Travelin’ music, reposted, purified and sanctified

I’ve heard a lot of stories over the years about the boys from Athens, supposedly first-hand tales of the days before they hit big. Some of ‘em may even be true. In any event, here they are making their debut on the Friday Night Travelin’ Music:

jt; yes it is!! I come here to get away from the stress of work, and everyone is duking it out over a portion of a phrase or a single sentence that, if you read or could comprehend the whole paragraph, would explain the sentence, (however they choose not to read the whole paragraph–just fight over the one sentence…..Remember Sotomayer?)

Then I go to work to escape the stresses of HERE and people duke it out over one sentence in a tax code and the implications that it has, (even though they fail to read the whole paragraph or the entire code for that matter for the one sentence to make sense!!) .

With the deadline fast approaching for some of these tax cheats, our office looks like a McDonald’s in a small town after the big high school football game on friday night. We’re even opening on Saturdays and half days on Sundays in order to accommodate all the cheats.

Tonight I’m going to hit you up with some old school funk — but couldn’t find any!! So, since it’s Friday, I decided to go the jazz rout. Here’s some Sade w/your Chardonnay. PS: Appreciate the links — too happy for me though! :)

Debbie,

Really? Mayweather? He looks like the better fighter, but Marquez strikes me as more disciplined, which, gives him more points in my “all things fight world” Attitude is important in a competition, but it’s the quiet, disciplined ones that I favor – even if they lose. But like I said, I’m completely ignorant in the boxing world except that I think – “Oh damn…I love watching that sh*t”

I wish I could put my finger on why I like boxing and deplore wrestling and those fight guys who simply get in a cage and beat the crap out of each other. I think it has to do with strategy and I see it as an actual art form.

Bosch: Mayweather’s form is not as good as Marquez’s; however to me, Mayweather fights with such passion — as if he’s fighting the devil!! Marquez has a great and deadly left hook.

The bookies in Vegas have Marquez over Mayweather — due to Mayweather’s coming back after a long time out; however I’m still a Mayweather fan and I’m rooting for him.

Bosch don’t be dismayed over your love for boxing; I’m a girl and I like boxing too! However, I HATE the Ultimate Fighter. To me that’s not a sport, it’s a hyped up- testosterone ladled, steroid driven pscyho ward/prison riot break out movie. Too much violence and not enough savvy or smarts. In boxing you can see how each fighter “weighs” their opponent and how they’re trying to figure out the best approach, the best punch, the most effective move to put on them. In the Ultimate Fighter, they’re just trying to bash each other’s brains in.

I agree. I think that’s why I love boxing – it’s a true art form meshed with sport. I love your description. I haven’t been into boxing since the Muhammad Ali days and I really dont’ like him – I always wanted to see him get his ass kicked. I guess it all boils down to the fact that I don’t like to see guys with big mouths win.

Bruno,

I like Shakespeare and all, but I’ve always thought that people pretend to like him because they think it will make them appear smart. Shakespeare isn’t that complicated, and the histories (who many think weren’t even written by him) are incredibly boring…..as is opera. The other Bosch is a huge opera/classical music fan and I’ve been exposed to it to the Nth degree, but I just don’t get it.
