Maybe it’s because it’s October and Halloween is ever-closer, or it’s that the weather broke, and it’s a much better time for the undead to rise up from the ground.

Whatever it is, there’s an awful lot of zombie-horror-cemetery celebrating going on this weekend. Here’s a look at some special events, other than the usual haunted houses and ghost tours:

• Atlanta Horrorfest IV includes live music, an art show, film festival and Zombie Walk, at venues like Lenny’s Bar, 486 Decatur Street S.E., Atlanta and The Highlander, 938 Monroe Dr., Atlanta

• Buried Alive Film Festival, presented by Atlanta Horrorfest, runs Oct. 2-3. For more details, check out the Plaza Theatre, 1409 Ponce De Leon Avenue.

• Zombie Walk, another part of Horrorfest, begins at Lenny’s Bar, continues to Oakland Cemetery, downtown Atlanta and ends with a MARTA ride from Five Points to King Memorial Station. The walk begins at 3 p.m., but show up as early as noon for proper zombie  makeup. Free, but do bring MARTA fare.
• While those zombies are walking near Oakland Cemetery, there’s Sunday in the Park, a Victorian street festival that runs noon-6 p.m. $3 suggested donation, free parking. Oakland Cemetery, 248 Oakland Avenue S.E., Atlanta.

• Zombieland, a new Woody Harrelson movie that filmed around Atlanta, opens this weekend.
