Dick Cheney’s wait for vindication will be a very long one

So Dick Cheney is writing a “tell-some” book in which he supposedly will be frank about his disagreements and disappointments with President Bush. He is also quite convinced that history will vindicate him.

According to Bart Gellman in The Washington Post:

The former vice president remains convinced of mortal dangers that few other leaders, in his view, face squarely. That fixed belief does much to explain the conduct that so many critics find baffling. He gives no weight, close associates said, to his low approval ratings, to the tradition of statesmanlike White House exits or to the grumbling of Republicans about his effect on the party brand.

John P. Hannah, Cheney’s second-term national security adviser, said the former vice president is driven, now as before, by the nightmare of a hostile state acquiring nuclear weapons and passing them to terrorists. Aaron Friedberg, another of Cheney’s foreign policy advisers, said Cheney believes “that many people find it very difficult to hold that idea in their head, really, and conjure with it, and see what it implies.”

What is new, Hannah said, is Cheney’s readiness to acknowledge “doubts about the main channels of American policy during the last few years,” a period encompassing most of Bush’s second term. “These are not small issues,” Hannah said. “They cut to the very core of who Cheney is,” and “he really feels he has an obligation” to save the country from danger.

Personally, I think the danger Cheney describes is very real. It is without a doubt the single most dire national security threat that we face as a nation. But the question to be asked after eight years of Bush/Cheney is this:

Was such a danger more acute, or less acute, when those two men left office on Jan. 20, 2009 than it was when they took office on Jan. 20, 2001? Was Iran closer or further from a weapon? Was North Korea closer or further? Were the weapons in Pakistan closer or further from falling into terrorist hands?

Cheney apparently thinks of himself as a poor man’s Winston Churchill. In reality, he will be remembered as a poor man’s Montgomery Burns.

Robert Barnett, who negotiated Cheney’s book contract, passed word to potential publishers that the memoir would be packed with news, said the article published on the Post Web site, and Cheney himself has said, without explanation, that “the statute of limitations has expired” on many of his secrets.

Democrats, realizing the success of the President’s “Cash For Clunkers” rebate program, have revamped a major portion of their National Health Care Plan.

President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Sen. Reed are expected to make this major announcement at a joint news conference later this week. I have obtained an advanced copy of the proposal which is named….

“CASH FOR CODGERS” and it works like this… Couples wishing to access health care funds in order to pay for the delivery of a child will be required to turn in one old person. The amount the government grants them will be fixed according to a sliding scale. Older and more prescription dependent codgers will garner the highest amounts.

Special “Bonuses” will be paid for those submitting codgers in targeted groups, such as smokers, alcohol drinkers, persons 10 pounds over their government prescribed weight, and any member of the Republican Party.

Smaller bonuses will be given for codgers who consume beef, soda, fried foods, potato chips, lattes, whole milk, dairy products, bacon, Brussel sprouts, or Girl Scout Cookies.

All codgers will be rendered totally useless via toxic injection. This will insure that they are not secretly resold or their body parts harvested to keep other codgers in repair.che

Well, things would of been alot better if they’d of let Cheney do everything he wanted to do to keep us safe, like

1. Making everybody strip buck-nekkid if they’re going outside their house. That way we could be sure they didn’t have box-cutters or something like that, except for people like Sister Dusty that can hide things in their folds of fat.

2. Making everybody submit e-mails, letters, and packages to the White House for checking before sending them.

3. Speaking loud and clear during phone calls and in English so people in the FBI and CIA can figure out what everybody’s saying when they’re listening in.

4. Cutting out this foreign travel where librul Democrats can make plots with Terrists.

5. Making everybody swear on a stack of Bibles where they got the money they’re putting in bank accounts so the FBI and CIA won’t have to work so hard when they see that somebody’s put in or took out more than 10,000 bucks.

Anyhow, we got plumb too much freedom in this country. Cheney would of took care of that. But he run out of time. Now we’re all in danger.

Two points.
1. Cheney is correct to be concerned about nuclear weapons in the hands of terrorists. But he came to the game a little late. Sam Nunn has been on this issue for over 20 years. When Cheney was defense secretary under Bush 41 he barely gave Nunn a nod of the head on this issue. But I am glad he is now in the game.

2. The reason Bush stopped listening to Cheney’s advice, & he did stop, was the fiasco that had been taking place on the ground in Iraq in 2005.
Bush realized that all the advice he had gotten from Cheney & Rumsfeld on how the prosecute the occupation was turning out to be wrong. He eventually canned Rumsfeld & turned to Gates. Then the Valerie Plame “affair” hit the special prosecutor level & Cheney was pulled into that. Cheney was never brought into Bush’s confidence again.

AARP Corrects False Obama Claim

Stretching the Truth

For weeks now the Obama administration has accused politicians, the media and the general public of engaging in a misinformation campaign against health care reform.

But as it turns out, it’s actually President Obama who’s the one spreading false information! This is what he said Tuesday at his well-orchestrated town hall:

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: We have the AARP on board because they know this is a good deal for our seniors. AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare.

Oh really?

Well guess what, Mr. President, AARP has not endorsed any bill!

When asked about the president’s comments, an AARP spokesman said, “Indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate.”

Maybe we should report this very fishy information to the White House Web site.

Cheney was trying to ATONE for his mistakes, however, he went about them the wrong way — and Bush found out the hard way that Cheney wasn’t a team player at all — he wanted to be the leader not a member of some team — Cheney has halfway gotten what he deserves, if there’s any justice in the world; he’ll go hunting again with one of his “friends” and a horrible accident will happen………….he’ll get accidentally shot in his big fat mouth, but he will survive; but he won’t be able to tell anymore lies for a long, long time!

