Only Romney & Paul on Virginia Ballot

Officials in the Commonwealth of Virginia have announced that only Mitt Romney and Ron Paul qualified for the Super Tuesday ballot, dealing a setback to the campaigns of both Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich.

Backers of both Perry and Gringrich submitted more than the 10,000 signatures needed, but not all were judged to be valid by Virginia elections officials.

“Only a failed system excludes four out of the six major candidates seeking access to the ballot," said Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond, referring to the fact that Michele Bachmann, Jon Huntsman and Rick Santorum also won't be on the Virginia ballot.

"Voters deserve the right to vote for any top contender, especially leading candidates," Hammond said in a Saturday morning statement.

While Hammond vowed to wage a write-in campaign, this news was clearly a victory for Mitt Romney's campaign, at least for now.

But what if Romney stumbles early? Then the Old Dominion could truly be up for grabs in early March.

Enter your comments hereGingrich, Romney, Obama are Chicken Hawks; too Chicken to serve in the military but too hawkish to start another war for other people to fight and die in. They are cowards and bullies; not a good combination.

I’m a military veteran and the troops and veterans cannot stand Chicken Hawks like Gingrich.

Ron Paul is pro-peace, pro-freedom, pro-right-to-bear-arms and anti-NYC-bankster.

Such a sad day for Newtie, maybe he will take me jewelry shopping to cheer him up. I already told him I’m voting for Ron Paul, just to watch him make those sad puppy dog eyes. Newtie, newtie, newtie, such a cuddly cutie. I can’t figure out why all of America isn’t in love with this rolly polly love doll!!

That mean old mormon romney probably bribed people to sign there names as mickey mouse and pooh bear just so Newtie wouldn’t get enough signatures. I know for a fact that I signed names out of the phone book over 300 times, so there must be enough valid signatures.

Well maybe we can take a cruise on election day, though Newtie says the President really gets to take fabbbbulous vacations. Hawaii, oh I wish newtie were president newt then we could be on vacation all year round.

Really?

“But what if Romney stumbles early? Then the Old Dominion could truly be up for grabs in early March.”

No mention that Ron Paul could win – only Mitt Romney could lose.

So now that Paul has the lead in Iowa and it’s only Paul and Romney on the Virginia primary ballot, neither Iowa or Virginia will count. Wonder how many republican primaries and caucuses Paul must make irrelevant before the republican party defaults to bringing McCain back from the ‘08 grave as the official candidate.

Newt is pathetic. Not only is he a hypocrite and a ChickenHawk, he’s an unorganized looser as well. Doesn’t he live in VA, and he can’t even get on the ballet? Pathetic. How could anyone seriously want that looser as President. Wake up America! Demand truth and principles! Vote Ron Paul!

On one hand, Newt’s right. 10,000 signatures unfairly burdens lesser known and lesser funded candidates. On the other hand, if he had assisted previous Presidential candidates, he could have raised this issue on their behalf – years ago.

The irony is that Newt’s making noises about Paul’s ability to manage his newsletters 20 years ago. He’s questioning Paul’s ability to be president. Well, Paul managed to get on the ballot in Virginia. This is rich.

Read it and weep Gingrich:

Va. Code section 24.2-529 prohibits write-in ballots in primaries. The rules require 10,000 signatures statewide, including a certain number in each of the state’s congressional districts.

Left-off Bachmann now believes Virginia is working on a nuclear bomb and will wipe Minnesota off the map in just a few months. And ground zero will be her house.

I find it interesting that Gingrich blames the ballot access system his party creates and institutionalizes — one designed to keep the unannointed off the ballot — while an establishment “outlier” like Ron Paul figures out how to navigate the system.

First of all, Paulbots, Ron Paul will never win the nomination and if he does than Obama is shoe-in. Frankly, I am an anybody but Obama voter with one exception, Ron Paul. In the case of Ron Paul versus Obama, I pick liquidation and moving to Panama.
That being said, I think this is another example of the establishment trying to ram Romney down our throats. The only reason Ron Paul is on the ballot on Virginia too is the GOP didn’t want to make what they were doing too obvious. Ron Paul had enough support and signatures that it could be plausible for the GOP to say “well him and Romney are the only ones who met the qualifications” while at the same time pitting Romney against a candidate they are reasonably sure Romney can beat.

If he can’t even run his campaign, it sure has me worried for him to have keys to the White House. To blame the state regulations for not allowing a write-in is so typical. Here is nothing but a case of shear stupidity, nothing else. Well, nothing that can be published here..

Hahahaha! This is rich! Maybe Newt can bring some Tiffany baubles to “reclarify” things for the Virginia folks who decided he didn’t have enough signatures. Really, really sad, this guy. I bet he puts on 10 more pounds and hunts another wife–this one just isn’t doing it anymore. And “they will have a write-in,” when it isn’t even allowed! Shows how much they know about Virginia, huh, and he is a resident! Think what a great job this guy would do as President! He’d be even worse than the Shrub, even though he sounds smarter.

How many more will the GOP run through? Surely there is ONE decent, intelligent Republican who could be offered? For the sake of the country, we need strong and intelligent debate about the future–from both sides. Or every side, if you count libertarians, Tea Partiers, and the lunatic fringe.

Mitt Romney promises to continue all my policies: tax cuts for the rich, more wars, no help for New Orleans, and disastrous economic policies.

I know the only thing that Newt Gingrich cared about was making millions off his government service. He is so inept at running a Presidential campaign that he couldn’t make it on the ballot in Missouri or Virginia. His books will now sell as well as my autobiography. Not even the Koch Brothers will pay to have him speak at their right wing nut festivals, so good bye speaking fees. I don’t think he will return to spouting out dumb opinions on Fox News.

I thought that Americans would no longer hear from Newt after he resigned as speaker in disgrace in 1998. Maybe now we will be free of ego and hair brain ideas.

Ron Paul has some good policies, and some out of this world ones, however isolation is not feasable.
Mitt Romney changes his position everytime the wind blows.
Newt Gingrich is arrogant and has no respect for much of anything except for the millions more he wants to make.
The republican party will not support a candidate that is not so far to the right, or is willing to work across party lines that a viable candidate will not be found.
President Obama is going to win this election.

Ron Paul can’t win…I feel like I have heard this one before. Maybe you guys can get your head out of your rear end and realize that America might actually be ready for a real change. Newt and Romney are the same ol, same ol. Guess what, they are the reason America said in 2008, “ya know, those republicans haven’t really done anything worthwhile, lets go for this Hussein guy and see what happens”.Ron Paul will bring in the Independent votes along with the republican vote. If all you republicans care about is “anyone but Obama” than your best chance is Ron Paul. Back the same guy the independents are backing and you have someone to beat Pres Hussein. God forbid we get a president who wants to do away our enormous debt.
