Atlanta Hawks: Danny Ferry fined $15,000 by NBA

Vivlamore reporting.

Hawks general manager Danny Ferry was fined $15,000 by the NBA Monday for ‘inappropriate interaction’ with the game officials following Saturday’s loss to the Celtics.

The league did not reveal the reason for the penalty.

According to a person familiar with the situation, Ferry handed game officials a DVD following the 89-81 loss at Philips Arena.

As reported on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s web site following the game, Celtics guard Rajon Rondo made contact with game official Rodney Mott after being called for a charge with 3:19 remaining in the third quarter. Video of the incident was also detailed on NBA TV. Rondo lowered his shoulder while driving to the basket and collided with Hawks forward Josh Smith.

Rondo was not ejected for making contact with Mott. However, the league suspended Rondo for one game Monday for the incident and for a failure to cooperate with the league investigation. He will not play in Monday’s game against the Knicks.

It’s not the first time Rondo has made contact with an official in Atlanta. He was suspended for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals last season between the Hawks and Celtics. Rondo chest bumped referee Marc Davis with 41 seconds remaining in a Game 1 loss, earning a second technical foul and an ejection.

good sound points rod on the subject and on d12. i said it in terms of speculation and what to expect of the guy if you pay him max. can he deliver on it or becomes more an elton brand done after his first contract? dont know the extent of injury but if surgery for a torn labrum as it was reported then he is done this year and it is a huge dilemma as to sound or not. so far his back has limited as the old young d12. what would he be next year the old old d12!

was more thinking in terms of chipper

remember all his foot issues in his mid thirties and that he never made it through a season without injury the last eight years it seems? good player, great hitter.

i am not naive on the subject of roids as they were available and offered to me in the summer of 69 to bulk up for baseball by a kid from another program. they have been around a long time.

Minnesota Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman is currently away from the team due to personal reasons and may miss tonight’s home game against the Atlanta Hawks. From the team’s PR Twitter account: CBSSports.com

If Memphis can get cap relief, a pick or two, and a solid role player like Jared Dudley, then that’s a good return for Rudy G.

“My” Atlanta offer would have looked something like Harris, Korver, Tolliver, and Houston’s pick for Rudy & Tony Wroten.

I’m glad we are catching the Timberwolves short-handed. After losing 3 of 4, I am hoping the Hawks will put together a little win streak.

So I guess we get to see Derrick Williams play tonight. Especially with Adelman likely missing the game. Stat stuffer vs. stat stuffer with Kirilenko battling Josh. I’m looking forward to an entertaining game. Time to break out the super-deluxe sized popcorn bowl.

YAY for DF …. seems like everything he does is done w/ a purpose. Having DF as our GM …. after Rick Sund ….. is like having Filet Mignon after bologna. Sorry, about that food analogy …. sitting here waiting on my lunch !

Read Zachs 10 things I like and dont like #9 in particular
I think everyone agrees on this besides that one ajc hawks blogger, what was the handle??…#2 not a bust? something like that

Tonights game has a huge impact on our Hawks(imo)
-If we lose, we may need to think about some trades and going ahead and start making moves
-If we win, we should stay the course, only trade if it makes sense and play the year out

Rev,

Look for LD to come out and say the Hawks have a tendency to let their guards down when an opponent is missing key players, so he would prefer if Minny had all their players available.

MsDee,

C-Viv has spoiled us, so I can’t help but wonder where is the second blog
