Hawks coach Larry Drew would not comment on the Lakers’ firing of Mike Brown just five games into the season.
“If you wouldn’t mind, I would rather not comment on that,” Drew said before the game.
Drew is in the final year of his contract. Hawks general manager Danny Ferry’s tenure with the Cavaliers ended when he resigned a month before his contract was to expire and two weeks after owner Dan Gilbert fired Brown at the end of the 2010 season. At the time, both Ferry and Gilbert called it a “mutual” parting. The main issue was reportedly Ferry’s disagreement with the release of Brown.
On the status of Drew, Ferry told the AJC last month: “We have had a productive and positive relationship so far and I respect his preparation and approach to camp and this season.”
