and roll since Dylan and the Beatles.
Right, I thought. Because those Jersey guys would NEVER exaggerate, especially about Jersey things.
Then “Born to Run” came out, and they went and put the guy on the cover of Time magazine, and then on Wednesday the guy turned 60. Some other stuff may have happened in between, but I’m getting too old to remember.
(By the way, this guy shares a 9/23 birthday with Springsteen, and he’s pretty damn cool in his own right.)

I don’t know Bill, Darkness on the Edge of Town was pretty good, though a bit dreary. After that Bruce bit it big time. I do however think the song “Glory Days” may be very applicable to many of the 60’s progressives who hang out here. “Oh to live on, Sugar Mountain” so to speak.

Kyl: ‘I Don’t Need Maternity Care.’ Stabenow: ‘Your Mom Probably Did’
Just before the Senate Finance Committee wrapped up for the long weekend, members debated one of Sen. Jon Kyl’s (R-AZ) amendments, which would strike language defining which benefits employers are required to cover.
Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) argued that insurers must be required to cover basic maternity care. (In several states there are no such requirements.)
“I don’t need maternity care,” Kyl said. “So requiring that on my insurance policy is something that I don’t need and will make the policy more expensive.”
Stabenow interrupted: “I think your mom probably did.”
The amendment was defeated, nine to 14.
Here’s the deal. The Repubozos want to micromanage the pregnancy. But they don’t want insurance companies to pay for the care, and they are fine with throwing the baby in the dumpster after delivery.

It is easy for extremely rich musicians to be liberal AMVET. A grand in taxes to them means nothing. A grand in taxes to the average American is a burden. The real coup is that they identify themselves with “Regular” Americans and you saps fall for it. It’s easy to be liberal when you are rich.
What about Al Gore backing a company that builds hybrid cars which only the “rich” can afford (90 grand per car) and these car’s will be built in Finland? No American union jobs, just money for another Capitalistic company wanting to make money. Funny thing is, this company also just got a 500 million dollar grant from us American taxpayers to develop a car that is targeted for the rich. This global warming thing is great, isn’t it? From your ranting, you don’t seem to understand it at all. You are truly incapable of seeing any action from a Republican in anything but the most nefarious terms. In some cases, like your earlier rant about the post office, you just make stuff up about Republicans. In this way, you are quite like the “robots” that you drone on about. You see anyone who doesn’t share your party affiliation as a mortal enemy, just as the biggest Sean Hannity follower does. What a childish view of the world.
BTW: I am confident that you are as impressed with MSNBC as you are contemptuous of Fox. Hannity’s followers think the converse. In this way, you are quite like your mindless partisan brtehern on the right.

Then we got the Drug culture, the hippies and the communes and the DTs, working up to the Meth Culture. The first hope and change!!!!
But after rehab, methadone, clinics and many “stars” dead from overdose, it worked out OK. Some even became tax paying citizens, living through divorces, supporting several broods of kiddies and becoming vegetarians. Those still on their feet became Unitarian-Universalists .so their habits would not have to change. Others staggered into the sunset muttering… But I’m free!!!

There is no greater “robot” than anyone who really believes that their party holds any moral or ethical high ground over the other. Both parties are mirror images, using the same tactics and corrupted by the same lobbying system.
Thinking that your side has better policies than the other is rational. Thinking that your side is truly any better than the other is not.

Mike pure feces came out of your mouth. My point was insurance across state lines a,lows a stripped down sucker policy where no minimum state benefit packages have to be included. Fact #2 Joh Kyle tried it today.
Fact #3 It got shut down. Kyle tried to pass it this morning and he failed and his own party member voted against him.
New York Times/CBS News poll TODAY 9/25/09
The poll suggests that Mr. Obama is in a decidedly more commanding position than Republicans on this issue as Congressional negotiations move into their final stages. Most Americans trust Mr. Obama more than Republicans to make the right decisions on the issue; 76 percent said Republicans had not even laid out a clear health care plan.
And by a lopsided margin, respondents said that Mr. Obama and not Republicans had made an effort to cross party lines and strike a deal that has the support of both parties.
At 56 percent, Mr. Obama’s job approval rating is about par for a president at this point in a first term: Reagan had a 53 percent job approval rating, while Bill Clinton was at 43 percent.
And Americans think the economy is on the mend, while there has been a 15 point increase to 36 percent in the percentage of Americans who said Mr. Obama’s stimulus package has improved the economy.
Just 30 percent said they had a favorable view of Republicans in Congress. By contrast, 47 percent said they had a favorable view of Congressional Democrats.
The poll of 1,042 adults was conducted by telephone from Saturday through Wednesday. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

If you look at the pictures as the crowd disburses, there’s not a candy wrapper on the grass. I mean, these are the kind of best-behaved protesters ever to hit town. You contrast that with the G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh today, when the left wing protestors show up, and they’re having to board up all the stores, they’re having to board up all the local Starbucks and the rest of it, because these guys come to lob bricks through the windows. Instead of yammering Mike since you claim insurance X state lines has advantages has it ever ocurred to you to stop spewing peripheral tangential crap and simply point out how you are conrused that it saves any money whatsoever when it does nothing to insure state benefit packages are included and it does nothing to control insurance prices whatsoeffing ever. You seem to have forgotten that was the point. Forget about me, but you can’t. Forget about your penchant to reach out and grab some potential platitude for your party that’ over.
Just focus on insurance across state lines. But you can’t can you?
The other myth is that 250 grand caps have anything whatsoever to do with lowering insurance premiums or improving health care for anyone. RWJ study debunked that. Texas and the other states where it exists have shown no impact on anything but malpractice premiums which is good for us and does nothing for you.

