That plane cost $44,000 per HOUR of flight. As I recal, it could fire accurately over 300 miles, over the horizon, and when put up against the other 107 or so planes in use today, had no issue whatsoever in demolishing it.

Problem is, the planes we've had troubles with are all passenger jetliners filled with hundreds of people. We don't have air-to-air dogfights and haven't since the days of World War II. Sure, there were some skirmishes between us and Russia, oh two or three DECADES ago, but no war. So why the hell fund something that takes billions for no forseeable gain to current defense? Oh, right, because to say no to new shiny overpriced inefficient weapons is un-Patriotic® (Patriotic is a brand name of the Republican party)

Sgt Steele - no one said dont defend yourself - I said we need the Marines more than we need yet another fighter. Just out of curiosity, which third world POS country do you think is going to come kick our ass? And Sgt, since you used the term, not me, which branch of the military were/are you in to label yourself Sgt? I was in 12 years. AF Capt, 33TFW, 58TFS F15 - both of my children are military - one Marine Lt - Cherry Point NC _ one tour to Iraq second AF Capt 9th SOW special ops - two tours to Iraq. Not that it matters, since by the protection of our military, everyone in this country is entitled to express their opinion, but I and my family have actually defended this country, not just added a label.

IReport - well done - how long did it take you to find that one. A report from the "Economic Times" dont suppose there is maybe the possibility of bias and taking things out of context do you? Read/research a little more - you can find people with opinions on both sides of is global warming real? The VAST, VAST, VAST majority of informed scientist acknowledge the fact that it is happening. Whether humans have any role is questionable. The point is dont hide your head and scream NO, NO, NO - continue to look/ search for answers so you can make informed decisions. Kinada the point of how it is suppose to work is ready, aim, fire - not fire, aim, ready or maybe hide and hope it will go away.

Ga Values @ 8:43am

With all due respect to you:
The problem with your posting is the mention of Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) That guy is a whimpy, gasbag, girlie-man. I'll bet someone could pinch his wife's backside right in front of him and he wouldn't have the courage to jump in that person's face. Be a man. Act like a man. Have some self respect. That Wyden character is a bloated floater.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), shortly before the vote, noted that National Guard members from his state are not asking for more F-22s but for more body armor and boots. Continuing the program "defies common sense," he said, as health-care requirements and other economic needs are more imminent.
