It really wasn’t Mark Sanford’s fault

This is a copy of the Appalachian Trail map that my sources say was given to Gov. Sanford for his hike. So his confusion is perfectly understandable. I’m also told that the source of the faulty map was a South Carolina Capitol reporter, which of course makes this entire mess the media’s fault, as many have suggested.

UPDATE:

Sanford just had his press conference, in which he confessed to cheating on his wife and apologized to all who had faith in him. He handled it about as well as could be expected, explaining a classless act in a pretty classy fashion.

Maybe you should rerun the thread from the other day on the way the Republican Party should go. Personally, I’d advise them to be just like Democrats – take all the sex stuff out of the agenda. Don’t even pretend to go for the values. Something happens, just say ‘oops, what a guy’ and move on. All a party does when they make that a major plank is set themselves up for failure. Let the local GOPs embrace it, if they want. Or tell them to come up with their own party. But enough of this self inflicted misery played out on the national stage.

Meanwhile in Iran – listened to a report of one hospital worker, said 9 deaths in their hospital from security forces, 28 gunshots, fear everywhere. Likely Mousavi’s under house arrest. Reporter noted that from the time the unrest started with Khomeni to the overthrow was a year. Keep hoping…

And a yellow card is a really bad foul, but not a nad kicker foul. Like you accidentally on purpose knock someone in the shin with your foot up (which is dangerous because you could actually break your own leg doing that), or if you get real rowdy in a game and the ref calls you down and you don’t keep your fouls under control – he’ll eventually give you a yellow card. And if you get two yellows in a game – you get a red, and sit out the next game, AND your team is down a guy.

It’s always satisfying when your right, it sure beats being wrong.

Here:

Admit it, jay….you TiVo soaps don’tcha?

Dusty says:
Well, Gov. Sanford is a big boy now and did not tell the press where he was going. But he DID tell the ones who needed to know and THEY kept their mouths shut or made excuses to the busybodies.

How about that? Did you hear how every newspaper and news agency in the country kept the missing reporter captured in Afghanistan by the Taliban a BIG SECRET for SEVEN MONTHS and nobody would mention his situation or where he was !!! Only journalists are allowed to disappear quietly.

Come to think of it, I have no idea where Obama might be. Michelle said he was working on papers. The girls said he might be playing basketball. Biden said “You’re asking me?” But the Portuguese water pup said he was behind the shrubbery smoking a cigarette. That doggone dog can’t keep a secret!

Then Tank speaks up:
Jay,

And this is newsworthy? Economy, unemployment, North Korea, Iran and Perez Hilton; and this is the best you can come up with?

What a hack.

Then Davo bleats:
“Again, if Sanford’s staff knew where he was all along, why did the state vehicle he was driving have to be “tracked down” to Hartsfield? And what connection does that have to the Appalachian Trail?”

Why don’t you pry that plagarizing A$$ of yours off the couch and find out the facts of this deep, dark mystery for yourself.

…oh wait…

…that’s what reporters do.

Here’s what you do…

Your a hack, Bookman. Nothing original ever comes from you

Then Joel Edge:
Seems like the media wants to attack anyone from the Republicans who might be a challenge in the coming years. Kind of early to start the campaign against Sanford isn’t it?

Mike dismisses:
Yawn. Hyper-partisan liberal blogger contests argument of hyper-partisan conservative pundit regarding story of zero importance to anyone other than a hyper-partisan.

Well, I guess that is more interesting than commenting on the dwindling prospects for healthcare reform or anything else meaningful.

Kayaker Chimes in:
Did it ever cross Bookman’s mind that this guy just wanted some time alone? The Trail is one of the main tourist attractions of his state and what better way to promote SC than to spend some time on the Trail. The governor being gone for five days…. that why we elect Lt Governors.
And USinUK…. John Edwards is the poster child for the kind of behavior in your post. Last time I looked, he was a Democrat.

Of course Dusty laments on Wooty’s blog:
Jim Wooten,

You really got this one right. The absence of the SC governor is not a crisis to anyone but snoops. South Carolina is doing just fine. I do worry a bit about some of the bloggers here.

Every imaginable sex connected incident is mentioned by liberals whose minds can’t seem to get away from such thoughts.

Clean it up, ladies & gentlemen. The governor took a vacation. Maybe you need one too.

The @@ drops an F bomb on Wooty’s blog:
The funniest thing about all the hoopla, Jim, is that no matter where I go, liberals are implying SEX. Kinda lends credence to the study done proving that conservatives have better sex lives while liberals LUV talkin’ bout it among “their circle” of online friends.

Apologies for being crude but when it comes to liberals blogging and screwing political opponents is not a life I’d call productive.

Two things –

1) Most of the quotes you cite claim that this story is not particularly newsworthy. My guess is that most of those people feel the same way. I know I do.

2) My point to you was that your glee and excitement over this as if you have actually accomplished something or won some important struggle makes me sad for you.

Yay, good news from the US soccer team and the gop are in a death spiral :)

Sadly, Texas whooped LSU last night with great pitching but LSU will win their 6th Championship.
