New Fulton County dog parks open — what’s your favorite?

If you and your pooch are looking for new place to explore, there are a few new options around Atlanta.

First, an airport dog park opened in November near the new transportation center at Hartsfield-Jackson. It will give four-legged travelers a place to stretch out and play, but unless they’re frequent travelers, I doubt many locals will make this 1,000-square foot park a regular destination. You can see more of it in this video, too.

Another new dog park,  Canine Crossing Dog Park, recently opened behind the South Fulton Government Service Center. It’s five fenced acres split into two sections — one for dogs less than 20 pounds, one for larger dogs — and operated by the Fulton County Parks and Recreation Department. It even has restrooms for humans.

Of course, there are dog parks (and dog-friendly spots) all over metro Atlanta. Here’s a (slightly outdated, but still useful) map of Atlanta dog parks. Do you know of any other new parks? Share your suggestions in the comments!

Want to go? Canine Crossing Dog Park. 6 a.m.-10 p.m. every day. Free. 4951 Camp Dr., College Park. 770-306-3010, www.co.fulton.ga.us.

SRP, that’s great! We’ve got two pitties at home, too, and I often wish there was a nearby dog park that would welcome them. Have fun!

Yippy…As a resident of South Fulton, I’m am so glad and excited South Fulton has a dog park. My very active American Pit Bull Terrier will finally get an opportunity to social with other dogs. Thank goodness. Kudos….Mr, Edwards.

czBrat — The new Canine Crossing park is definitely south of 20, and claims to be South Fulton’s only dog park. There’s also ParkGrounds, the coffee shop/dog park combo — it’s still north of 20, but not by much. http://www.parkgrounds.com/

Great story! I know that some dog parks frown upon – or even prohibit – some breeds so its nice to see that the new Airport dog park welcomes post-apocalyptic robo-dogs. My question is, how will its owner get him/her through security?
