Check out some of the pictures of these old trees on the ‘net. They are amazing. Yew bows were made from the shoots that grow off older trees when you either cut them off low to the ground, or when you cut them higher up (to keep deer from eating them) and now those old trees that were cut down young have amazing shapes after growing for a few hundred years.

UsinUK, The interview was really cool. They took the reporter to an English Oak that was 400 years old and as described, it sounded like a tree out of Harry Potter. They also said the oldest tree on record, was an Yew. The stuff of long bows! My Gawd, what history! Now there are a couple of trees I’d like to hug!
