Check out http://www.obamamortgagerelief.org/ . There needs to be a program for the elderly but not quite to retirement age for mortgage modification when the have lost their job during this particular recession. I made a decent wage because I put my time into a company and now have no job. I am looking at $10 - to $12 hr jobs after working all my life. You can't make a mortgage payment on that kind of money. I will eventually lose my home.

Because the government is purchasing the vast majority of the vaccine and the government is organizing the vaccine production to get it anywhere near the number of people who need the vaccine, and through trials Tony Fauci MD the Director of NIAID @ NIH is dictating what that vaccine will contain based on his trials to the five companies that make it. Any other questions?

Amusingly conservatives talk about how great the health technology in the U.S. is but neglect to remind anyone that it is largely government research that is providing it. The government picks up the tab for most of the research on wonder drugs, new diagnostic procedures, new medical procedures. The result of all government research goes directly into the public domain and the medical business profits from it, with no financial return to the taxpayer who foots the bill.

The same people who brought us fear of Iraqi WMD's are now bringing fear of health reform. Using the same old words like "socialized medicine" which barely exists anywhere in the world. In the vast majority of nations that have some nationalized plan, health care itself remains completely private, and health insurance companies are involved with handling claims and administration of the funds.Socialized medicine is another one of those rare occurrences that conservatives have mythologized beyond all recognition.

The two best in the world, France and the Netherlands take two totally different approaches, insure just about everyone in their countries, and have no waiting lists, nor is pre-approval from an insurance company required. In fact the overall wait to see primary care physicians is shorter than in the United States, and is about the same as in the U.S. to see specialists. Shorter in France, about the same in the Netherlands.

Conservatives point fingers at various select European or Canadian systems, but they fail to point out how poorly the United States performs in exactly the same areas. One might want to consider the mortality statistics for those who do not have health insurance at all. This is as valid a measure as picking out single diseases like colon cancer and so on. The United States does not insure a number more than fifty percent larger than the entire Canadian population.

America claims to be the best at everything. The fact that it is completely unable to provide health care for all of its citizens is a most glaring failure.

Pointing out various rates if deaths for single and relatively rare diseases is one of the more false arguments. When one is comparing the overall merits and demerits of a health care system, the only measure is the overall health of the people living under those systems.
