The Hawks ended a four-game road swing out West with a 112-96 win over the Kings – Atlanta’s ninth consecutive win against the Kings.
Kyle Korver scored 22 points, reserve Lou Williams had 21 and the Hawks beat Sacramento 112-96 on Friday night for their ninth consecutive win against the Kings.
Atlanta shot 55 percent, including an 8-for-15 performance from beyond the arc, while recording a season-high point total. The Hawks outrebounded the Kings 42-37 and had 24 assists.
“We can be a real up-and-down team, we know that,” Atlanta coach Larry Drew said. “We preach moving the basketball. We emphasize sharing the basketball and we did a really good job of that. Guys were finding each other all over the place and when we play like that we’re a fun team to watch.”

The Good
Good ball movement looked real crisp and Kyle Korver is starting to make a believer out of Hawk fans. He only missed 2 shots, (one very easy layup), went 5-5 on 3 pt shots, and even had a two hand dunk! Horford was more assertive as he had more shots than Smith and finished with 20-10. In only 19 minutes, Teague took 10 shots – missing only 3 and finished with 15 points. Josh took a lot of shots in the paint, and some just rolled out, but overall had a real good game. Lou looked very assertive and his shot was butter. The best of the best, ANTHONY TOLLIVER WAS A DNP!!!
The Bad
The defense was very suspect as the Kings outscored the Hawks 34-24 in the second quarter. The Kings just out hustled the Hawks and Aaron Brooks went on a 3 pt barrage. John Salmons looked like he did with the Bucks as he hurt the Hawks inside and outside. Devin Harris in 13 minutes missed both shots, had a turnover, and it looked like streetball at the highest degree.
The Ugly
Jeff Teague scored 13 of the Hawks first 25 points. Kyle Korver added 6. The first two subs, you guessed it Lou and Harris for Teague and Korver. Teague does not return until 5:43 left in the second and his last bucket of the night comes as a buzzer beater to end the half. Although leading the team in scoring at halftime, Teague plays the first 4:25 of the third quarter and does not see the court again. The treatment of Jeff Teague is regrettably the worst travesty of all players.

It is always fun to go back and read game time posts after a win. One would have thought the Hawks were down by 20 all game long and then figured out how to overcome that deficit with around 30 seconds left in the game.

The HAWKS won last night and that was a good thing. The “Smoove”, was 9-17 and that is a bad thing, he shot over 50% and will be launching from the moon now. Yes, he had a decent game, one that most fans would like to see on a regular basis minus the outside shots. Al was a lil beasty and I hope that continues.
JT is playing with more confidence and seemingly beginning to take control.
Kyle Korver is happy and this could poissibly be the best basketball hes played in his career, the upside looks good for him with the confidence expanding every game. IVAN is going to be a factor in the HAWKS future and Lou is here to stay. Orlando is coming up and if the HAWKS can tighten up on the defense and the “Smoove”can control that dumb stuff then the HAWKS will really be a fun group to watch.

Teague scored very well and I thought he should have gotten some run in the 4th quarter. But, 5 TOs in less than 20 minutes from your PG is more than a little alarming. Yes, Josh also had 5 TOs, but in twice as many minutes. And LD likely has little confidence that Josh can be taught anything at this point in his NBA career, while there may still be a chance to teach Teague how to get closer to his full potential.
Lou played most of the 2nd half at PG and didn’t commit a single TO.
Only thing an NBA head coach has to use as leverage is playing time. How else would you address a TO every 4 minutes from your PG?

Most of the TO’s came on Teague making the right pass and players fumbling the balls.
Not a fan of LD is ruining this kid mentally. Teague does so much more good than bad for this team.
No reason he should be averaging 27.5 MPG. It’s not enough. Devin Harris and Deshawn Stevenson should not see the floor.

Somebody needs to explain to explain why the poor treatment of HT continues to go on. The turnover have nothing to do with benching him. He hasn’t. Had many TO this season. I can see why the way he is treated can certainly affect his game. It seems that LD doesn’t want him to a scoring pg. iIt seems thatLd doesn’t want him on this team & he only plays him because he has to. AJ – the TO stat is almost as stupid as interceptions. Sometimes receivers fumble perfectly good passes, but the QB is at fault. I am sure at least 3 TO’s were from other people (at least 2 from ZaZa). That was the second straight 4th quarter our starting PG did not play.

