Even your own link gave the “Senator” a C-.

My link was there to provide an audio record, nothing more. I know nothing of this Bob Collins person, nor of any axes he may have to grind.

You going to admit that you were misinformed about the Franken's actual time management? and about the nature of his questions?

To have just been sworn in, he handled himself very well. All politicians like to tell jokes and elicit laughter.

Yeah, DB, I read all the rest of the "exchange". Sophomoric at best. Illiterate is more descriptive. When you're in way over your head, crack a joke.

You guys own this bozo. Get used to 5 1/2 more years of that silliness.

Even your own link gave the "Senator" a C-.

When faced with one of the most important and far-reaching decisions he’ll ever make, Franken asks Sotomayor if she knew which case Perry Mason lost.

What nonsense.

Here is a link to audio of his questions, along with a rough transcript. I know you won't bother to listen to any of it, but I decided to make a note of the total time, and the point at which Franken asked about Perry Mason.

He had about a half hour. His questions focused on:

1. FCC regs,

2. what she thought of the term "activist",

3. the Voting Rights Act,

4. Gross v. FBL Financial Services, and

5. privacy rights.

At around the 28.42 mark, Franken says "I have a Round 2" and says he'll have more questions that he'd like to cover, on another day, but with his whopping 1 minute and 16 seconds left, which is not enough time to get into the weeds of the kind of policy wonkery he'd covered already, he finally lightens up and, yes, asks the Perry Mason question. He had one (1) one-liner--a genuinely funny one: "Didn't the White House prepare you for that?"--and wrapped up.

Compare that time management to the umteenth time I've heard this Republican senator or that go on and on and ON about the "wise latina" speech, and ignore her actual case work.

And Dave, that observation of mine is based on actual raw-audio-feeds I've heard when time has permitted, podcast over at wnyc.org, not sound-bitey stuff fed to me by pundits.

Dave R

As if the guy doesn't get enough attention....

TNGelding

Moyers says something I can agree with. Good start for the day.

Report/Whine

Might I suggest Liberal Democrats burnish their credentials and call hearings on the various ways the Roosevelt Administration trashed our liberties and laws in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor? It would provide a fine historical comparison between Presidents Roosevelt and Bush.

Witnessing the current attempt by liberal Democrats in Congress to investigate CIA officers and possibly prosecute them for a covert initiative allegedly undertaken in time of war (a war that is still going on) inspires a happy thought. Perhaps these liberals have a death wish. The American people do not want another 9/11 attack on our shores. They approve of operations against al Qaeda, covert or otherwise. If the liberals continue in their harassment of the CIA for its efforts to protect American national security, for a certitude the electorate will turn these liberals out. Sayonara, my liberal friends! -Bob Tyrell
