Here’s Mike Castle, a Republican congressman from Delaware, trying to deal with the birther nonsense at a town hall meeting back on June 30. It really gets a little spooky when the woman hijacks the meeting with an impromptu demand for the Pledge of Allegiance. It’s hard to imagine a more vivid example of how easily false patriotism can trump reason and common sense.
Apparently, CNN’s Lou Dobbs — always on the lookout these days for a fringe issue to ride — is also jumping on the bandwagon.

US deaths hit their highs several years after the fall of Baghdad. The drumbeat of reporting was constant. Just review the headlines of the wire services, not to mention the papers or the tv news reporting.
Well damn, Paul. it was a shocking development, and it got worse and worse and worse. It was not something that any of the Administration had publicly prepared us for. It was news, screaming headline news. Of course.
Should the Afghanistan casualties be bigger news? If that’s what you’re arguing I’ve got your back. Of course it should. What I can’t get with is your notion that it’s media bias soaked in Obamaphilia driving it. It’s much bigger, and more depressing than something as facile as that.
Mostly it’s viewership/readership fatigue. You can only work up a cycle of outrage among the public every so often. Nobody prominent is working this.
It’s a fascinating topic, one that you’re well equipped to discuss honestly, but I’ve gotta blow this pop stand. Later, all.

It is thrilling to see that the lady in the video are willing to stand up for America. The Pledge of Allegiance, “Support the Troops” movements and teabagger parties show who the Real Americans are.
Palin, these ralliers, and real American values will be back in 2012 to take this country back for the illegitimate, Muslin foreigners.

It’s beautiful thing. It would be hard to invent an issue that so well flushes out the wingnuts.
It’s not quite correct to say it hurts any kind of rational conservatism. That is alas rare these days. The birthers aren’t and never will be that. The prevalence of wingnuts and the dearth of rational conservatives is a serious problem for the GOP. But I don’t know that it is anything the GOP can easily correct. There’s a sense in which the political parties have to take current political demographics as they are. Even if the wingnuts left the GOP en masse to found their Christian Right American Party, that would leave the GOP so small as to risk its continued existence. Rational conservatives don’t have a political home because they are relatively few. That’s not something that can be corrected by combating one particular piece of nuttery.

People just need to get over this birth certificate thing. I have four children. The first three are close in age so I didn’t request birth certificates for any of them until the third one was about 11 mos. When I got them, they were a “Certification of Live Birth” and not the actual long form people are speaking of. Four years later, when my youngest child was also 11 mos, the state of Georgia sent me the long form called a “Certificate of Live Birth.” I have no idea why I got the short form for the first three and the long form for the fourth. Same state, same hospital, same parents, same house. President Obama has the short form because that is what he was given.

This Jay character that calls himself a “journalist” is nothing more than a pawn propagandist for the most opaque adminstration in history. And he is helping perpetuate fraud on the American people.
JAY CAN YOU ACTUALLY DO SOME INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING?
THERE IS PROOF IF YOU ARE BRAVE ENOUGH TO SEEK IT:
Ask someone with digital graphic knowledge to show you the “anti-aliasing” around the overlaid copy characters in the ‘factcheck’ online COLB file…it is a 100%FORGERY. The digital tracks are in plain sight.
They have scrubbed the image off of the Fight the Smears site because it is stinking up the place.
Fortunately many have archived files of this.
In addition, this amatuer forgery–The “Certificate of Live Birth” or COLB– that was rush-posted online in July 2008 when this issue began to heat up– has serial numbers obliterated and no doctor signature, no listed hospital, no parental signatures, no hospital admin information.
Recall the passport file breach of March 2008?
McCain, Hillary and O’s files were tampered with?
Only Obama’s was “cauterized”…and a chief Obama supporter’s security company empoyee was found doing the cauterizing ( of personal info like place of birth etc).
3 weeks later the central witness in this investigation was shot in the head while he sat in his car.
Unsolved.
Kind of like Donald Young’s murder–the Trinity United (Rev Wright) gay choir director– unsolved murder in Dec 2007.
He told Larry Sinclair ( who shared crack with O in 1999) he’d been haing an affair with Barack. He bought it 90 days later.
Murder still unsolved.

