Updated: Hawks in talks about Korver

Vivlamore filling in for MC.

The Hawks are in “serious discussions” with the Bulls to acquire guard Kyle Korver, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. While talks continue, no deal has been completed.

The Chicago Tribune reported that a deal is done, via the Timberwolves, pending Korver passing a physical. However, the person familar with the situation said the talks have not progressed to that point.

The Bulls had to either guarantee Korver’s $5 million option for the 2012-13 season or waive him and pay $500,000 by Sunday.

In 65 games for the Bulls last season, Korver averaged 8.1 points in 22.6 minutes per game. Kover, 31, was a second-round pick (No. 51) by the Nets in the 2003 draft. He was traded to the 76ers, where he spent his first four-plus seasons. He also played for Jazz before playing the past two seasons with the Bulls.

I am ok with this signing. I am sure he is a bench player and not a starter. We should be still looking for Small forwards.

Sounds like we’re using the trade exception, and the T-Wolves are involved somehow. Hard to judge without all the details.

The White kid from Northwestern can shoot! He prolly wont make the team though! He reminds me of Novak from NY. I like what I see so far from John Jenkins. I think Ferry is trying to build this team like the SA Spurs. Quick guards, spot up shooter. DHoward would be crazy not to want to play in his home town with an exciting team that Ferry is building.

Hawks have been saying they want Scott to play at the 4, not the 3. Assuming that’s true, acquiring Korver won’t impact his roster spot.

I like Korver but just how many guards do we need on the roster? Im sure he intended to some of the newly acquired guards for trade bait or something but what’s the deal? Please someone enlighten me.

Wow Alot of shooters. Im starting to belive that the big trade will happen around the trade dedline with all the expiring contracts. I believe my favorvite clevland cavaler of all time will bring a allstar max contrac center and a allstar point gaurd. Ferry has put us in a great opertunity come trade deline for a team wanting to make a trade to start over. So lets start thinking? Can you immagine if the clippers have a bad start? The Knicks? what other teams can you all think of that will bring us two studs that would want to start over?More and More I think of we will do a 3 team Trade. The one i like Chris Paul and the center from New York Chandler.

Paul
Morrow
Josh Smith
Horford
Chandler

We have the tools to build around Josh Smith and Horford forget Howards baby drama

That Kyle Korver trade is crap. Save that 2nd round draft pick and give me Shurma or Carter from the summer league team.

Hawks, Ferry [are] loading up on non-defending, perimeter shooters, scorers [e.g., Jenkins, Morrow, Lou Williams, Korver, etc]. But yet some of you [bloggers] keep hating on Jamal Crawford. Looks like the Hawks are stockpiling versions of Jamal Crawford [e.g. Jamal Crawford 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3...2.8, etc.] But since GM “Danny boy” [Ferry] is making all the player “moves”/decisions, “mum’s the word” because to question and criticize the “GM god” [Ferry] is considered “irreverent” and/or “blasphemous” and shall not be tolerated [on this blog]. The Korver deal is about sending him somewhere else. The Hawks are getting ready to put together a package and make a deal soon. There are too many shooting guards on this roster and they will be packaged and dealt. If the Hawks get Howard and keep Josh, it will be better to have Harris, Jenkins, Josh, Howard, Richardson or Turkulu as their starting lineup. They will have to acccept Richardson’s contract as well as Turk or Duhun. The Magic is trying to unload contracts. They could then turn around and amnisty Richardson or Turk.

Guys

I think this is a move to help facilitate the Dwight Howard trade. ESPN is reporting that trade talks for the three team trade between Houston, LA and the Magic have cooled and that the trade talks between the Hawks and Magic are picking up steam again. I think Ferry is getting some of these players to use in a trade to the Magic in my honest opinion.

They need to let Jenkins handle the ball a little more instead of coming off those weak azz screens.

A few guys have been impressive so far. Benson has been solid, Jenkins can really shoot, and Wannamaker looks a lot better than he did in the preseason last year. I dont know who #11 is but I like what I saw out of him in the first half.

We still need a sf. We have a lot of shooters but not many defenders. I hope more moves will be made. We really need a wing defender.

Let’s at least see what Ferry’s trying to build before we start criticizing him. A number of people think he’s stockpiling for a trade.

Also, JC was supposed to be a move to push us to the next level. Ferry’s not worried about getting to the next level right now. He’s worried about building for the future while trying to field a competitive team now.

We can criticize Sund, BK and their moves because we know what they were trying to do and how they worked out. For what Ferry’s doing, we may not know exactly how these moves are going to work out until a few years from now.

Sounds like you’re the one who likes hatin’.

GT, thanks that makes a bit of sense. I assume they’d love to move Stevenson elsewhere and possibly Harris if they dont just let his contract run out and move on after this year. Then there is the Farmar buyout we’ve all heard about. This has certainly been an eventful offseason thus far, interested to see where we end up.
