Updated: Hawks in talks about Korver

Vivlamore filling in for MC.

The Hawks are in “serious discussions” with the Bulls to acquire guard Kyle Korver, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. While talks continue, no deal has been completed.

The Chicago Tribune reported that a deal is done, via the Timberwolves, pending Korver passing a physical. However, the person familar with the situation said the talks have not progressed to that point.

The Bulls had to either guarantee Korver’s $5 million option for the 2012-13 season or waive him and pay $500,000 by Sunday.

In 65 games for the Bulls last season, Korver averaged 8.1 points in 22.6 minutes per game. Kover, 31, was a second-round pick (No. 51) by the Nets in the 2003 draft. He was traded to the 76ers, where he spent his first four-plus seasons. He also played for Jazz before playing the past two seasons with the Bulls.

Ferry is doing a great job, now we can pass the inside out to the perimeters shooters instead of the isolation at the end of games. I like the better offense moves and, I’m sure Josh, Al, or can clean up the rebounding, blocks, etc..

Korver is not a bad player, here is a guy who gets you 9 or 10 points a games and averages a WS/48 of .172. .100 is average. He can play some small forward, so its not a bad pick up.

How good will the Hawks be this yr. Don;t count out a 40 to 45 win season. The slippage is not going to be as bad as some might think.

Hinrich and or/a second round pick????? That is not giving up much.

BTW, Jenkins looks good in the Summer league in Orlando. Jenkins is going to have a role right away. I do want him to play with confidence.

The Hawks got some decent talent in the moves in Morrow, Harris, Korver, signing Lou Will & Jenkins is no Ed Gray, Gaylon Nickerson or Darryl Comegeys. Jenkins will play in this league.

All the time Hawks fans wanted a bold GM who would be out of the box & now we got what e wished for,

So lets deal wih it and see how the process comes out.

Come on, ATL did not like the team as it was constructed, did not appreciate the Joe Johnson era and now he is in Brooklyn, so its not like we missed much. We did not like the old, so the new GM brought in something new.

I have an assignment for the blog.

Head over to the Houston Rockets Blog and vote in their poll:

“If Rockets trade for Dwight Howard, do you think GM Daryl Morey can put together a roster that can be competitive next season?”

It is right under the Kyle Lowry picture. Vote “NO”.

http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2012/07/kyle-lowry-moves-on-barely-able-to-recognize-the-team-he-left-behind/

The vote is almost 50% – 50%. A few votes from the ATL will help push the fanbase over the cliff.

With all the shooters that the Hawks are amassing, there’s no way LD can allow Josh to camp out just inside the 3-point line next season. He’ll be forced to play down low, and there should be some room to work, if the shooters shoot as expected.

Benson played very well. Jenkins can flat out shoot but he has to work on this handles. Wannamaker looks a lot better than what I saw out of him in the preseason last year. I dont know if Scott makes this team unless other moves are made freeing up a spot.

Getting rid of Joe and Marvin.

Picking up Lou for 1/4 of what Joe was making (and $3 mil less than Marvin).

Getting Korver for nothing.

Still maintaining big salary cap flexibility.

Danny Ferry so far has fleeced the Nets, the Jazz, and the Bulls, and he was there to take advantage of a dumb 76ers front office. (Philly signed Nick Young and Kwame Brown, but let Lou walk.)

On top of all that, just for sh*ts and giggles, we actually drafted a guy who can play.

And to the haters: this team RIGHT NOW is better than last year’s team. Losing Joe was a plus, not a death blow. This is crazy, and I’m loving it.

@highsider. Patience. There are many scenarios. This season. Trade deadline. Next season. Trades. Free agency. My point is anyone who crtiticizes is going to make a fool of themselves because they have no idea what the big picture is. What the plan is. What trades will be made and when. Do you knwo what Ferry’s plan is? No. Do we really care a whole lot about making major deals this year? Maybe. Maybe not. Half of this is VERY temporary and I will NOT criticize ONE move before I see the roster for 2013-2014…..and there is no reason anyone else should because 2013-2014 IS the big picture and the only thing that matters. There might be 25 trades/signings between now and then/. DOnt get caught up in the moment with each aand every rumor , move or signing and FORGET te big picture AND IT CERTANILY IS NOT THE COMING SEASON……

THERE IS A VERY LONG WAY TO GO BETWEEN NOW AND NOV. 2013….CHILL OUT

Rod,

Making the All star team, especially more than once means you are one of the best players in the world, as the NBA is easily considered the best baskeball league in the world..

Really? So guys like Mo Williams, Jameer Nelson, Antawn Jamison, and Zydraunas Ilgauskas were one of the best players in the world?

And based on the flip side of your logic then, Josh Smith is not one of the best players in the world since he has never made an all-star team.

I am not a fan of the Kyle Korver trade either. But he is another expiring contract, so at least it doesn’t affect our salary cap flexibility for next offseason.

And there is also a small chance that we are accumulating expiring contracts to send to Orlando, so we can match up salary wise

Either way, I just hope we sign a guy like Matt Barnes or Pietrus to provide some toughness at the SF spot.