Paul, of course Venezuela would have been a better target if it were all about oil. Like I expressly said, it is NOT all about oil. That was only part of the equation.
But wouldn’t you then have to agree- if the war in Iraq was about “liberating an oppressed population”- that China would have been a better target? They sentence old ladies to death in hard labor camps and murder political prisoners to harvest their organs. Besides that, there’s like 2 billion of them. OBVIOUSLY a bigger priority for “spreading freedom” than some third-world craphole in the desert.

HAHAHA too funny!!! We are STILL talking about this?!? My god, do repuglicans also get distracted by shiny objects and loud noises? Imagine the scope of the “conspiracy” that has to be in place in order to pull off the “great Birth Certificate Caper”!!
First===>>> The Repuglican governor of Hawaii has to be lying, (even though he voted for McCain and could’ve blown Obama out of the water MONTHS ago). He’s probably being paid off by Obama, (because everyone knows that he was born wealthy…..why he’s as rich as a Bush!!); AND the governor is probably waiting on his book deal to go through too.
SECOND=====>>>The two newspapers which printed the birth of Obama, (BACK IN 1961); has to be in on the conspiracy too. They probably knew, (like the Manchurian Candidate), the Obama would become the first black president of the US, (because there was a star in the east at his birth); and so concocted those false announcements. They plan on having a really lucrative book deal when this is over.
THIRD====>>>The State Registrar’s office has to be lying because they were in on it too from the beginning. PS: I heard they have a really lucrative book deal in the making.
The Most Conclusive Evidence That The Birther Conspiracy is Just Nonsense Is=====>> Alan, “I’ve had one too many hits of acid back in the 60s” Keys. If he believes in this birther nonsense then it has to be foolishness!!! The man believes he actually walked on water through his faith!!!! I mean, what is more conclusive than that!?!
It really shouldn’t be too hard to release a birth certificate, although after a year of stonewalling nobody would believe it was real at this point

This is very instructive! I’m learning a lot here.
I’ve learned that Barack Obama has produced his actual birth certificate (he hasn’t, he’s produced only a Certification of Live Birth), that the certification of live birth he produced proves he was born in Hawaii (it doesn’t – until 1972 a person born anywhere at all could have gotten a COLB) that medical staff has come forward to say he was born “there” (which hospital? Which person?) and that the birth notification proves he was born there (except there is no record of who put it in the paper – maybe just proud grandparents regardless of where he was born – and no one recalls his family ever living at that address, not even the next door neighbor (Beatrice Arakaki) who was there then and still lives there today). I also learned that if you mention any of this you must be a nutcake, a racist or both.
(Frankly, some of the so-called “birthers” are just that — just as some of the detractors will make up “facts” out of thin air to defend Mr. Obama. But the point is that you can doubt the legality of Mr. Obama’s presidency without being either.)
Now for what I haven’t learned. I haven’t learned is why, instead of making a five minute call and paying a few dollars in processing fees to get the “vault copy” of his birth certificate, Mr. Obama has spent a million dollars on lawyers who move heaven and earth to keep it in the vault. I also haven’t learned why his college records, which might show grant money that could only come to an international student, have also been buried. And I haven’t learned which hospital Mr. Obama was born in, since over a period of a couple of months he has claimed it was two different ones (so far).
Until these questions are answered, I will doubt the legality of Mr. Obama’s presidency. And despite the bluster and the insinuations, that does not make me a nutcake or a racist.
Until he comes across with evidence – real evidence – this is not going away.

We invaded Iraq because the lazy Republicans who discovered that Afghanistan and Bin Laden was way too much work, and erroneously thought that the Iraqis would just roll over like they did in 1991. In short, we invaded Iraq because we wanted to show how tough we were. No real reason.
By the way, fiscal conservatives, we’ve spent an estimated 3 TRILLION dollars in Iraq. Just who do you suppose will have to pay off that debt? Imagine just what our budget would have looked like if we hadn’t borrowed 3 TRILLION dollars and poured it down a hole in Iraq.

It seems to me that this sort of thing only benefits the other side. The more conservatives focus on nonsensical speculation, the easier it is for liberals to paint them as nutjobs. There is a segment of the Republican Party that is driving it towards marginalization, a process that began when the religious element overwhelmed much of the party’s platform.
One of the most damaging images to the McCain campaign, from the point of view of an educated person, was that pathetically dumb woman who stood up at one of his rallies and said she didn’t trust Obama because “he’s an Arab.” Though admittedly an awkward moment for McCain, he would earned a lot of credit if he had went further in refuting her, for example, by saying “you are a bigot lady. So what if he were of Arab descent?”
Republicans will maintain that such idiocy is on the fringe of their party, but I’m not so sure. I can recall a conversation I had with some so-called Christians, who, when I voiced my support for McCain in the primary, said: “Don’t vote for him. He isn’t a Christian, they brainwashed him in Vietnam to pretend to be a conservative until he gets elected.” These people were absolutely serious, and otherwise seemingly normal. Where did they get this info? The internet, of course.