Climate Crisis Now!

The Meltdown is brought to you by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The secretary-general spoke Tuesday in South Korea at the World Environment Summit and issued a dire warning: The world is coming to an end.

Now you may be wondering how we can avoid this. According to Mr. Ban, “If we fail to act, climate change will intensify droughts, floods and other natural disasters. Water shortages will affect hundreds of millions of people… Social unrest, even violence, could follow.”

That’s scary, I know, but don’t worry, we still have time — just not that much. The secretary-general continued, “We have the power to change course, but we must do it now… We have just four months. Four months to secure the future of our planet.”

Of course we’re safer now. First, Bookman conveniently ignores the elimination of any possibility of nuclear weapons from Iraq, which was not the case when Cheney took office. Iran is also less of a threat. As the recent demonstrations show the emerging democracy in Iraq has inspired a lot of Iranians to want a true democrcrac of their own. The election and re-election of Bush-Cheney also encouraged the Israelis to elect a hardliner who will not allow the Iranians to have nuclear weapons. As for the Koreans, they have never been a nuclear threat to the US. Bookman forgets they are not Islamofascists and, therefore, aren’t necessarily targeting the US. Pakistan is a little more problematic, but O is working on that one.

Bush national security transition team getting briefed by the Clinton national security staff held a short news conference with a handful of reporters. The Bush team said that all the Clinton team wanted to talk about was what a great danger Bin Laden was to US interest. The Bush team then said that they knew better, that the largest threat facing the US was from a rogue nation firing an ICBM at a mainland US target.
And that was why they were going to concentrate on a missile defense shield to protect the US. And if you recall, that is basically all the Bush national security people talked about until 9/11.

Dear Cheney’s Mother, I’ve always wondered, was Satan any good in the sack, or did he just knock you up and leave the money on the table?

Sorry–the idea that Cheney is the offspring of a supernatural creature doesn’t work for me. No matter how badly I think of him, he doesn’t rate that kind of larger than life PR campaign.

Of course, Jay must also channel Nelson Muntz. A political bully that has terrorized virtually everyone that doesn’t agree with his progressive views. Haw-Haw!!

Does that include the incompetence of letting them into the country in the first place? or just the incompetence of your political enemies?

Whom are you referring to as being incompetent for letting ‘them’ into the country in the first place. Also, I don’t have any political enemies. I’m just a taxpayer.

Vice President Cheney is a great American and was one of our greatest Vice Presidents. He needn’t be vindicated, rather history, in the not too distant future, will consider those who opposed his most noble efforts that kept us safe as modern day Chamberlains. G-d bless Vice President Cheney and his family.

Sarah Palin/Mary Cheney in 2012 – shange that will give us back our country!!!!

“Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again, but already it was impossible to say which was which.”.

Yeah, but it is not hard to tell which is which here..”

correct, but orwell was referring to the extreme left, at a time where they where doing the oppression

a few over looked facts

in chronological order

race and change-

NOBODY realizes that the division over the race issue before the civil war was between SOUTHERN DEMOCRATS and NORTHERN REPUBLICANS

don’t get me wrong, I’m independent, and unbiased…

but its only recently that the republican party has joined the “BIG Buissness” party and become corrupted, fighting more for what little pork-barreling they can get, sounds alot like the democrats in the 1840’s huh?

the simple fact is that both parties received donations from the same corporate sponsors (PAC’s)

so wouldn’t any candidate taking donations from the biggest sponsor (J.P. Morgan) fullfill the same promises?????

and even though president Obama stated that he wasn’t going to accept PAC or lobbyist donations, the two thirds of his campaign funds that were raised pre-2008, not to mention funds raised almost exclusively from lobbyists in his “Senate campaign committee” not to mention Obamas own PAC Hopefund that basically laundered PAC money,

and most of this could also be said for Sen. McCain

im just focusing on Obama cuz he won,

something everybody on this forum needs to learn one thing…

all men are inherently evil, and

never trust a politician, haha

and lets see, who benefited from the deciding issue of this years election(the economy, and bailout), you guessed it, the big corporate sponsors (the banks).

and what banks bought up the failing California market, one of the few states that can generate a self sustaining economy

JP Morgan and Chase, haha

i kinda forgot to complete my thought half way through

what i meant to say was…

and even though president Obama stated that he wasn’t going to accept PAC or lobbyist donations, the two thirds of his campaign funds that were raised pre-2008 came almost exclusively from banks and auto companies. not to mention funds raised almost exclusively from lobbyists in his “Senate campaign committee” not to mention Obamas own PAC Hopefund that basically laundered PAC money, into the democratic party

i appologize for my bad grammar and punctuation as well, i am hi right now

I amnot a hippie, but a CA medical marijuana patient, and proud to live in the only state that still caters to it peoples needs.

what ever happened to the politicians listening to its people

oh yeah i think JFK shattered it when he said “Ask Not”

I hate to think that a loose confederation of states, who held all rights not specifically granted to the federal government by the constitution, has essentially become a new USSR: lose, unstable states held together by an oppressive hand

Chew on That piece of bacon, since uve obviously never learned that Orwell was anti-institutional, and provides a unbiased view from the country that spawned this two-party, two house nightmare

Dick Cheney is all bent out of shape because Eric Holder is looking into possible wrong doings by the CIA. Cheney should be relieved that the Obama Administration, Congress, and the Department of Justice combined, don’t have enough balls to investigate what really happened on 9/11. Can you say treason?
