Ding, dong, the ACORN witch is dead!

It looks as though the Republicans have finally succeeded in slaying their favorite bogeyman. Dastardly ACORN, that craven, contemptible coven of community organizers, that mighty scourge of all that is right and true, has been stripped of federal funding and left for dead at the side of the road.

Last week, the Census Bureau announced it would no longer contract with ACORN. Now, as Fox News reports, the House has passed The Defund ACORN Act, which prohibits any “federal contract grant, cooperative agreement or any other form of agreement (including a memorandum of understanding” from being awarded to ACORN.

On Monday, the Senate likewise voted to bar any funding of ACORN through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Today, at the insistence of Sen. Mike Johanns, Republican from Nebraska, they also voted to bar ACORN funding through the Department of Interior, even though it was pointed out that the Interior budget bill contained no money for ACORN anyway.

As the New York Times reports the event:

“Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the California Democrat in charge of the bill … said she was perfectly willing to add (Johann’s) language to the measure and would be happy to do so without a roll call vote, which she assumed would turn out pretty much like the 83-7 vote against Acorn on Monday. That vote came after Acorn employees were videotaped offered advice to conservative activists posing as people interested in establishing a prostitution business.

Mr. Johanns, recognizing a political winner when he sees one, said he would want a roll call vote regardless. In fact, he insisted on it.

“This is such an important issue,” he said. “This is an issue that people all across the country are watching the Senate floor.” He said the Senate owed it to the public “to show them how we’re going to vote on this issue.”

There is no truth, or at least not much truth, to the report that Republicans also insisted on the removal of the letters A, C, O, R and N from the bill. That motion failed when it was pointed out that without an O or an R, you also couldn’t spell PORK.

By the count of GOP senators ACORN has received an amazingly grand total of $53 million in federal funding since 1994, which averages out to a whopping $3.53 million in federal dollars a year. It is remarkable that a group could do so much apparent evil, threatening the very basis of Western civilization, on such a small budget, but such is apparently the case.

However, while the bogeyman has been killed, the need for a bogeyman is eternal. Before ACORN there was Moveon.org, and after ACORN there will be …. something. Stay tuned, children.

At whom will the fickle finger of fomented fury point next?

An obvious democrat vote getting organization counting voters? And this didn’t raise nary a concern to begin with?

By the way, the battle of the bookman blog bragging rights rapidly approaches.

Yes, the Bears are with out thee Urlacher but the Steelers will be Polamaluless.

Who knows, maybe the Bears will make dozens upon dozens of bone headed mistakes and give away the game like they did Sunday night.

And maybe they won’t.

Either way, welcome to Soldier Field, bookman.

Well, they never went far enough. They need to shift that money to a outfit that registers Republican voters. That way we at least get something out of it. As it is, we got all these Mexicans and Those People voting and they get stronger every two years on account of their kids getting old enough to vote and them having so many kids. We need a bunch to scour the hills and woods and trailer parks to sign up rednecks to vote. We all know how they’ll vote.

It’s just a idea but it’s a good one if I do say so myself. If we don’t do something like this pretty soon they’ll call us the Old White Guys Party and we won’t have enough voters to elect a dog-catcher on account of us getting old and dying off. You can’t vote if you’re dead now on account of this photo ID law. Looks like it’s back-firing on us.

Have a good night everybody.

I have also communicated with ACORN’s independent Advisory Council, and they will assist ACORN in naming an independent auditor and investigator to conduct a thorough review of all of the organizations relevant systems and processes. That reviewer, to be named within 48 hours, will make recommendations directly to me and to the full ACORN Board.

Hey, Cynthia Tucker is in D.C, naming her would be perfect!

Since the random post I saw was yoyo yammering about “child slavery trafficers” I’m delighted to educate the wingnuts as to the child slavery trafficking that Abramoff, Ralph Reed, and Tom Delay protected and went to great length to do it.

Abramoff –Long federal prison residency
Delay–Making a fool out of himself while holding up his eventual substantial term in a Texas prison–the dance steps will serve him well there, and I’m sure he’ll be the star of the TV room. Delay will love the continual programming of BET videos as well.

Reed–would have been prosecuted, but a Texas DA dropped the ball and forfeited his right to prosecute Reed via statute of limitations.

Documentation is available upon request with proper fees in advance..

Google Marianna Islands Delay Marianna Islands Ralph Reed Marianna Islands Abramoff and Reed and you’ll get an edcucation into how all of them defended child sex slavery in the Marianna islands.

