Hawks go for five consecutive wins tonight against Clippers without Harris
The Hawks (7-4) will go for their fifth consecutive win in tonight’s game against the Clippers (8-4) at Philips Arena. Los Angeles will be trying to avoid its third consecutive loss.
The Hawks will be without Devin Harris, who is dealing with an injured left big toe. Harris’ status is day to day. In addition, coach Larry Drew said they are monitoring DeShawn Stevenson, as they normally do when playing the second of back-to-back games.
Coach Larry Drew said the keys for the Hawks will be to:
- Match their physicality;
- Defend the pick and roll, particularly the “hard rolls” of DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin, which lead to momentum-changing dunks;
- Don’t “be seduced” by jump shots. He wants them to push the ball, as they have done during the winning streak.

Chris Paul 15.5 ppg
The Clippers defeated the Hawks 89-76 in their only other meeting earlier this year, but the Hawks have won three consecutive games against L.A. at Philips.

Here’s the thing, this team needs to put four good quarters together. In the games that they’ve lost so far, it was mostly because they’d follow up ten minutes of good play with five minutes of stupid. You can’t beat good teams playing stupid. Speaking of, if the shot clock is dwindling and Smoove is 18-20 ft from the basket, he’s either in the wrong place or the scheme is WRONG. Josh Smith taking a long jump shot at the end of the shot clock is not the option that you want. You got jump shooters. I would rather one of them take the shoot with a hand in his face, or two hands in their faces, than Smoove taking a long range shot wide open…

If the Hawks box out and limit turnovers (they committed 22 turnovers in the previous loss to the Clippers) they should be OK. They may have to play the starters extended minutes to win this one, though, because the Clippers’ second unit has a clear advantage over the Hawks’ bench. LD can’t f-ck around with Teague’s minutes in this one if he wants to win.

As bad as the Hawks played for most of that quarter, they should feel pretty good about only being down 3. Teague and Josh made almost no impact. Good minutes from Morrow and Ivan.

Im sooooo proud of our team. Last years team would have folded last night and would have been blown out of at least 5 games this year. For the 1st time in a very,very long time,we have shooters!!! And with the way JT0 has been playing,(unlike any time he has been here) we are going back to the playoffs and will be looked at as a dangerous team this year.
