Thrashers acquisition of Artyukhin begins Trade-A-Palooza 2010

OK…by now I’m sure you’ve seen C-Viv’s report that the Thrashers made a trade with the Anaheim Ducks. Heading this way is 26-year old Russian Evgeny Artyukhin…a 6’-4” forward who was Tampa Bay’s selection with the 94th overall draft pick in 2001…the first of what is sure to be other transactions to come this week Trade-A-Paloosa 2010.

Artyukhin has scored 4 goals and 5 assists so far in 37 games played for the Ducks with an EVEN +/- rating and 41 PIM. Last season for the Bolts he played in 73 games and produced 6 goals and 16 overall points, was a +1 with 151 PIM. In 2005-06, he played in 72 games scoring 4 goals 13 assists, was a –4 with 90 PIM while with Tampa Bay…in between he played in Russia.

He is slated to be a UFA this summer and is finishing off a contract that pays him right at $950,000. Last January 26, he played in Atlanta when the Ducks were in town…goose eggs across the score sheet in just 5:49 minutes of play on the ice.