Ex-basketball star Chamique Holdsclaw released from jail
By Joel Provano
Former basketball star Chamique Holdsclaw was released from jail Friday night after being arrested for a dispute with a woman that allegedly turned violent, Channel 2 Action News reported.
In a 911 call about the incident released by Atlanta police Friday, the unidentified caller said Holdsclaw tried to destroy her friend’s Range Rover. “She’s been threatening me and my best friend, and I don’t know why,” the caller told the dispatcher. Fulton County Magistrate Judge Roy Roberts set Holdsclaw’s bond at $100,000 at a first appearance hearing Friday morning at the Fulton County jail. Roberts ordered Holdsclaw to wear an ankle monitor as a condition of bail.
Holdsclaw, 35, of Smyrna, surrendered to police Thursday and was booked into the Fulton County jail shortly before 9 p.m., according to jail records. She was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of criminal damage to property and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Jennifer Lacy, 29, who described herself as Holdsclaw’s former girlfriend, told police she was working out at a church on Ponce de Leon Avenue on Tuesday when Holdsclaw approached her and said she wanted to put some items in Lacy’s car.
According to an incident report obtained by Channel 2 Action News, as Lacy drove from the church she smelled gasoline inside her vehicle and noticed that Holdsclaw was following her.
Lacy said she drove to a friend’s house on Hemphill Avenue, at which time Holdsclaw got out of her car with a baseball bat and began smashing the windows in Lacy’s Range Rover, the report said.
After breaking the driver’s side window, a rear passenger’s window and the rear window, Holdsclaw produced a handgun, fired inside the SUV and fled the scene, the report said.
Police said they later recovered a 9mm shell casing at the scene. Lacy was not injured, police said.
Holdsclaw played 12 seasons in the WNBA, including one year with the Atlanta Dream, in 2009. Lacy plays for the Tulsa Shock of the WNBA and played for the Dream in 2008 and 2009.
Holdsclaw was the No. 1 selection in the 1999 draft after a four-year career at Tennessee, where she led the Lady Vols to three consecutive national championships. She last played for the San Antonio Silver Stars, in 2010.
In her autobiography, “Breaking Through: Beating The Odds Shot After Shot,” Holdsclaw describes her childhood in the housing projects of Queens, N.Y., and her battle with depression early in her professional career.
She currently serves as a spokeswoman for Active Minds, an organization “dedicated to empowering students to speak openly about mental health in order to educate others and increase help seeking,” according to the group’s website.

The debate concerning Jeff Teague’s playing time should be a non issue at this point in his career. Drew has shown he is incapable of correctly managing the playing time of the Hawks. He also has hasn’t defined the roles of non starters adequately. I do believe if he doesn’t figure it out soon he’ll be out at the end of the season or sooner. Drew is in an audition season for Ferry and it’s not looking too good at this time.

When you think about it probably the same reason T-mac didn’t get along with the guy, and also it takes LD too long to realize that hey I got 9-5 Ivan Johnson on my bench for some damn toughness man C’MON MAN.

Melvin, I saw the first half and about the last 18 minutes of the second half. Which is why I said that he played well in the first half. Again, I ask, how should a head coach address a TO every 4 minutes from his PG?
ag, I understand that completely. Still, Lou managed to commmit not a single TO during his stint as PG in the 2nd half.
Melvin, back to you, I find it fairly easy to defend any head coach after a victory. That is the objective, win the game that you are playing. When I flipped back to the game in the 3rd quarter, I didn’t understand why Teague wasn’t playing. I figured I had missed a twisted ankle or something. When I saw the stats this morning, I figured the excessive TOs had something to do with it.
Y’all always talk about player development but when it comes in the form of a player being told to sit, then folk have an issue. Isn’t that accountability?

Yea, it’s clear that Woody Jr. doesn’t want to play Teague. He feels forced to start him, because he probably is being forced to start him, but looks for every possible excuse to bench him. Which leads JT to always be playing looking over his shoulder.
Beyond JT, Woody Jr made one substitution in the 4th quarter outside of the final minutes where the game was in hand where he finally lets Jenkins play a little. That’s pathetic. Yes, the Hawks won, over a terrible team. Winning this game does not excuse Woody Jr from his pathetic rotations and evidently personally motivated benchings of players that he doesn’t like.

