That $1 trillion is only about 3% of what we're going to be spending. That said, I agree with the premise. But we simply have to change our self-destructive lifestyles.

Bud -

"Oh well, I guess one has to complete one’s education, to know a satire, or even the meaning of the word."

let us know when you attempt satire.

as for your scribblings earlier - it wasn't even coherent, much less satirical

The government is not our enemy. It's there to serve us as a whole, not individually. What's best for the country might not be best for you or me. We certainloy have some stellar citizens but we have some that are less than that as well. Too many are too easily swayed. I'll take my chances with the health care experts working with Congress and the administration on coming up with reform, altho I personally would just like to make Medicare available to everyone bevause it would be the quickest and simplest way to go. The tax increase needed to fund it should be less than the insurance premiums being paid now. Those of us that are using it now that could afford it could pay a little more in copays and deductibles.

Duh.

It's astounding you people can even function on a daily basis - how many of you libtards have Velcro fasteners for your shoes, because tying them would be just too dam much trouble?

I see the 'news' people were all over a story the other day about a drunk nurse being sentenced to (I believe) 18 months in jail for 'administering while drunk', aka nursing, or some other such nonsense.

That's more time than one gets for killing another human being driving while drunk.

The sickness of our judicial system will never be cured, and idiocy like this will continue, until they grind away the ..."not responsible because of the alcohol..." with DUI's, and treat death by driving the same as if putting a gun to a victim's head and pulling the trigger. Personally I'd like to see the lawyers be first in line at the business end of the weapon, but I digress.

For dam sure sodacracracker Major, or whatever the hell her name is, won't do anything new or special, except perhaps give a few illegals carte blanche till their family can sneak them back to Mexico. Jay and his trolls were all singing over her confirmation the other day - subbing one libtard for another, a tie is like kissing your sister, lets celebrate the tie, blah, blah, blah. Big dam deal....only libtards celebrate a tie.

But back to the drunken nurse... this could be part of the 'final solution' under Obamacare - let all the drunk and/or high nurses tend to the elderly. Put a special employee lounge in all nursing home and hospice facilities, loaded with pot, 'ludes, all self injected recreational drugs, and of course, pillows. No inspections. I bet Medicare claims would plummet, and those pesky folks who just want to live a few days, weeks, or months longer would cease plundering those valuable (I think still) taxpayers dollars.

Oh, and let us not forget all the Ronald McDonald houses and the like all across the country. No need letting these diseased youth grow up and be a drain on the healthcare system.

Convert most hospitals into LA Fitness Centers... these sick people should be in better shape anyway.

Just a few suggestions that may be buried in the health care bill, but I, like most if not all Congresspeople, haven't read it in its entirety, BUT, I don't have an official vote on its passage. But hell, who cares? If its written by a dimwittocrat, it must be okay, right?

Obamacare gone wild!

Just imagine what the health care debate would be like if it truly focused on controlling spending.

For starters, we wouldn't be arguing about how to "pay for" the $1 trillion or so of costs over a decade of Obama's "reform." Congress wouldn't create new benefits until it had disciplined the old. We'd be debating how to trim the $10 trillion, as estimated by CBO, that Medicare and Medicaid will spend over the next decade, without impairing Americans' health. We'd use Medicare as a vehicle of change. Accounting for more than one-fifth of all health spending, its costs per beneficiary, now about $12,000, rose at a dizzying average annual rate of 8.5 percent a year from 1970 to 2007.
