Updated: Hawks in talks about Korver

Vivlamore filling in for MC.

The Hawks are in “serious discussions” with the Bulls to acquire guard Kyle Korver, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. While talks continue, no deal has been completed.

The Chicago Tribune reported that a deal is done, via the Timberwolves, pending Korver passing a physical. However, the person familar with the situation said the talks have not progressed to that point.

The Bulls had to either guarantee Korver’s $5 million option for the 2012-13 season or waive him and pay $500,000 by Sunday.

In 65 games for the Bulls last season, Korver averaged 8.1 points in 22.6 minutes per game. Kover, 31, was a second-round pick (No. 51) by the Nets in the 2003 draft. He was traded to the 76ers, where he spent his first four-plus seasons. He also played for Jazz before playing the past two seasons with the Bulls.

Wroten a true Summer Leage All-Star. You do realize in an NBA regulation game, they will just foul him in the fourth quarter. His shot is so broke he can’t even shoot free throws.

The Denver Nuggets have expressed interest in free agent Anthony Randolph. He’s here in Las Vegas sitting with Masai Ujiri and George Karl.

I gotta ask, how much is the new JJ gonna get paid to give up the jersey if D12 makes his way to the ATL? Will D12 whine and moan because he can’t have 12?

There about 4 teams in the nba with a legit chance to challenge for a title. Atl is not one of those teams. these meaningless trades do nothing–they will make the playoffs and go out in round 1, as usual. chump fans keep buying tickets at obscene prices thinking the team will be good.

Greg Oden, if healthy, could very well be the steal of the offseason, outside of Brandon Roy. We should be able to get Oden Cheaper though…

Why would Portland trade Ray Felton and Kurt Thomas to the Knicks for Jefferies and Gadzuric??? Knicks shouldn’t have any picks to offer. Knicks and Nets (just signed CJ Watson for minimum) are putting together some nice, expensive rosters.

When does Anthony Randolph figure he’ll play if he goes to Denver? Mozgov, McGee, Faried, Harrington. If he comes here he’s instantly the 3rd best big SKILL wise and can play 3-5 at anytime. I think he’ll come here.

Kupchak said he continues attempts to re-sign backup forward Jordan Hill and expects talks on a contract extension for center Andrew Bynum to intensify “sooner rather than later.” Assuming Bynum is still a member of the Lakers, that is.

I am like most of you Hawks fans on this blog, I would love to see the Hawks be able to trade for D12 as long as he agrees to sign an extension. My big concern is how his attitude/drama would affect the chemistry on the team. With all of the trades and new players that are going to make up the 2012-13 Hawks, team chemistry is a big question for the Hawks coaches, Hawks organization, and Hawk fans. As all of us know, the way a team works together, gets along with each other, and sacrifices for each other are huge questions for that have to be answered. There is no doubt that D12 is very gifted and has a ton of talent. I just question him putting the team before himself and putting his heart into winning a championship in Atlanta. I only want players that bleed Hawks Blood when we take the floor to begin the 2012-13 season.

Danny Ferry has been a great hire for the Hawks! I’m sure he has the same concerns that I have. He probably has at least two more trades to make before he is ready for his first season with the Hawks. With a couple more right moves, this is going to be a fun team to cheer for. The real fun will begin when we have the players to make a serious run at the title!

From what, I’ve read, he’s just not happy about being traded from Chicago. I don’t think he’s crapping on ATL, he just really likes Chicago, and sharing a lockerroom w/ Derrick Rose. When these guys have a wife and/or kids and they get traded, I think it’s just as rough on them as it is for anyone else who has to move their family, or move away from their family. You’d think being a multimillionaire would help though, but maybe millionaires need love too.

@EmirS:

LOL, same here. I’ve been going straight to this blog hoping for a new entry from CViv while MC is out—but failing that, I keep refreshing this Korver one, hoping someone’s heard something new.

ESPN’s a little frustrating (what’s new) with their total disregard of all things Atlanta. Everything we do, it’s not “Hawks unload aging overpaid veterans to gullible Nets/Jazz,” it’s “DWill and JJ will join D12 to make the new Big 3!” Sheesh…nothing at all from our perspective.

I didn’t even see any analysis from ESPN of how Lou Williams was going to help us (or hurt us, if you’re a hater). We just don’t exist to those guys—hope the Hawks (and Falcons, for that matter) can bust down the door this year and make them pay attention.

This has been by far the most interesting offseason we’ve had in a long time. I was even checking MC’s twitter account last week, and I never did that before Danny Ferry got here.

I would think Orlando would ask for Jenkins in a Dwight trade….

That I gotta agree with you and there goes some of the logjam at SG so many are worried about here.

Emir, hoopshype is your friend and when MC is working, I check his tweets. Combo works for me well.

NiteOwl, if D12 came here, then all of a sudden, there would be an ‘ESPN Atlanta’ channel’. You gotta have enough national interest to get one of those deals.

And Houston wouldn’t necessarily be screwed with Lin and Asik…just lots of pressure to earn it.

KevinM

Wow, Lin gets deal in first 3 years of 5/5/14!!

Knicks are passing on this deal.

Woody better get something out of his team this year with Felton getting the PG slot.

KevinM!

I’m surprised The Knicks passing on Lin-Sanity? NYC was the perfect stage for Lin’s talent, on so many levels. He would have paid for himself with jersy sales alone. Of all the over paid players in NY, why not pay Lin too? I wish we could have gotten him, Lin would have packed Phillips Arena all by himself.

Just Joe

July 15th, 2012

I think NY is playing games with Houston. No way they give up on the marketing money tied to Jeremy Lin. Their guard slots will almost be as crowded as ours though: Lin, Kidd, Felton, Russian PG, Smith, etc… When Shumpert comes back, one of the above will likely be traded.

Just Joe

July 15th, 2012

Which group do you like better (chemistry, cost, potential, current ability, etc…):

NY’s guards: Lin, Kidd, Felton, Prigioni, and Smith.
ATL’s guards: Teague, Harris, Wiiliams, Jenkins, and Morrow.

3rd year, Lin’s contract: 14M salary and double that to pay dollar for dollar over the luxury tax.

Stephen A saying its 30M in year 3 alone! Houston came back and revised their original offer and that 3rd year is the killer.

You gotta have Lin in NY….Stephen A says Knicks have moved on with Felton and Kidd.

Just Joe, I like our guards since both teams play for the same type of coach.

WOW!

The luxury tax is $1.75 for every $1.00 over the threshold. What a deterrent for NY, but they would make that back and, then some … they could always move him. IDK, if I let this guy walk if, I’m NY.

That Houston GM is …. shrewd! He just put NY in a pickle jar when, he revised that Lin offer in the third year from 9M to 14M. I’m thinking that 3rd year is a team option – No?