AJ,
Only thing an NBA head coach has to use as leverage is playing time. How else would you address a TO every 4 minutes from your PG?.
So do you disregard the fact that your PG is also shooting 70% from the field?
We all can agree that LD hardly limits minutes for Josh, Al, Jamal (almost any other player) when they are playing terribly (and we have seen all those guys with 5+ turnovers). And although Teague had all those turnovers, he was your leading scorer, and it’s not like he was having a terrible game. He is still learning how to be aggressive and take care of the ball, and get others involved.
Plus if you look at the turnovers, I think they were mostly from him driving trying to get off a shot (ball slapped away), or trying to force the issue on the break (turnovers which you have said is not as bad if its from trying to play fast).
If Teague is your starting PG, I don’t see why LD can’t give him more minutes to see if he will play through it.

LD inserted Lou and he did a tremendous job running the point in the second half. Al got his touches, Josh got his touches, Korver stayed hot, the offense was cooking, TOs were low, the team won on the road comfortably… but LD gets the heat for not playing Teague after 5 TOs in 19 minutes. SMDH.

It is hard for a young guy to be consistent and learn when the coach hates him. Drew is constantly telling one thing and showing the other thing. He says he want Teague to attack, but when Teague does great at attacking he is the first one to be benched and comes out with a pass first type of play. Tell me why that is? Drew is mentally telling Teague that he wants him to change. Just about every game this season was that way. You can’t learn if the teacher “coach” is horrible and has no clue what he is doing.

Do you say that it is incorrect not to play Teague? So do I. Please read my post of 1:03 pm…
The point I was stressing was that one should not overrate (as well as underrate) any players contribution. E.g., it was Teague’s responsibility that at the end of the second quarter Brook hit several 3-pointers which resulted in Hawks loosing their lead. Therefore, I think it was a right decision (also taking into account 5 TO’s) to bench Teague at that moment. However, I repeat, he should definitely play in the second half.

When I was taking about benching early was about him getting benched in the first. He only have 1 turnover, 6-7 shooting, 13 points. Every time Drew takes out Teague early in the first he almost always changes the way he plays. Also, not all the turnovers when he was brought back in were his fault. Do you think Brooks would not have made those 3s if someone else was guarding him? When someone is fast and shooting hot it is hard to stop them. If I am correct the thing that stopped Brooks was his Technical.
We are looking at to different pictures here, I am looking at the start of the game and you are looking at the 2nd half and on. But Like I said, the biggest problem with Teague’s inconsistency is Drew playing games with him. And Yes, Teague should have seen time in the 2nd half, would have been a good idea to try a Teague/Williams back court the 2nd half.

When you say he would make it with someone else defending him… well, I would expect Teague to play high level D everytime he is on the floor. I wish him having great future and was very disappointed on his D at the end of second quarter.
LD’s substitution patters were discussed and are being discussed all the time here and I think this does not concern only Teague. And yes, I cosign with you on your 2:36 post.

The hawks do well against teams with weak centers or powerforwards masquerading as centers. Wins like this is a yarn for me. How boring. so you can beat another team that is weak at center. Gee….great.
Do that consistently against teams that have a center while leaving Josh at powerforward and get a real center to handle the post and I will be more excited.
This really is more of the Same old Bul l crap.

JT played well early, and in the 3rd quarter made a few mistakes. He was sat in favor of Lou this ended up being the right choice by Ld we won. In the future if this circumstance came up again and Lou did not work out then I believe Ld will make the adjustment with JT. I am not trying to defend anyone but his subs. paid off. We saw more Ivan and less Tolliver, Harris was ineffective so he sat. I thought this was the right move in hind sight, they even showed JT on the bench on TV. Now will this mess with JT psyche mabe but he is a pro, he got paid either way. I like Jt and hope him and Lou could play on the court togeather.

Teague missing the 4th quarter wasn’t a huge deal, because Lou was playing well. Teague getting pulled 8 minutes into the game when he was carrying the offense was idiotic. He should have played the entire first quarter.

Put it this way — in the middle of the 4th quarter, when LD called a timeout as Sacramento made a little run, he came back out of the timeout leaving Lou in the game. Why? Because Lou had the hot hand and was making plays for himself and others. That was fine. So why shouldn’t the same apply to Teague 8 minutes into the game when he has the hot hand?
I don’t know LD so I won’t go as far as to say he hates Teague or whatever, but he clearly treats certain players differently for whatever reason. His job is to win games, and playing his 3rd best player as many minutes as possible gives him the best chance to do so.

