Just wondering why movie about Zombies is doing well at the box office while Republicans are feeding off the dead and dying. They've turned over their party to talking head entertainers, try to keeping pounding "tax credits" like sand down rat holes, and have no new ideas. Guess art does imitate life after all.

The real truth about health insurance is that Republicans have been trying to not only prevent it from becoming universal, but they have been trying to eliminate employer based health insurance for years, by allowing the creation of a monopoly of a few companies who would then raise premiums to rates too high for employers to afford.

Simply put if insurance premiums increase at the same rate they have over the last five years, by 2019, the cost of an employer to provide family insurance to an employee will reach 31,000 dollars a year. About half the median wage for that family.

If we are extremely lucky and the rate increases only at the rate it has increased over the last ten years, that figure of cost for a business to insure a family will only be 26,600.

Simply put there are only two options. To pass the additional 17,000 dollars in cost to the employee.
Or to stop providing health insurance to employees. Simple.

Everything today is an overly large effort. The Dems try to improve the lot of the common person in the country and often we are the very ones who shoot our own messengers. I think the Dems prefer civility, but in reality, the repugs aren't going to allow that to happen. The repugs prefer the average citizen be unaware, uneducated, hyped-up about nothing and everything, exhausted and hostile. Repug lying is their only strong suit. The Dems are suffering from PTSD and need to get recovered fast.

The Repugs hate anything that helps the common person; the most recent vote on extending unemployment benefits to the unemployed was voted down by 6 of the elected repugs from our state. How sad they have so little concern for the average Georgian, who would rather have a job than unemployment, but can't find any job anywhere. I guess the homeless rate, the foreclosure rate and the hunger rate just isn't high enough for them to be bothered about caring enough to do something constructive. Maybe, it would help, if the six figure salary our elected reps and senators receive was withdrawn and then they could see what life is really like on the edge.

We need medical insurance reform. We need genuine cooperation on dealing with the issues of the day. I know that profits is the name of the game, but profits at the expense of the common citizenry is just foolhardy. In fact, I have adopted the habit of voluntary simplicity as a way to control spending; I just refuse to spend money with companies that do not care about me or my concerns. I have been assessing my spending and changing companies when needed. The Dems need to take a hard look at themselves; get a weekend's worth of rest and then comeback swing with attitude and a lot can be accomplished.

Will IRS Lien Your Property/Salary to collect penalties if you do not buy Health Insurance? Under this Health Plan, it appears IRS would be the agency that determines who has acceptable health insurance. Sen. Baucus Health Bill mandates health insurance companies provide medical coverage for Citizens with preexisting conditions, but fails to clarify if insurance has to be affordable. The Baucus proposal calls for charging individuals and families large Opt-Out penalties that do not buy health insurance, unless they are poor: but the proposal does not clarify who is poor: Would millions of Americans that own homes or derive their living income from an investment, but have no money to buy health insurance, qualify as poor? If No, those Americans would be charged penalties for opting-out because they could not afford health insurance. Gov. forcing people to buy health insurance or pay penalties would cause financial hardships, perhaps even foreclosures.

Ohmygosh, I'm gone for couple hours, and it's "Girls and Boys Gone Wild." Anyhoo, NIF, I agree that President Obama attended a prestigious school while living in Hiwaii with his grandparents. I also agree he was admitted to Harvard because of exceptional grades, just as former President Clinton was exceptional. Both Clinton and Obama are the 'exceptions to the rule,' you might say, in that they are both intellectually exceptional. However, many intellectually superior fall through the crack.

I know this is not Heaven, as my Mom always told me. But I believe every child in the USA should be educated to the point they are willing and able to achieve. Forget the family, connections etc. etc. If the kid is able to achieve, he should be able to attend medical school. We keep hearing we have a shortage of physicans and nurses, so what's the problem? If he/she can't 'cut the mustard,' then he can train for something else. No poppycrap about "Poppa and Grandpoppa graduated from Harvard, Emory, Yale." God don't have any grandchildren, so schools shouldn't base their acceptance of students on family ties.....
But then we have that pesky little thing called money....money talks....

Oh well, this ain't Heaven.

I can't believe how gullible most of us are. The health care/insurance bill has nothing to do with health, care or insurance. The economic stimulus bill had nothing to do with stimulating the economy & didn't. The cap & trade/tax bill has nothing to do with the climate. Politicians can not control the climate. The ban on drilling has nothing to do with saving our planet. (What planet do you think we buy our oil from?)
The world-wide financial crisis was caused by decades of pushing Affordable Housing on people who could not AFFORD to buy HOUSING. Fannie & Freddie were the triggers, mandated by DC. The pretense that home ownership is a right, not a privilege, is being followed with the pretense that health insurance & citizenship are rights, not privileges.
In just a few short months, this extreme liberal bunch in DC has nationalized our financial system, 2 of our 3 domestic auto makers (one out-sourced) & the largest insurance co. in the world (AIG). They've spent more money than Bush did in 8 yrs., money we don't have nor will have in our lifetimes. Now they're trying to nationalize our health care system, which will add at least another trillion to our deficit.
The American people, from both sides of the aisle, are beginning to wake up, but it's too late. There are truly needy deserving people, but many of the masses at the bottom of the pyramid are just bottom-feeders, those who feel entitled. The gimmes will always outnumber the givers. The uneducated & dropouts outnumber the educated. The dependents outnumber the over-achievers. That's what the liberal elites are counting on, constituents who are worlds away from & have nothing in common with their leadership. As long as the masses are willing to sacrifice their freedom for handouts, the liberals will win & stay in power. Those who don't pay taxes DON'T CARE that the US is insolvent, that our deficit is close to $12 trillion or that the feds are borrowing & printing $. They just want the government to take care of their every need & live on the plantation. The DC crowd has demonized the rich, professionals, white collar workers, small business owners, highly educated, all except themselves. It's politically correct to be envious of those better off than ourselves.
We were told wealth would be spread around & that America would be transformed. That's exactly what we got, socialism.

"Dems afraid to tell it like it is". Yes Jay, they certainly are. For once I agree with you.

In fact, they've officially voted to prevent the bill from being posted on the internet for 72 hours so the american public can read it before Congress votes on it.

Why is that Jay? Don't we have a right to know what they're planning and deciding?

What are they so scared of?
I know..... The truth and the facts...... ROFL !

Pelosi has also scrapped the deal she made with the "blue dogs" in favor of the public option, no matter what.

Bye, bye democrat majority in 2010.

LMAO !