Congress can pass legislation that permits postal layoffs and shutdown some of the 34000 postoffices. It can raise the borrowing limit for Potter to more than 3 billion. Hell we dumped hundreds of times that into the investment banks on Bush’s watch–Paulson–TARP.
Eliminate the $5 billion that Potter has to put aside for employee benefits for employees that don’t work there yet and may never be hired. That’s insane. As Nocera says “There isn’t another business in the country that finances benefits for employees it hasn’t even hired yet.”
Prefinancing benefits for future employees is just plain stupid. And it came from two Repubozo chairmen in 2006.
The amount of mail is going to continue to drop. But the post office isn’t in financial trouble because mail carriers are dumb; it’s because two powerful committee chairmen were–one that lies about death panels and is getting the crap beat out of him in his old commitee all week and next week–Grassley. Grassley wanted to run the post office like a small gravel switch town in podunk hickville Iowa. And he’s run it into the ground.

It’s official, the Republican party has just been declared a disaster.
From fat windbags like Republican party leader Rush Limbaugh, to one of the worst presidents ever, George W Bush, the party is in shambles. Sara Palin, birthers, and tea baggers, Haggard, Craig, Vitter, Sanford, Ensign, Beck. Getting totally hammered the last 2 national elections. Socialist part D Medicare. No ideas.
A disaster has been declared but its being totally ignored by those who can do something about it, party leaders. Reminds me of Katrina. The nuts in the party are being mislead. W was giving a speech the other day giving the room full of crazies a lot of false hope with his “Crazies, your doing a heck of a job,” line.
Whats needed most is a few sane conservatives to get us through this crisis. Please if you know of a good shrink we need them to man the evacuation centers where the crazy Republicans can be rounded up and tasered if necessary. If you know a birther, send him to a center asap. They need professional help. They may be carrying a gun.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming session.

Truthfully, it makes me sad that there are so many people like you on both sides who are so intolerant of other views, so ignorant and so hateful that you can even spew garbage like this. It speaks poorly of you as a person. Even if you were right, you would still be an extremely hateful person.

“It came out in 1983. Wrong again.”
In case some of you don’t realize sarcasm when you see it, please think of it like this: Everytime your girl says “I think you’re real handsome, cute and a good lover”; that’s sarcasm………

Sing a song of hypocrites, Republicans have been in an uproar recently over video footage of children at a New Jersey elementary school singing the praises of President Barack Obama. The outrage has been fueled mainly by a constant drumbeat from conservative media. But on Friday it boiled over into the realm of political opportunism when the Republican National Committee sent out a fundraising appeal calling the episode an “indoctrination of our nations… children” and “fanaticism.”
“Friend,” RNC Chairman Michael Steele wrote, “this is the type of propaganda you would see in Stalin’s Russia or Kim Jong Il’s North Korea. I never thought the day would come when I’d see it here in America.”
Alas, such “propaganda” has not been limited to despots, dictators and the Obama White House. As a savvy source points out, back in 2006 children from Gulf Coast states serenaded First Lady Laura Bush with a song praising the President, Congress, and Federal Emergency Management Agency for their response to — of all things — Hurricane Katrina…

This is the America that I know-
Campgrounds offer more independence than homeless shelters, which often have strict rules, he said. And they let families to stay together; most shelters are segregated by sex.
Some campgrounds frown upon being seen as this type of host. Timberline is different.
Manager Tammy Page hasn’t kept count but knows the number of people moving here for economic reasons has increased in the past year. The $325 a month campsite rent includes water and electricity plus laundry facilities, showers and access to a pool.
Page keeps a small food bank in the offce and has school supplies to give children. Donated clothes are kept in the laundry room.
Social workers and volunteers from local charities frequent the site.
The Renaults, a family of six, live next to Ballard. His tent used to be their home but they passed it along when good Samaritans who read of their financial troubles in a local paper donated a small camper.-Urinal
I don’t if you need a password to see this picture but look at the camper that was donated-

I might as well double tap the blog sites of the AJC liberals this morning. I went to college also and found that the boys from Jersey were pompous brag hearts that could be defined as boars. Is it any wonder that New Jersey is another Democrat controlled state that spits out gangsters, corrupt politicians, muslim extremists, and liberal college students? The “Boss” is just another liberal clown who impersonates the tough street savy singer that is not appreciative of his American fortunes. He is the first Democrat musical punk that goes out on tour during the presidential campaigns to insult Republicans, their president, and American policies. I am sure that Bookman holds the Dixie Chicks in high regard, as well.

TaxPayer- I am assuming that you are a consumer of wild eyed liberal media paranoia about capitalist greed, as witnessed here at the bookman blog on a daily basis.
Can I at least work with this assumption or is there something about you that I am not aware of?
There are two kinds of people in America, those who worry about what other people have and those who worry about what other people don’t have.
The first group, known as democrats, wants it all for themselves, see Gore, al-, Freidman, Tom, et al, etc, etc, etc.
Would you care to dispute the facts that I have proof of in multitude archived bookman columns and legion pinko media blatherings?
And then there are Conservatives, the second group, which deem responsibility to mean not only to their own but to others, and need no government entity to move them to giving freely of themselves.
I would not expect you to know these things, living in your divisive world of political paranoia and grievances, seeing white sheets and pointy hats in every unfamiliar corner.
Me, I don’t have such illnesses to deal with.
I still can’t believe the Lord used the Urinal to move me to do His Will, what a truly awesome Savior I have.