Rusty, LD is not a very good coach. At the same time, not every decision he makes is a bad decision. Not everu substitution is illogical and not every play call debateable. IMO, a TO every 4 minutes from your PG needs to be addressed m(immediately).
Regarding the Boston series, I am too old to remember the details of his coaching. It wouldn’t surprise me if he made some boneheaded decisions. At the same time, I never for a moment believed the Hawks were going to win that series.

The new CBA rules strongly discourage any player who wants and will get a 5 year deal from leaving the incumbent team. Not only are the raises with the new team smaller but the new team can only offer a 4 year contract. IMO, it is the player who needs to make sure that he does what is needed to get that 5 year deal from his current team… it is his one path to a 5-year and more lucrative deal.

Sameba, it means Josh wants to be here. He lives in L.A. in the offseason but he wants to play basketball and be successful in Atlanta. By getting rid of Joe’s contract, it clears the way for Josh to be the highest-paid player and centerpiece of the team. Instead of building around Joe, Danny Ferry decided to build around Josh. Josh likes that. If Kyler is correct, Smoove will be here for a long time. He doesn’t want to go out like Dominique.

Just like I said Teague saved LD’s azz last year. He raised his level of play at the point guard position and was one of the main reasons we got a number 4 seed last year.

Co-sign. And it would have been one thing if Tegaue was a rookie. But he started last year, and so far this year was playing reasonably well. Let him play.
I think the biggest issue was LD taking out Teague so early in the first half when he was on fire. Why not ride the hot hand?
Teague sat on the bench until <6 minutes were left in the second quarter. By then he was cold, and I would bet he was sulking. Maybe that contributed to his inability to stop Brooks. And although Teague had some breakdowns, the big run Sac made was not all on him. Plus part of it was Sac could not miss.

LD is not consistent when it comes to accountability. Josh is allowed to do what he wants and is never pulled. Horford was getting worked defensively by Thompson and he wasn’t pulled. So why was Teague pulled for 2 bad defensive assignments. And as much as I like Hordord dude hasn’t been that good defensively this year. When Lou was turning the ball over in Golden State and the offense was stagnant with him at point why wasn’t he pulled? It almost seems like Teague has to play perfect. Its no reason why this dude should be playing under 30 minutes a game. All players should be held accountable not just one.

Please talk about Jamal Crawford ballin’ with the Clippers – probably the early frontrunner for SMOY; Joe Johnson playin’ with the Nets, a team that is off to a 5-2 start; Woody and the [first place] Knicks who are off to a 6-1 start; Marvin Williams at Utah (I’ll let you fill in the blanks there); Kirk Hinrich starting for the Bulls at point guard while Derrick Rose is recovering from a torn ACL; Willie Green starting at shooting guard for the Clippers; and NBA veteran Radmanovic found a spot on the Bulls’ roster, etc.

high sider dont forget stack and chill in brooklyn, jc2 in dc, royal ivey where ever he is, shels still in the leaugue or law and twin in boston. nearly fell over when a broadcaster said twin got caught in the air on a fake to cause a foul. twin hadnt been in the air since ‘02.
h-s the only one doing better this year really is woody who has an unlimited payroll to work with and jc1. wo dy’s team lost composure and woody gave em a pass the other night saying they were wanting to keep their streak alive. i think that is going to come back to haunt him, really 6 games? that is nothing. that type of start is what has helped the hawks his last three years and ld’s first two, a great start to flounder a bit coming home. yup, they even lost their shine second half of the year in 53 wins. defense fell apart and he lost a signature type game against one of the best teams because kidd found him on the court to get another possession and a foul shot.
jc1 was great the first year, not so great the second. my take he may have worn out his welcome by the end of the second year at ten mil, trashing someone’s home as a renter, then wanted the same bucks without practicing or playing defense. he had a mediocre year last year. he is on a team perfect for him while quipping he learned how to work on his game this summer. he saw the hand writing on the wall either work or be out of the league. shame he didnt do it sooner when he was 10 mil a year. so what is there to say about him, he is the same mercurial jc1. love him or hate him and i did the former, but not dependable. if two guys are going at him then someone is open and he isnt finding him.
funny, so many of those guys “doing well” were whipping boys of the blog like hinrich. i wish we had stolen either him or andre miller several years ago instead of finding bibby at 18 mil a year to fill the void. killed us when it came time to find depth but got us into the second round to get embarrassed twice.
finally on woody vs ld? at a quarter of the price? who of the two has actually been able to say he has coached a team to a second round victory? they essentially had the same cast of characters. woody has shown a formula to get into the first round. now the question is can he find a formula or the coaching chops during a game to get to the ecf. if he doesnt he will have failed again.
let he season play out. 8 games into a season is a terrible marker, some early front runners are lottery by the end every year. those warts on those guys are not expunged in 8 games.

