When I visited my mother, the 84 year-old card carrying member of the republican party, on Saturday I was surprised to find that she had Fox News on the tube while the Teddy Kennedy funeral was being broadcast. Then I remembered that she keeps Fox News on all day and night because she wants them to have good ratings. I wonder if el Rushbo gave the old farts marching orders???

Dale B…in case you didn’t notice: that’s all past history. Get over it already.

And when it was Nixon was doing similar covert-ops against the dirty hippies who opposed his Administration, Dale B. likely cheered.

There’s also the little matter of how a few things changed in America between Oct. ‘63 and April ‘68, not the least of which being RFK himself.

On a more “time to move on” note, General McChrystal’s strategic review of Afghanistan is submitted. Went to moveon.org and didn’t see one ad campaign for betrayal or liar or anything else. Hmmmm. Did see a goal of “end the war in Iraq” though. Not a peep about Afghanistan. I guess they’re okay with another month of record deaths before the month’s even over. Talk about losing relevance -

On October 10, 1963, U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy committed what is widely viewed as one of the most ignominious acts in modern American history: he authorized the Federal Bureau of Investigation to begin wiretapping the telephones of the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. Kennedy believed that one of King’s closest advisers was a top-level member of the American Communist Party, and that King had repeatedly misled Administration officials about his ongoing close ties with the man. His order remained secret until May of 1968, just a few weeks after King’s assassination and a few days before Kennedy’s own. But the FBI onslaught against King that followed Kennedy’s authorization remains notorious, and the stains on the reputations of everyone involved are indelible.

TF’s post @ 8.18 is hilarious for two reasons:

1) the guy calls himself “Turd” but is too prissy, too delicate, to spell the word “hell”

2) the guy actually believes that JFK, RFK, TK and MM all went to hell. Because of course those folks, they didn’t live the righteous, Christ-emulating life that our Turd has.
