2010 Chastain concert Series A Lineup: Sting, Harry Connick Jr., Styx, Jeff Beck, Backstreet Boys and more

Check out the crowd at the Earth, Wind & Fire show at Chastain Park Amphitheatre last year. Think the shows below will draw the same kind of crowd? AJC file photo

Spotted first on the Atlanta Music Scene Blog: this year’s Chastain concert Series A lineup includes hitmakers of decades past, and more announcements are on the way. The Series B lineup should be released soon, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will announcement will come later, too.

The Series A show that perplexes me: KC & the Sunshine Band performing with MC Hammer. Huh-who? How did those become a pair, I wonder?

Here’s the list:

April 24: Hall & Oates with special guest Todd Rundgren
May 1:
Gipsy Kings
May 8:
ZZ Top with special guest Jonathan Tyler & Northern Lights
June 3:
Backstreet Boys with special guest TBA
June 6:
Jethro Tull with special guest Ian Hunter
June 7:
Styx, Foreigner & Kansas
June 11:
Jeff Beck with special guest Imelda May
June 13:
KC & The Sunshine Band & MC Hammer
June 19:
Harry Connick Jr. & Orchestra
June 28:
An Evening with Sting, featuring the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra (Non Table Set-Up/No Coolers or Carry-Ins)
July 1:
REO Speedwagon & Pat Benatar
July 12:
Chicago and The Doobie Brothers

Maybe Jeff Beck…MAYBE. It looks like a bunch of very lame nostalgia acts.

One of my favorite quotes I’ve heard at Chastain…”This is weird; I’ve never played for a bunch of sit down eaters before”

I hate Chastain. the setup is backwards as the people who are there for a dinner show need to sit their a$$es in the back where they belong.

Would not spend my money for any of these! Agree with Rocker!

Lighten up on KC & MC . . . who would’ve thought BB & Willie would have been as perfect together (right there @ Chastain) as they are, eh?

Wouldn’t it be easier, and cheaper to just turn the radio on? Most of the above were over rated and over hyped in the 80’s and if I have to hear one more unimaginative song form ZZ Top I will capture and eat a manatee.

Lame lineup. Not a current star in the bunch. I’ll pass.

Enter your comments here We saw Chuck Berry & Bo Didley there in 1988 & had a great time. And in 2002 we saw Harry Connick Jr.! Always a great time at Chastain Park.

We love KC & Hammer. What a pair. I must admit, this should be a very “interesting” yet, entertaining show! We live in North Carolina but we are so there!