Madeline, my own Indiana birth certificate (of which I got a copy of to get a driver’s license when I moved to Colorado), doesn’t list the doctor who was there when I was born.
Ken, nice slippery argument there. You have no proof that Obama was enrolled in college as an “international student”, but you are demanding that Obama somehow prove that he wasn’t? Not that you would believe him anyway. As for the birth announcement, it is a common newspaper practice for the newspapers to get the birth records from Vital Statistics. Where does Vital Statistics get the info, you ask? Why, they get it from BIRTH CERTIFICATES PROVIDED FROM THE HOSPITAL. Again, not that you’ll believe that, because you are simply compiling information that you feel backs up your predetermined conclusion.
A lot of dumbf*ck Southerners also believe that the earth is only 6,000 years old, so it’s no surprise you half-wits so desperately want to believe this “birther” nonsense.

You said…”The two newspapers which printed the birth of Obama, (BACK IN 1961); has to be in on the conspiracy too. They probably knew, (like the Manchurian Candidate), the Obama would become the first black president of the US, (because there was a star in the east at his birth); and so concocted those false announcements. They plan on having a really lucrative book deal when this is over.”
Now Deb,
Did you know that the address in the birth announcement (placed obviously by Stanley Ann’s mother, “Toot”)
“Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, 6085 Kalanianaole Hwy., son, Aug. 4.”
is a residence where Barack Sr and Ann NEVER lived?
>>According to affidavit, Beatrice Arakaki affirmed she was a neighbor of the address listed. She has lived at her current residence of 6075 Kalanianaole Highway from before 1961 to the present.
Moreover, Arakaki said she believed that when Obama lived with the Dunhams, his grandparents, the family address was in Waikiki, not on Kalanianaole Highway.<<
Baro ( the investigator) was able to determine the previous owners of the residence at 6085 Kalanianaole Highway – the alleged address of Obama’s parents when he was born – were Orland S. and Thelma S. (Young) Lefforge, both of whom are deceased.
Baro’s affidavit also documents that the Certification of Live Birth that Obama posted on his campaign website is not the original “long form” birth certificate issued in 1961 by the obstetrician or physician giving birth and the hospital where the baby was born.<<
This teenage mom ( she got pregnant at 17) wanted all the perks of a kid born in the US….and since Barack Jr was actually born in Coast Hosptial in Mombasa because Ann was not allowed ro fly so close to delivery– –and where Obama’s paternal grnadmother is on tape saying she was in the delivery room in Coast Hospital when he was born–she wasnt scompletley stupid….she had her mother cover for her……just so happned to use an address that wasnt in the family.

If he wants the issue to go away, all he had to do is show his compete live biirth certificate which includes hospital and docter attended birth. Yet, since 20 January, his campagin fund has spent $733,000 since then on liegal issues in the may finance report. It would also be interresting in what nationality he used for a passport when he visited Partistan when no US citizen could obtain a visa. What about his activities in the Ill state senate? The half-white, half-Arab guy won. Obama has no Negro blood.
The certificate Obama posted is like a driver’s license or Social Security card. At the time of Obama’s birth, Hawaii issued those certificates of live birth even to baby’s who had come to Hawaii as infants, but were not born there. The real birth certificate would include the name of the physician and the hospital.
Obama has publicly claimed to have been born in two different hospitals in Hawaii.
In Africa it is widely believed, taken for granted by many, that Obama was born in Kenya.
Americans have to present their birth cerificates on all sorts of occasions. It is certainly reasonable to require a candidate for President to do so. John McCain was required to prove his citizenship. Why not Obama?
This issue is not going away.
Put Away Your Crooked Speech