Melvin, I saw the first half and about the last 18 minutes of the second half. Which is why I said that he played well in the first half. Again, I ask, how should a head coach address a TO every 4 minutes from his PG?
Melvin, back to you, I find it fairly easy to defend any head coach after a victory. That is the objective, win the game that you are playing. When I flipped back to the game in the 3rd quarter, I didn’t understand why Teague wasn’t playing. I figured I had missed a twisted ankle or something. When I saw the stats this morning, I figured the excessive TOs had something to do with it.
Astro,
You just prove my point for me. You can’t look at the box scores than make accessment about what happen. You said you watched the entire 1st half and you admit that Teague played well but did you know Teague had 4 of his 5 turnovers in 1st half? My assumption why LD took Teague out in the 3rd qtr was b/c he took a jumpshot on one possession that LD probably thought was ill advised. Astro, you are puzzled just like the rest of us who watched the entire game as to why Teague didn’t play extended mins in the 2nd half. Well maybe that last statement is not totally true, many of us believe that LD doesn’t trust Teague and you say it player development. However, I attached the play by play link so you could review the 6mins of the game that you missed….

Melvin, LD takes Teague out around the 2:00-4:00 minute mark of the 1st quarter. Not based on his playing performance but because that is when he wants to give the guy a rest. He is fairly consistent, again, regardless of his level of performance. I think most coaches do that type of thing… have a pre-planned time when they will get starters out of the game for a rest.
I don’t get why some fans believe that a player is only subsituted in the first half because they are playing poorly, otherwise, they should play alll 24 minutes.

SI has another story about Lakers interest in trading Smith for Gasol. I think Gasol’s contract is too much and maybe Gasol is fading, but I hope Mr. Ferry is looking at how to get a 3rd team involved to see what we could get now for Smith. It looks like he had a better game shooting against the Kings (he has been bad), but I notice that he didn’t get to the free throw line a single time. How is that possible? I notice he had 5 turnovers, leading both teams and that he took 3 three-pointers. I admit I didn’t catch this game and he shot well and had some assists, but I hate Smith’s game so far this year from the games I have seen. There is no improvement in his mid-range game and no commitment to operating in the paint and taking the ball to the rim, where he is so, so talented. Let’s get some value for him now…

Astro Joe JT one of the youngest player in the starting lineup is the first to pulled out & the last to be put in regardless of how he is playing, don’t you think when he is playing well he should be left in. There is such a thing as riding a hot horse,he usually leaves him out so long that when he comes back its hard to pick up where you left off,not even considering what kind of crap he is ptelling him.it is pretty obvious to every one else but you who pretends that you are in la la land. How do you develope a young player without giving him big minutes especially a point guard.

Rusty,
Astro believes in player development in/during practice. I think its an indictment on the coaching staff especially when you prefer to play guys who was acquired by trade or FA signing over your own draftees year after year. LD prefers to play Lou who’s still trying to learn the offense over Teague who has been a part of this pentagon offense since it has been installed.

I agree that the best way to break this cycle of mediocrity is to trade Al Horford and Jeff Teague. any meaningful plan to change the direction of this team would have to begin with those two clowns.
Im so tired of seeing this same ol s hit and same ol lame excuses from these bozos. And Al is a coach killer. Your team is going now where with Al. Sells are down, fans interest is down, blogging is down, advertising is down. SMFH.

Melvin, Lou must be a fast learner because he looked dang good out there the other night, didn’t he? 20+ points and 0 TOs.
Rusty, even when CP3 was a younger PG and coached by Byron Scott, he was pulled from the game roughly around the same time, regardless of his individual performance. It also helps the bench player to know when he will get his first action when a head coach tries to maintain a regular “schedule”.

