Four Liverpudlians to escort ya’ll back home

This week the remastered Beatles catalog was released for sale, and once again, they went straight to No. 1. According to USA Today:

“Discs are moving steadily, with the $260 stereo and $299 mono box sets selling out at many outlets. Even the band’s website alerted buyers that new box orders would not be shipped until late October “due to the incredible demand.”

At Amazon, the stereo and mono sets ranked first and second on the list of music best sellers, even though the site’s allotment sold out the week before and new orders won’t ship for up to six weeks. The Beatles held 15 spots in the top 20.”

So in light of all that, conversation the other night turned to a difficult subject:

“What’s your favorite Beatles song?”

I didn’t have an answer because, well,  it depends.  One of the great things about the Beatles discography is its range.

When I want some of the early, kick-butt, toe-tapping and rockabilly-influenced stuff, I might go with “Roll Over, Beethoven.” If you’re in a more contemplative mood, “Norwegian Wood” or “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” are hard to beat. You’ve got the playful giddiness of things like “Rocky Racoon” and “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer,” and the sweetness of “When I’m Sixty-Four” or “Something.”

Tonight, though, here’s my pick:

Here’s my Friday’s item. Today I’m honoring two kings and also all the tax cheats out there; and how they’ve made me so much money this year!! It seems, surprisingly, (haha), that the majority of tax cheats are the same gender. So this offering is to them. Enjoy…

Favorite-not an easy answer,Let it Be I guess if you held a gun to my head. Just an incredible band with muliple sounds. I used to think the “stones” were the best rock band ever, especialy in younger day’s,but I was way wrong. The Who,Led Zeplin,&Pink Floyd were great bands as well, but the lads from Liverpool were in a class all to themselves.

Gosh, jay.

Not one piece have you done in memory of those who lost their lives on 9/11/01.

But the Beatles discs are aiding capitalism.

Interesting.

When writing of the tax-cheats, do you intend to include Geithner and Daschle?

Beatles covers rarely come close to matching the original. Unlike any band worth covering, I don’t think I have ever heard a Beatles’ cover that exceeds the quality and experience of the original.

Here is a cover that effectively pays tribute to the seminal original of Across the Universe:

Nice.

And so it is 09/11/09. And we are again reminded that there really exists not an iota of difference between the original 9/11 terrorists and those like-minded cretins of today’s Republiscum Party. It’s all utterly relative. The same hatreds. The same cowardice. The very same ever-destructive mindsets. Yes indeed. Yup.

I think I’ll wait until Christmas to buy my set. By that time they will have ramped up production into over production. And the price will drop a $100 dollars or so.

I’ll piggy-back on Jay’s observation – no matter what mood you’re in, there’s a Beatles song to fit. And a darn good song at that.

Does Michael Jackson’s estate still own the majority of the Beatles songs? If so, I want to report that I AM THE MOTHER OF BLANKET; and i didn’t legally give up my rights to him. I signed a paper under hypnosis and Michael scared by by dancing the Thriller video with his wig off. AND I was under the influence of alcohol and Janet flashed her boob at me and blinded me in both eyes. IT WASN’T MY FAULT!!!

Also, I would like to add , Blanket, Mommy LOVES YOU!! And I want you to send her some money, (not for me — for my legal defense so that I can get you back); as soon as you can.

The most interesting part was that the Arlington Tx school district had refused to show Obama’s speech, explaining it would interrupt the school day, but is busing 500 kids at taxpayers expense to Cowboy Stadium to hear George W. Bush.

Had I made a comment it would have been a reminder to jay of something he obviously forgot. For personal reasons, I no longer feel a sense of obligation to jay.

I was over at Kyle’s reading the piece he did on 9/11/01. If it’s any consolation, Wooten didn’t do one either.

I can only guess that Kyle hasn’t grown as hard and crusty as jay and Jim.

I’ve visited a multitude of sites that are offering tributes. A moment of reflection.

Back to the Beatles for you.

Thank Gawd for liberals!
