This is pretty funny.
In an April Fool’s spoof, Car and Driver’s website reported that Barack Obama was forcing GM and Chrysler to drop their NASCAR sponsorships as a condition of getting bailout money.
Rush Limbaugh got a giggle out of it, even if he saw right through it:
“Every professional practical joker such as myself knows: If you really want to pull something off, don’t do it on a day where people are going to immediately doubt it. It’s absolutely silly. Car and Driver has a phony page on the website saying Obama has banned Ford, Chevy, and a bunch of others from NASCAR. Well, now, who’s going to believe this?”
Ann Coulter would. She included the bogus NASCAR item in her column as evidence of Obama’s misplaced priorities.
That was yesterday, and as of 6:30 p.m. the column was still up on the website, error included.
Do you think no one has dared to tell her yet? (H/T/ Washington Monthly)

I guess someone has their sarcasm detector turned off or just isn’t familiar with Ann’s work. If you’ll notice there are several things stated as facts in Ann’s column, the NASCAR bit isn’t one of them.

It’s only a matter of time. NASCAR represents everything Obama hates. As soon as he finds a proper angle of attack, it’s over. That is why this was so easy to believe.
Reminds me of Cynthia repeating the SNL bit about Sarah Palin being able to see Russia from her house in the AJC. Some people just want to believe things that support their views.

Ann Coulter is the wicked witch of the East to most liberals. She is the anti-Christ, the idiot right wing journalist who calls it like it is. Yet, when you listen to what she has to say, most times, she is spot on. There have to be people like her in the mix to offset some of these crazy left wing crap that permeates every blog. She and Rove, Gingrich, O’Reilly, Hannity, Malkin, McWhorter, Cosby, Williams, Elder, Steele….. but you libs have probably never read anything that the above have written. You continue to call these people names, defile their opinions and pretend that you have all of the answers. You just can’t tolerate some who disagrees with you. Anyone who does this is fair game. Someone cannot have a distaff opinion or he/she is…. you label it but it is never pretty. What has happened to good debate without all of the name calling, etc. Are we so centered on our own opinion that we cannot admit that there might be another way of looking at things?

Make note of their knee jerk reactions and squealing wails of “outrage” over the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, Bachman and the arch enemy of the idiotic, Sarah “Hotstuff” Palin.

Mrs. G:
This is what was portrayed in those pictures that excited you so:
The G-20 summit of world leaders in London concluded on Thursday with immense fanfare and self-congratulation. The threats of walking out, widespread sniping and expressions of pessimism by leaders on Wednesday prior to the summit were replaced by enthusiasm, optimism and back patting.
But this is the reality of what took place there:
Overall, the G-20 concludes with no guarantees that another financial crisis will not strike again, something that Berlin wanted to come away with via strong global financial regulations. Therefore, despite the news of general satisfaction with the accomplishments of the G-20 summit, Berlin and Paris will be leaving London for Baden-Baden, Germany, and the NATO summit thinking that it is time to return the favor (or lack thereof).
…and this is what you have to look forward to:
This will specifically mean that the United States is not going to find an accommodating Europe — and certainly not an accommodating Germany — when it comes to the efforts in Afghanistan, nor a unified NATO ready to take on a resurgent Russia.
This just means that we are in store for another “successful” summit at the conclusion of which the European leaders and the U.S. will cite their satisfaction at the outcome and congratulate each other before the press at a job well done. Under the rhetoric however the U.S. and “Old Europe” will have grown even further apart.
That’s the Europe that you libs hold in such high regard.

Obama, Pentagon differ on whether Afghanistan is ‘America’s war’
Posted: 04:15 PM ET
From CNN Political Producer Peter Hamby
Obama said of Afghanistan: ‘I think it’s America’s war.’
WASHINGTON (CNN) – There appears to be a bit of daylight between President Obama and a top Pentagon official on the matter of whether the conflict in Afghanistan is “America’s war.”
After the president unveiled his new strategy to combat extremists in Afghanistan last week, CBS’ Bob Scheiffer asked Obama on his Sunday show: “This has really now become your war, hasn’t it?”
“I think it’s America’s war,” Obama responded. “And it’s the same war that we initiated after 9/11 as a consequence of those attacks on 3,000 Americans who were just going about their daily round. And the focus over the last seven years I think has been lost.”
But in testimony to the House Armed Services Committee, Michele Flournoy, the Pentagon’s Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, had a different perspective.
“I want to assure you that we do not think of this as America’s war,” Flournoy told committee members. “We think of this, of defeating al Qaeda and dealing with its extremist allies, as an international challenge and an international responsibility. This is a burden that the international community must share.”

“The House GOP budget was up for a vote a few minutes ago and it…failed miserably; 137 in support, 293 (including 38 Republicans) against. Those are the only 38 Republicans in the House who don’t think we need a spending freeze and tax cuts for the rich at this particular historical moment. However, none of those 38 civic-minded souls voted for the Democratic budget, which just passed 233-196.”

My comments last p.m. were not at the expense of the transgendered. Freud theorized that all girls go through a stage of development, at age 3-5 wherein they learn that they have no penis, blame their mother, and bond with their father. To be “fair and balanced” little boys go thruogh a similar phase which he called castration anxiety. My point, which was not intended as a joke, is that Ms. Coulter fixated (Freud’s word)on this stage in her life. She never went to the next phase where she would have formed bonds with peer groups. Ms. Coulter’s career has always been in fields that is predominately male oriented–law, and conservative political puditry.
