Time for a new My Scene! As always, we’re trying to find what the non-tourists do for fun around Atlanta.
If someone you know has something to say about fun in Atlanta, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org — your scene might be the one we feature next.
And now, Ms. Sin Lucas’ idea of a good time around Atlanta…
Name: Sin Lucas
By day: Editor-in-chief of The Silver Tongue, a music Web site.
By night: hanging out with family, concerts and sleep, if I can manage it.
Most memorably fun time out in Atlanta: Mastodon played a hometown show in Atlanta back in May and me and my friend Val grabbed sushi (our favorite meal) before the show, rocked out…right next to the speakers and headed to El Myr. My ears were ringing for days, but we had fun.
Atlanta’s entertainment scene is…: making a comeback.
Place to eat or drink: The Vortex
Place to hang out with friends: Smith’s Olde Bar. It’s a cool place to hang out and grab a drink.
Place to go alone: Barnes & Noble. I’m a big nerd, I love to read. I go there and sit on the floor and read their books for free.
Place to meet new people: Eddie’s Attic, Smith’s Olde Bar, El Myr, almost any of the local pubs and bars.
Place to take visitors: Little 5 Points. I love that place. You have your shopping, your bars, and your restaurants. Then you can hit the Star Bar for some live music. Decatur Square is also nice. There are plenty of places to eat, nice boutiques and Eddie’s Attic for your live music fix.
Place to people watch: Again, Little 5 Points. You have your rockers, hippies, Rastafarians, people that moved to that area to be trendy and only come out to speed walk with their dogs.
Place to go for a day trip: My bed…I need my 30 minute power nap.
