Vivlamore reporting from Oakland.
Al Horford, Josh Smith and Jeff Teague are the Hawks representatives on the NBA All-Star ballot the league released Tuesday.
Horford and Smith are 36 front-court nominees in the Eastern Conference. Horford is a two-time All-Star as a center but the league changed the process this year to group all centers and forwards together. Teague is one of 24 nominees at guard in the East. In all, 120 players both both conferences are represented on the ballot.
Balloting will be held until Jan. 14. Fans can vote in a variety of ways on a daily basis, including social media sites. This year’s All-Star game will be held in Houston on Feb. 17.

Well,, Woody is in the lead to coach the All-Star game. So if Teague makes the roster, he won’t play.
Seriously, Irving, Jennings and Holiday are more likely (IMO) to make the game in February (behing Deron & Rondo) than Teague.

Korver/Morrow/Stevenson>>> JJ/Marvin
I dont miss marvin at all If our idiot coach would give Ivan and morrow more minutes we would be better off. I just glad i dnt hv to see this guy anymore.

Wait a sec…..I forgot about Rondo DWill and Kyrie…Jeff Teague doesnt have a snow balls chance in haities. Jos smith is still doing the same garbage as previous seasons. Dude just shut up and play -the cryn and whining makes you look stupid coaches wont vote him in for the same reasons as seasons past.
Just curious how many of us would do a Horford/1st/filler for Aldridge

Right now, Anderson Varejao of the Cavs would probably be selected to the 2013 All-Star Team before Josh Smith and Al Horford.
Anderson Varejao – 15.9ppg, 13.7rpg, 3.4apg, 60.8%FG%, N/A3PFG% and 71.4%FT%

maybe it is not the coach. maybe this team is just flawd.
the same things were said about Woody when he was a Hawk. now he maybe coach of the year. if we get a real center and a real point gaurd ( I do feel Teague could be the point we need, I just want him to play like every game) then maybe we would be a real team.

The NBA: Where Politics Happens!
[I believe] Lou Williams was last season’s SMOY runner-up and led the Sixers in scoring [last season] at 14.9ppg but, yet, didn’t start a single game. And he’s [Lou Williams] left off the 2013 Eastern Conference All-Star ballot but Raymond Felton, Jose Calderon, Gerald Henderson, Kirk Hinrich, Brandon Knight, Rodney Stuckey and John Wall are on the 2013 All-Star ballot?!?!?!?!? This is ludicrous!!!!
The Wizards and Pistons currently have win-loss records of 0-6 and 0-8, respectively. These two teams should have NO players on the 2013 Eastern Conference All-Star ballot until they WIN a game [at the very least]. The NBA just keeps getting it WRONG!!!!!! [SMH]

Woody put defense before offense, so you have to say he’s a better coach just on principle alone. The same way in my mind, Thibodeau is a better coach than D’antoni. The only problem is, Woody nor LD is the coach to lead your team deep in the playoffs.

Nate Robinson scored 45 in a game. But even he shouldn’t get major minutes in every game. If the choice is between Morrow and Korver over the most minutes, I choose Korver every time. If the choice is between Morrow and Lou when Devin is healthy, I choose Lou every time. In fact, I choose Jenkins over Morrow also, because he’s just as good of a shooter with more upside. So realistically, Morrow is the FOURTH best SG on the team.

The Hawks are poised to have a nice little 6 – 7 game winning streak, and show themselves as a team that can compete.
Have to get Petro to anchor the low post, and take off. (at least on defense)
I would to see Jenkins get some time on the floor, and not just in blowouts.

Why ?
would we take on TPrince’ $6m+ for 3yrs ?
Just to get Monroe;
only one inch taller than Horf, one inch longer standing reach,
6 in ches less vert leap = 5 inches less max vertical.
*note – the one inch hgt is true hgt sock feet.
Monroe has avged less rebs per game than Al career.
Monroe is not a rim protector, less than one per.

Just like it took an injury to KHinrich for LDrew to finally overcome his VETERAN PREFERENCE BIAS and let Teague do his thing, the injury to DHarris just might do the same for AMorrow. We can only hope. Now if we could somehow get Drew to take the same approach with IJohnson over ATolliver, without the injury concerns of course.
This team has put to rest any concerns about it’s ability to defend. The only thing that’s stood in the way of us being 5-1 instead of 3-3, has been Drew’s unwillingness to play certain players that have demonstrated a hot hand(AMorrow), or the ability to provide exactly what we need most(IJohnson). He’s also yet to define the roles of most of our players.
Our biggest setback to date has been excessive TOs and untimely scoring droughts, and we have far too many scorers and scoring options, if used and used properly, to have so doggone many scoring droughts.

“Woody put defense before offense, so you have to say he’s a better coach just on principle alone…” -Ra’mon @3:21pm dated 11/14/2012
The following is what makes Woody a better coach than LD (imo):
2009 – 2010 Atlanta Hawks:
Win-loss record: 53-29 (Finished 3rd in the Eastern Conference)
Joe Johnson: 21.3ppg, 4.6rpg, 4.9apg
Jamal Crawford: 18.0ppg, 3.0apg, 2.5apg
Josh Smith: 15.7ppg, 8.7rpg, 4.2apg, (0-of-7 from 3pt. range)
2010 – 2011 Atlanta Hawks:
Win-loss record: 44-38 (Finished 5th in the Eastern Conference)
Joe Johnson: 18.2ppg, 4.0rpg, 4.7apg
Josh Smith: 16.5ppg, 8.5rpg, 3.3apg, 51-of-154 from 3pt. range (33.1%)*; 3pt.FG% was an anomaly
Jamal Crawford: 14.2ppg, 1.7rpg, 3.2apg
Josh Smith’s FG%’s from 2009 – 2012
2009 – 2010: 50.5%
2010 – 2011: 47.7%
2011 – 2012: 45.8%
The team’s best two scorers (Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford) watch their points per game averages decline while Josh Smith takes his “game” further and further away from the basket.