My researchers are hard at work as to party affiliation but when you talk prison–you’re talking Repubozos 99/100 times.

You know I saw that ACORN video where the guy comes in and says “I’m a pimp and I want to file taxes blah, blah, blah”. Now what’s so odd to me about that video, is that any tax preparer worth their salt would’ve told him that he had to have verifiable RECEIPTS from past customers in order to file it on his 1099. How many pimps/hookers give out receipts?

The whole thing smells like “BUSHSH##T” to me. How did those “couple of kids with a camera”, get funded to do their little “investigating” in all these different cities and how did they, average white kids, walk into an urban ACORN station/building said they were pimp/prostitute and be taken seriously? Why didn’t any of the workers laugh their azzes off at an obvious prank?

And the part where the woman said to “put your money in a tin can and bury it in your back yard”, that was classic!! How many pimps/prostitutes have BACK YARDS?!? They’re usually transient and able to pick up and move at a moments notice if need be! If they make that much money to own a house; they’d need a paper trail and in order to have a paper trail they’d need to have someone front them a legitimate job!!

I personally, would’ve thought the whole thing was a joke!! AND I wouldn’t be surprised if someone comes forward and say that they thought it was a joke too!! Oh and the part about the underage south american girls and the lady said to put them down as dependents…..PRICELESS!!!

PS: Before anyone starts sending me hate mail, you can’t just put down, as a 22 year old kid, a bunch of dependents on your taxes and don’t expect it, (your taxes) to be red flagged and a lien put on his (the pimp’s) holdings/refund check/properties. ANY credible tax preparer could’ve told him that!!

In contrast to the made up IBD poll, where IBD has been pressed to reveal it’s polling methodology and refused, the New England Journal of Medicine, arguably the most difficult medical journal to get published in, released a poll of 2000 physicians including an 8 page survey where 1939 participants responded and 63% of the physicians favored a public option.

http://healthcarereform.nejm.org/?p=1785&query=home

The IBD poll has been called a clown pollo, and 2/3 physicians are not poised to quit medicine if any health reform passes as IBD suggested. IBD should stick to modified derivatives and their campaign to make sure they aren’t regulated so that the banks can be cryin’ for a bailout again. That’s where we’re headed.

Mort Kondrake, my kinda liberal just brought something up. What sent Iran’s recent satellite into orbit?

Using a Safir-2 to launch a satellite into orbit marks an important milestone in Iran’s quest to develop an ICBM capable of delivering a nuclear weapon to all of Europe and at least portions of the U.S. It also represents a significant step forward in Iranian efforts to use space for purposes hostile to the U.S. and its allies while placing some U.S. satellites at potential risk.

Iran’s satellite launch is another wake-up call that underscores the urgency of building effective missile defenses and ratcheting up international pressure to halt Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Just as the 1957 launch of the Soviet Union’s Sputnik satellite signaled surprisingly rapid technological progress that eventually translated into a greater military threat, Iran’s satellite launch is a harbinger of future dangers emanating from the volatile Middle East. The Obama Administration must not ignore the warning signs that Iran’s hostile regime continues to transmit.

The BBC comes up with the same conclusion but this is “one of those”….as RC likes to type

ACORN was granted close to 55M in government funds for it’s activities to date. This is a drop in the bucket compared to their share of the 4.19B dollar portion of the stimulus package called the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. These funds are supposed to be handed out through the Dept of Housing and Urban Development. Can we assume that a cease and desist order on funds also includes monies from this 4.19B share of the stimulus package? If so, those tapes made by two kids in their mid 20s have brought ACORN to it’s knees. Our elected officials could have done this a long time ago. Why the all out push to defraud ACORN now? One interesting aspect in the latest bill totally written by insurance and pharmaceutical executives for their whores on the Senate Finance committee:

By capitulating to the Joe Wilson’s in their dead on arrival bill, Baucus, with the White House complicit would actually make insurance costs higher in insurance company controlled “exchanges”/coops by excluding illegal immigrants from buying insurance with their own money from the pool because they are demographically a very healthy population.

The bill will go nowhere and it’s markup will change it dramatically next week when Wyden and Rockerfeller lay into dimwit Conservadems and insurance company whores Conrad and Baucus, but the current meme of keeping illegal immigrants from buying insurance is completely stupid because what happens is that hospitals like Grady and counties like Fulton, Dekalb, Gwinteet, and Cobb where there are large populations of illegal immigrants end up eating the bill and via grants ultimately passing it ontoYOU Bookman blog reader ’cause unless you are a tax evader, you’ll end up paying for the care of these people who aren’t allowed to purchase insurance.

