I asked the question-so let me provide my answer, Zherdev or Malhotra.

As much as I have dissed Manny, I would take him over NZ. Zherdev just has too many people down on him, in and out of the game. Malhotra plays both ends of the rink and you never have enough centers.

Saku Koivu would have cost $3.25 million, and not impacted our cap. Perhaps Kovy didn’t want him? Or, more than likely, Koivu wasn’t interested in Atlanta.

I think he wanted Antro… and the fact he was cheaper, Waddell was more than happy to oblige.

Zherdev is a guy who’s ceiling is potentially worth double his asking price… a Waddell special… the trick is getting him to perform at a high level.

Smoothie, I just read that link of your’s. I think Antro will add the same thing to Kovalchuk’s line that Tkachuk added. Put Peverley out there to set them both up and it makes nice – One sniper, one banger and one passer.

GaVaHokie, I am doubtful the money is there for Zherdev. If we were able to spend the money to get $4 mil on Antro and $4 mil on Zherdev, I think Kovalchuk would’ve been more pleased combining that on $6+ mil on Cammalerri instead. Or do you think he wanted Antro so badly that he would’ve passed on Cammalleri?
