Black College football news and notes

Tuskegee outlasted Clark Atlanta 31-21 Saturday in an SIAC matchup that featured big plays from both teams.

The Golden Tigers (3-1, 3-1 in SIAC) had a 70-yard pass and a 60-yard run among their four touchdowns while Clark Atlanta (3-1, 3-1) had scoring passes of 18 and 20 yards and a forced fumble that led to another touchdown in the loss. Both teams saw their starting QBs (Jeremy Williams of Tuskegee and Mark Wright of Clark Atlanta) leave the game with injuries, but both backups (Tuskegee’s Joshua Harris and Clark Atlanta’s T.J. Smith) were solid in reserve.

In the end, it was the 60-yard TD run from Tuskegee’s Tony Forney in the fourth quarter that helped the Golden Tigers win for the 13th time in the last 14 games of the series.

TSU falls to Southern, prepares for Atlanta Football Classic

Tennessee State lost a late fourth-quarter lead to Southern and fell 21-17 to the Jaguars in Baton Rouge.

With the loss, the Tigers fall to 1-2 heading into Saturday’s Atlanta Football Classic matchup with unbeaten Florida A&M at the Georgia Dome. The Rattlers improved to 3-0 Thursday with their 48-10 thumping of Howard.

Does anyone have a coach they could let Howard “borrow” for the rest of the season? The Bison are an embarrassment to their alums. They look great in their uniforms, but the stink on the field. I’m scared this season will be worse than last year’s shamefulness.

Hey Clark Atlanta Fan…. How could yall have great fans on both sides when you only have a onesided stadium…. as much as yall charge for tuition yall should be able to build the other side… and maybe get some grass…. Oct 17… a real football team will come into panthers stadium(practice field) and show yall how to play… GO Albany State Golden Rams!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I agree with BisonMan. I watched Howard on last Thursday and it had to be the worse display of defense and special teams that I’ve seen in a loooooong time.

Anyway, that’s why it feels great to support my Golden Rams. Regardless of conference or division affiliation the ASU Rams will make some noise this year. If we stay healthy, ASU should go deep in the playoffs. Hoperfully, it will help to bring more credibility to the quality of Black College football.