Why are these people afforded code names such as “birthers”, “teabaggers”, ‘Moral Majority-”Evangelicals”? Is it their race?
We need to stop speaking in code. Call them what these groups really are….racists, traitors, and segregationists and their children.
Let’s all stop participating in a lie. Tell the truth about these people.
All those people back in the day who tried not to let Black kids into schools and public areas didn’t just evaporate when President Johnson signed the Civil Rights laws. Somehow through the magic of the media, these people went from being called “Southern Democrats”, to “The Silent Majority”, to “The Moral Majority”, to now “Evangelicals” which is code for segregationists and their children.
Modern conservatism is code for segregationist agenda without (well with few) outright acts of public discrimination.
Same goes for the new phenomenon of “teabaggers”. The focus is on a supposed link to the Boston Tea Party, but the actual agenda is quite the opposite. These people are talking treason and rebellion straight up. If they were Black, or Latino, there would have been calls for their arrest and I’m sure many would have been killed by some “patriot”.
Now we have another phony moniker with these “birthers”. The media allows them to claim their concern is about country therefore the challenge of a birth certificate’s legitimacy. But that is not what this is about now, nor has it ever been. This is about a bunch of racists who “want their country” back from that Black guy in the White House! “My” and “our” is code for white folks, not all who hold some acceptable looking birth certificate. Heck, there are Americans that probably couldn’t produce a birth certificate if you asked them for it. I know for a fact that there are many rural and southern Black people who weren’t born in hospitals and couldn’t produce a certificate “signed by a doctor”, “signed by a hospital administrator”, “with a seal” etc… Yet they were born in this great country just the same and are full citizens. This is all a smokescreen.
Sure these groups overlap, but the point remains. We need to stop with the white privilege and start calling these people who, and what they really, truly, are.

Madeline & Stanley: According to affidavit, Beatrice Arakaki affirmed she was a neighbor of the address listed. She has lived at her current residence of 6075 Kalanianaole Highway from before 1961 to the present.
Not to disparage an elderly person, but the lady in question had to have been at least old enough to remember August 1961 which was 46 3/4 years ago………..Now you’re telling me she remembers DISTINCTLY everyone who ever lived on her street, OR she remembers this particular couple how? Can this same woman remember, who, without looking it up, won the World Series, SuperBowl, AND NBA finals that year too? (Which was probably more heavily reported anyway).
Moreover, Arakaki said she believed that when Obama lived with the Dunhams, his grandparents, the family address was in Waikiki, not on Kalanianaole Highway.
She BELIEVED, but is not SURE huh? Yet you BELIEVE wholeheartedly that she even knows what the heck she’s talking about!!!??? How does she even KNOW the family? Did she say that?
This is sooooo sad. Hey, for a lot of years i BELIEVED in the Easter Bunny and just KNEW it was real; but then, reality came, and blew that theory in the water!!! Maybe it’ll do the same for the “birthers”. But then again…….
PS: Don’t forget the republican Governor said Obama was born in Hawaii too……do you think he can be trusted? He looks a little shifty to me, especially around the eyes…….

You know sir, the truth about obozo. Us birthers finally started realizing, that in Feb or March of this year any reasonable person would understand by then that something is not right and to continue to dismiss
birther claims, makes you a knowing facilitator to un-Constitutional lawlessness. What would your profs from Penn State think about your dismissals of birthers’ claims? Some of us don’t like Obama’s POLICIES. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin so quit playing the race card all of the time.
Second, why is it that when liberals see a perceived “injustice” they want to reach into everyone’s pocket but their own? Most of us are where we are in life because of the choices we made and the sacrifices we either made or were unwilling to make. contrary to popular belief most conservatives were not born with a silver spoon in our mouths…most of us busted our butts to get to where we are when others were out playing.

Why in the world would anyone accept a document image on the Internet as proof of anything? I mean, seriously, people. A 9th grader could make that document on photoshop. Is it too much to ask that a document with Constiutional implications actually be revealed to the press so they could show everybody? A real piece of paper? So far, we’ve had an announcement by a HI government official that she has seen his original birth certificate (Hmmmm…she doesn’t say that the birthplace is Hawaii). I know it seems farfetched that she is covering for Obama, but haven’t you guys noticed the religious devotion given to this man by his followers? Would that be so outlandish that he could get one to dance around the issue so as to bury it for him?
I’m sorry. I’m no nutcase. I don’t wear tin foil hats (please stop using this term by the way. It’s just tedious at this point). But, I do think we are entitled to proof positive that he was born in the US. If you think he’s given us that, you are dreaming.

