"Of course, Obama’s clear statement doesn’t mean that the right will stop getting hysterical about this issue. That is what they do, that is what they will continue to do, and the rest of the country will increasingly tune them out as a result."

So Americans should not be diligent in protecting their civil liberities? They should just assume that the freedoms they have, and many have fought and died for, will always be there?

Trust Obama? Trust Clinton? Trust Bush? Trust Nixon? Hell no! I'll trust myself and anyone who implies that I should do otherwise has no credibility with me.

Not as many people on the left listen to talk radio because people on the left read.

Yeah, pretty easy to do when you have nothing else to do than sit around all day. For those people who actually work for a living, supporting those on the left who want a handout and don't work, we can listen AND work. Multi-tasking is a great thing.

Chad,
How do you assume that dems will pick up more seats in 2010? If history repeats itself (and it has from time to time.. or so i have heard) it will be just like the year 2002 as dems started slowly adding seats. It is a cycle. Also, im so glad that us guys who consider them selves more conservative are losing everything. Just like in Ga, when saxby won by over 15 percent. Hmmmmmmmmm... anyway "live long, love life, be free'

Notice that Bookman was wise enough to stay away from supporting the so called Fairness Doctrine. This is nothing short of a piece of garbage and the next step towards socialism even communism.

Regardless of which administration is in, we should NEVER want a piece of legislation that dictates what is said politically through print, radio or television. This then gives the government the right to decide was is 'fair'. At the present time, the left is very happy with the existing government. Hypothetically, let's say the Republicans are voted in as the majority and we have a new President, say from Louisiana. Do you want the government to decide what is 'fair' in any of the three forms of media? Do you want them to control what is stated on the Internet? It's an easy answer - 'no'.

This idea is a stupid one and one that all Americans should stand up and fight against. It's simple, If you do not like what is said on talk radio - turn the channel. If you feel the paper has gone too far to the left, cancel your subscription. This is a free market and you have multiple media options. It's a no brainer folks.

gttim,
maybe you should read before posting. You claim that we are bragging about O’Reilly.

CommunistAJC, maybe you should start reading what you write. You wingnuts always brag about O'Reilly, like you have been doing on this thread. You always cherry pick data. You do not want to face the fact that a really small number of people actually watch him. You throw names around constantly, yet whine like babies when you think you have been slighted. You are thin skinned. You are mostly liars. And yet I laugh when I read your ignorant and offensive comments. You turn off more people than you could possibly know. When people read your hundreds of postings, and all the other wingnuts who think they are somehow hurting the AJC by their vile posts, they realize who you are and that they do not want to be associated with you. Oh, and also, the AJC makes money off you repeated page views! You just do not have a clue, do you.

John Stossel is giving the current right wing idiocy about each of the 3.5 million jobs costing 225 dollars of the stimulus package.

What is being left out is that before a BUSINESS hires a new person for a job, on average they have to have made an extra 400,000 dollars in profit to justify hiring a person at the median national wage of 20 dollars an hour.

So the stimulus will be creating 400,000 dollars for every business that hired one of those 3.5 million people

The government isnt simply taking the stimulus package and hiring 3.5 million in civil service jobs. Its creating a massive amount of profits for the businesses that benefit from the stimulus and then they are going to hire new employees from those profits, because they need these new employees to keep up with their increased business.

That is for each 20 dollar an hour job created by the stimulus, that person will be making 200 dollars an hour for the person who hired them, on average.

Even minimum wage jobs in big box stores make many times more for their employee per year than they are paid. The large discount stores get 189,000 dollars per year in profits from the work of their minimum wage, no benefit employees.

Again more conservative distraction. For each job created by the stimulus, the businesses hiring those people, on average will make ten times more than they are paying them per new hire.

Not at all. When the fairness doctrine was overturned by Reagan, there were two parts. While stations no longer have to allow equal time to opposing points of view, the law still requires them to cover anything that is of great national importance. Like the economy. So, for examply, Obama could hold an hour long speech about the economy and stimulus, right in the middle of the peak hours of a Rush Limbaugh radio talk show, or in the middle of Sean Hannity's television program and the networks are required to pre-empt both for the presidential speech. This is nothing new, it has been the law since the Fairness Doctrine was overturned. No one has actually ever taken advantage of it fully. The Obama people intend to take advantage of the law as it exists. And this will prevent anyone from immediately being able to give an opposing viewpoint until the next day.
