I think it is appalling to suggest Dr. Brown fired Coach Bahhur because of the color of his skin. I read many of the posts on thisd subject in an earlier blog and could not believe all the "Brown-bashing." Dr. Brown was one of the first people I met at Savannah State, and he walked over to me and welcomed me to SSU. He made me feel like part of the SSU family. Every time I have seen he has been genuinely concerned about my well being and me as a person...even after he left SSU. Oh by the way, I am white.

Leo,

Thanks for putting this out there for HBCU football fans. It's also a place to give voice to finally call for the end of the meaningless SWAC Championship that's played in Birmingham every year. The game adds no value to the conference from a football perspective. If the game must be played then play it in a time frame that will allow the Champion to represent the conference in the "1-AA" play-off system. FINALLY all of the SWAC schools have realized that there's more money to be made by playing D-1 schools. The SWAC needs to stay connected with it's fan base, but it's time to elevate the status of the league as a legit football conference. Playing that meaningless game in B'ham does just the opposite, it only further isolates and lowers the quality of football played in the conference. Higher quality of play attacts higher quality players and coaches.

The Clark Atlanta administration has some serious explaining to do as to why this coach was fired. Improved graduation rates, last season the first winning team in 18 years, raising money to improve the facilities. Whats the problem? Most football coaches get a raise and a new contract when they achieve those kind of things. Sounds like his lawsuit has some teeth.