There is a distinct and verifiable difference between a C.O.L.B. (Certificate of Live Birth, and a Certified Birth Certificate (the so called long form version__NOT a super-duper-double-secret-probation-long-form_although you children do come up with some whoppers now and then).
The “COLB” is issued for kids born both foreign and domestically and is NOT a legal form of identification (neither is a newspaper announcement) nor does it display the name of the hospital, the attending doctor, or any signatures.
The “Certified Birth Certificate” (or long form) IS a legal form of identification and displays all of this information. Big difference.
And even a liberal should be able to discern that.
Liberalism is a self-inflicted mental disease that can only be cured by facts, reasoning, and common sense. “Feelings don’t come into play”.

As somebody who recently got my first passport, I didn’t have an orignal birth certificate (I love my parents, but they’re scatterbrained). So guess what what I found out? A copy issued from the State Dept. of Health is just a valid.
Also, show me the 10 Democratic U.S. Representatives that co-sponsored a “9/11 Truther” or “Grassy Knoll” bill because there are 10 Republicans who have co-sponsored the “Birther” bill.
Plus, I think the Obama administration loves this. It makes their opposition out to be right-wing lunatics more concerned with the location of his mother’s vagina then with policy and issues.

Pete – thanks for telling me what I do and don’t believe. I didn’t know I was in the presence of a mind reader.
As regards your points (the ones based on what I wrote, rather than what you divined), I don’t know how Barack Obama funded his schooling, nor did I claim to know. But the fact that he is hiding his school records suggests to me, as a matter of common logic, that there is something there he does not want us to see. I am raising the possibility that it might relate to his legal status.
Regarding the birth announcement, neither you nor I know how that announcement found its way into the paper – which is precisely the point I’m making. If it came from a hospital, which hospital did it come from? It certainly doesn’t mention one, does it?
This brings us to another practical consideration. Barack Obama is just 47 years old. That means if the doctor who delivered him was, say, 35 when he was born, he would be just 82 today and certainly might be alive. So might be any number of people there on the day of his birth. A 25 year old nurse would be just 72, a 30 year old food services person would be just 77, an 18 year old candy striper who helped out at the hospital would be just 65. Doesn’t it strike you as odd that not one person has come forth and said “I was there when the President of the United States was born”?
I suppose you could argue that it is unreasonable to expect them to remember an inconsequential birth all those years ago. But let’s remember that Mr. Obama’s mother was an 18 year old caucasian woman with a Black husband many years her senior. Interracial births were extremely rare at that time – and especially in Hawaii which had almost no Black population. Even in the last census (2002) Blacks comprised less than 2% of Hawaii’s total population. So I’m pretty confident it would have been noticed.
If you want to argue on facts, let’s go. If you want to look into a crystal ball and tell me what I’m thinking, try someone else.

All of a sudden, the laws that have been in place are no longer good enough for some people that claim to be citizens — the so-called birthers. Allen – the factcheck.com site goes to great lengths to prove that the COLB was valid. The problem is that a valid COLB does not in any way prove where Barack Obama was born. From 1911 to 1972 a birth certificate could be issued in Hawaii without proof that the child was born there (the Laws of the Territory, Act 96, enacted April 17, 1911). Barack Obama was born in 1961.
Forgetting Factcheck’s ties to Obama (it is run by the Annenberg Foundation, which Barack Obama, along with william ayers, was associated with to disperse grant money over a period of years), even if what they say is true it does not prove a thing about his birth.
Why are you folks so determine to ignore the single most obvious issue, which is that if Barack Obama is legal, all he has to do is request and show the birth certificate?

Posting KIA numbers is not equal to “almost celebrating” dead American soldiers. Not even close. Furthermore, your laughable assertions to the contrary, you’ve no idea what “purpose” (your term) such postings had, because you don’t remember them well enough to perform a simple google search to find them!
And RB, spare us the “I don’t have the time” dodge. You’ve been back here posting your lame comebacks; you could have found something by now.
If you had anything.
Which you don’t.
Want to know what’s really sad about all this? I’ve heard this kind of vile character assassination from conservatives, online, so often that the other day I wanted to post a link to a site that’s been tracking the number of documented civilian casualties in Iraq for some time now. And I did, but I was very careful about it because, frankly the site’s URL sounds somewhat exploitative, even though once you’re inside you realize it is decidedly not that at all—the information is well documented and presented soberly.
And I shouldn’t have to tiptoe around this stuff. But I do, because people like you have so coarsened the debate, it becomes necessary.
Bottom line is, real people died. Real people are still dying. I’m not celebrating, and it’s disgusting for you to assert that I am, and that I support those who do.
