Four Black College teams in national rankings

Four Black College teams are ranked in this week’s Division II and FCS national polls.

Tuskegee edged Albany State in the battle of SIAC titans last weekend, but the Rams are still ranked ahead of the Golden Tigers in this week’s AFCA Division II coaches poll.

Tuskegee’s 21-19 victory in the final minute elevated it from 19th to 16th in the national rankings while previously-unbeaten Albany State dropped from eighth to 14th. But Tuskegee ranks ahead of Albany State in another race – the quest for the SIAC championship.

The three-time defending conference champion now finds itself in the driver’s seat for another title with only league games remaining against Lane and Stillman. Albany State has a key game this weekend against Morehouse, currently third in the SIAC, and finishes the regular season against Fort Valley.

The Albany State-Morehouse winner could represent the SIAC in the Division II playoffs. Tuskegee, on the other hand, could take another conference championship into its Thanksgiving Day battle with Alabama State in Montgomery.

Prairie View, the frontrunner to represent the Western Division in the SWAC title game, entered this week’s Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) rankings at No. 25.

The Panthers have won four straight, including wins over defending SWAC champ Grambling and Southern, and are off this week before returning to action Nov. 7 against Alabama A&M.

South Carolina State maintained its No. 10 national ranking following its 21-9 victory at Hampton.

Well. Not the RAM to be selfish, but here’s A Cheer for Lane getting their first Win of the season. No one in the SIAC should be Undefeated or Defeated. GO RAMS

WHEN the late Jim Martin was Coach in the mid-80’s the Turkey Day Classic was put on the back burner, because of the D-II playoff chances, and Alabama State did not want to do opposite home games so the gate receipts could be enjoyed by both schools,as they use to do with AU/UA in B’ham for the IRON BOWL. This was the only time all alum from ASU would come home. this is why they changed their homecoming date to be the TDC. So i think for SKEGEE to make more money for their school, they need to scrap the TDC and become playoff eligible. Tuskegee could not play on that thursday then 2 days later on saturday for the D-II playoffs.

What would it take to get a Prairie View vs SC State game after PV wins SWAC Championship game and SC State makes a run in the FCS playoffs?

Remember the old Heritage Bowl idea… SWAC Champ vs MEAC Champ??

Has anyone taken noticed of the Shaw University football team this season. Even though they gave away 2 games they were really an undebeated team, ( undebeated, no one beat them) they shot themselves in the foot and balls :-) . At Bowie; missed FG’s (3) during regulation. Inerrant snap over the punters head for safety plus gave FSU (broncos) numerous early Christmas presents. A baptist school with a christian mission, “It’s better to give than to receive”

Albany State needs a new Head Coach and a new offensive coordinator. They both suck!! Its shameful how disgusting ASU looked on ESPN. The alumni of ASU deserve so much better. I just wish more sports writers would call a spade a spade in this situation.