Rusty, I would play Teague more than 27 minutes/game. He got 33 last season and I would give him at least that much this season. Of course, if he rests for around 15 minutes game, that means he needs to rest around 7 minutes each half.. so he will still need to sit regardless of his performance at that time, right?
I think it is hard to get too hung up with averages after 10% of the season, though. The “Devin experiemnt” is likely finished… my guess is Teague will be “slotted” for 33+ minutes as long as he doesn’t make too many mistakes. And if he does, he doesn’t need to be rewarded with the same playing time as when he is playing well. It would be akin to giving a kid the same allowance rather he performs his chores as required or not.

AstroJoe There is such a thing as showing confidence in a young pg who you would want to get better with time. JT is at this time the best pg we have. Lou is not a pg,he is always looking to get a lot of shots, just like JC did, why would you want to take him out when he is playing good, the team seems to play very Well with him in the lineup,he plays good defense & doesn’t turn the ball over that much.you can’t tell me after 2 years that LD doesn’t treat him unfairly.

Astro,
Have you ever heard of in-game management? Most coaches make adjustment within the game depending the flow. If a guy has a hot hand, then you continue play him extended mins until he’s tire or his hot hand cools off. For Teague, his coach will cool his hot hand for him. Oh well, I will be glad when this clueless head coach be shown the door at the end of the season….

Rusty, so what happpened Friday night in Sacramento in the 2nd half? I actually agree, I wouldn’t play Lou more than token minutes at PG… but after Friday night I could be wrong.
I would pencil in the PG minutes like this: Teague 34; Devin 12 (to make sure he hassome trade value by February; Lou 2.
But game time situations can change that. I would NEVER guarantee any player 30+ minutes regardless of the game situation.

At the rate C-Viv puts new blogs up, rarely do we get up to 3 pages. The Hawks blogs remind me of when the congregation knows your pastor is not preaching – most decide to miss church that week.
When C-Viv said he was going on vacation, many of the bloggers did also. Then we get an AP story of the game – just pathetic!
One of the biggest mistakes Sund made (and he made a lot!) – is not hiring Avery Johnson – or another coach who had been a NBA head coach.
Joe Johnson continues to struggle for the Nets. Although he is averaging 36 minutes per game, he is averaging only 15.3 ppg/
Even worse, Kirk Hinrich in 25.3 minutes per game, is averaging 4.9 ppg 2.8 rbs and 5.9 ast.
Knowing this, why is Sund still on the Hawk payroll?

Ken S,
This is why despite Dwight’s back trouble last year, it was Bynum who was (and always will be) the most injury prone big man.
From espn.com;
“I have an issue with my knees,” Bynum said. “I’ve pretty much seen every specialist. … I have no idea [when I can return], I really don’t. I’m playing it day-to-day, which is probably the wrong thing to do in this situation. I’m waiting for the docs to kind of give me something, and they’re waiting for me to tell them my knees don’t hurt.”
Bynum said he didn’t do anything abnormal when he apparently tore off some cartilage and bruised a bone in his left knee while bowling..
He has been out for a while, and for the money he will want in free agency , I think he is too big a risk.

If the Hawks would have signed Blatche, they could have used the big line up and started him or ZaZa at the 5. I would’ve preferred Blatche over ZaZa in the starting lineup b/c Blatche is a better post player on offense. But oh no, we have borderline talent Tolliver who does not have a true position on the court. Too small for PF and not skilled enough to play SF.

vava, IMO, Blatche would have meant more minutes at SF for Josh. I don’t really see that same dynamic with Tolliver. And again, the team’s 5th big man shouldn’t really be that important to a team’s fortunes… especially since the first 4 bigs have been mostly healthy.
I won’t rain on Blatche’s parade… here’s hoping that he continues to enjoy one great performance in every 8 games.

After the first eight games, I think most of us would have been happy with a 8-8 start. We knew we had tough games against Miami, OKC, LAC and Portland. I tend to agree with the people who say Blatche wouldn’t have been as good on this team. We sometimes tend to look at Josh as some sort of head case/loose cannon because he occasionally takes bad shots, even though ultimately he wants to win and positively impacts the game in a variety of ways. Blatche’s career track record is that of a far worse kind of head case — the kind who is lazy, doesn’t work to improve his game, and doesn’t impact the game in other ways nearly enough to justify the bad shots he takes. If LD can’t get Josh to improve his shot selection, can he be trusted to improve Blatche’s work ethic, attitude, AND shot selection? I doubt it.
Neither Tolliver nor Blatche is the right choice. I’d rather have Damion James than both.