Nice goin’ Joe Wilson–great forethought.

Check it out here–you get to pay for the health care that your Repubozotards and Bluedogotard salves of the insurance companies now want to keep illegal immigrants from purchasing.

Again, the nitwits on Senate Finance Six who want to exclude illegal immigrants from BUYING insurance from any source, would increase your rates if Grassley and Conrad’s language were to survive in a final bill, because by simple permutation and combination math, when you exclude healthy people from an insurance pool, the rates and deductibles go much higher.

It would also have no impact whatsoever on immigration policy or immigration numbers. None.

So it would increase YOUR COSTS Bookman reader, and it would also increase your taxes because when these people can’t buy any insurance, they are going to show up at hospitals who will have to treat them and the costs of every dollar of this will be passed on to YOU because that treatment is ultimately paid for by federal grants.

In fact, every dollar of every Emory Healthcare/Morehouse School of Medicine employee at Grady with an MD and some with an RN is paid for by a grant through your tax dollars right now. All of the medical staff at Grady are either supplied by Emory or Morehouse via federal grant.

Naahhhh. Obama isn’t good when it comes to thinking.

Acorn = child sex trade. They knew people were seeking help in trafficing children for sex, and they helped facilitate it. Further, if it is such a great organization, let the public sector finance it. It is ashame that “mainstream” (a.k.a. dying media) journalist did not uncover this corruption and evil. I guess they are too busy worrying about the Kennedy’s or Obama’s vacations.

Dastardly ACORN, that craven, contemptible coven of community organizers, that mighty scourge of all that is right and true

All that and more! much more! Jay, you forgot this: they are “on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy”

The Mavericky One would never lie, right?

But not illegal immigrants–so of course the moron is pushing his principle–the more people not insured the more it costs for the rest of us. Can you get any dumber?

Though my sympathies lie with GA Tech, my money went on Miami for tonight’s game. Too much speed for Tech to handle IMO.

“Debbie Do Right, Someone could come along and hit you over the head with a 2X4 and you still wouldn’t get it.”

Apparently you missed DDR’s post yesterday afternoon in which she delineated which black politicians are worthy of respect/support and which aren’t. Condaleeza Rice, Clarence Thomas, and Thomas Sowell don’t look after “their own kind” well enough for Debbie to support them.

CBO has called Coops from Baucus bill worthless:

“The proposed co-ops had very little effect on the estimates of total enrollment in the exchanges or federal costs because, as they are described in the specifications, they seem unlikely to establish a significant market presence in many areas of the country or to noticeably affect federal subsidy payments. ”

Rockerfeller is gone from the Baucus bill. Wyden says he won’t vote it out without public option. That there done kills Baucus’ bill in his own committee and Rockerfeller and Wyden will change the bill radically next week.

You have to understand Bookman logic to understand his blog..

Black…good
White…Bad
Mexican…these could go either way
Rich…Evil, greedy for wanting to keep what THEY earn
Poor..oppressed, not greedy for wanting to keep what YOU Earned
MSNBC..unbiased
Drudge..biased
FOX…satan

Now with that primer, you should be able to follow any bookman blog post

You are welcome

Well, here’s the exchange from yesterday in case your memory is failing:

Bruno: Several posters here have either implied or directly stated that a majority of Republicans are racists, despite the fact that support for Rice, Thomas and Sowell remains high. Every time in the past I’ve brought this up, I was informed that supporting these folks didn’t “count” for some reason, since they didn’t hold traditional liberal views. Do you have any perspective on that?

DDR: I don’t think it’s their non “traditional liberal views” that makes some people wary of them; I think it’s their lack of OTHER blacks in their lives………People don’t trust other people who have no affinity towards their own.”

So what about your post makes me a liar and brain-dead?

Acorn is defunded for now not that we would have been able to follow the scandal in the AJC. Faithful readers of the AJC would not have read much about the sex trafficking advice sting. While the AJC won’t cover the prostituting, child sex trafficking scandal, Bookman has no problem defending it. Now that it’s a community organizing group the four years and forty million dollars, does not mean so much.
Reflexive, unimaginative defender of all things democrat. Good job Jay.
