The Hawks are in “serious discussions” with the Bulls to acquire guard Kyle Korver, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. While talks continue, no deal has been completed.
The Chicago Tribune reported that a deal is done, via the Timberwolves, pending Korver passing a physical. However, the person familar with the situation said the talks have not progressed to that point.
The Bulls had to either guarantee Korver’s $5 million option for the 2012-13 season or waive him and pay $500,000 by Sunday.
In 65 games for the Bulls last season, Korver averaged 8.1 points in 22.6 minutes per game. Kover, 31, was a second-round pick (No. 51) by the Nets in the 2003 draft. He was traded to the 76ers, where he spent his first four-plus seasons. He also played for Jazz before playing the past two seasons with the Bulls.

*Dont bother they’re here
How can you get a defensive rebound if there is no miss? If the opposition is dunking all over our soft as center then where in the fck is the rebound?
Payasos
*******************
Right.
Cause the dunk shot is the most frequent used shot in the NBA, and it is more important to prevent someone from dunking on you, than it is to get a hand in a jumpshooter’s or post player’s face when he’s about to shoot the ball, and force a miss.
We must prevent a team from dunking, because if we don’t, they’ll dunk 20 times a game. As for the shooters, just leave them wide open because preventing a dunk is more important.

“Period If you cant defend the rim, you don’t win a championship in NBA basketball. Any one who can recognize that is a loser and a clown…”
Well, you said it. Glad I don’t have those kind of recognition skills.

I think there is thing called taking a charge in the NBA. I…I…I think that would stop people from dunking a good bit.
Oh Oh and clogging up the lanes for people to dunk would help as well.

Benson happy with himself for the jump shot plays no defense and gives up a layup at the other end.

You’re right. I looked at the schedule incorrectly. A military time of 15:30 is 7:30pm. Since I live in the central time zone, the game start times are going to be different from you “eastern time zone” residents.

The closer you get to the rim, the higher the shooting percentage. The more active your big men at at defending the rim, which includes, denying, altering and blocking shots the better your chances are for going deep in the playoffs.
Stevie Wonder can see that.

Got to look at entire body of work a few games don’t tell you anything about a player.
Right now Benson looked good, but just scoring isn’t enough you know.

I agree there has to be some defense but there is one thing everyone seems to be over looking we do have one center in the trade something we have never had in a long while a 7′ c/pf….
I don’t know how good he is never really watched him play was never that into the nets but if he is better than Collins then Petro will be an asset with Benson and overall with the team as it is now we may have lost iso Joe but look at what we gain overall maybe not the #1 seed but I don’t think we be on the bottom either.

No defense from the Summer squad today, despite them trying to press and double team the Spurs . Jenkins a non-factor so far. Scott struggled early. Benson doing what he always does as an offensive PF/C, making mid-range shots and post ups.
Summer league is usually about showcasing a few guys, while the other guys fit in where they can. We’ll see if more plays are called for Jenkins in the 2nd half.

@ Ray . . . the Summer league squad may be giving us a preview of how the real Hawks will play. Scoring may be up, but defense may suffer with all of the shooters/non-defenders on the team. Josh Smith might have to defensively cover for everybody more than ever.

Hawks looking much better in this 3rd quarter. Defense is a lot better, holding the Spurs to one and done.
Jenkins had a nice series of plays in which he plays defense on one end and helps force a turnover. Then he comes back on the other end, gives a shot fake to his defender, takes one dribble to the side, and casually knocks down an 18 footer. Scott playing much more aggressive too, despite his shot just not being there tonight.
Conner trying to coach a little bit today I see.

@drmaryb
“…I see you conveniently left out my main ingredient: SIZE? Steal per game is an arbitrary stat in my opinion, unless it leads to points. But, I like your argument being, somewhat supported. Compared to the whole package Joe Johnson brings, these little guards are flea-flickers. Joe could not be guarded effectively when, he imposed his will both outside and inside the paint. He will be missed and, almost impossible to replace with one player, here in Atlanta.
The playoffs will be very difficult for us without a comparable Robin or bona-fide Super-Star.” – drmaryb @3:40pm, 7/14/2012
My post @7:09am [dated 7/14/2012] primarily focused on backcourt duos that had or [I thought] could have both guards to average 18-20+ppg apiece for a regular season [e.g., J. Crawford and J. Johnson, T. Parker and M. Ginobili, B. Jennings and M. Ellis, and R. Westbrook and J. Harden]. I don’t believe I mentioned anything about defense in my post.
When you questioned/inquired about defense, I gave you the Jennings/Ellis backcourt as both Jennings [12th] and Ellis [14th] were in the NBA’s top 20 in steals per game [spg] for the 2011-2012 regular season. To paraphrase, you said spg was an arbitrary stat[istic] but I feel [those] stats that increase your team’s possessions [e.g., steals, offensive and defensive rebounds, (forced) turnovers, etc] and, conversely, decrease your opponent’s possessions are rather important. The more possessions a [basketball] team has translates into more scoring opportunities for that team and vice versa.
I liked Joe Johnson as a Hawks player and I still like Joe Johnson as an NBA player. Joe Johnson was simply overpaid and the result of him [J. Johnson] being overpaid was the fault of Rick Sund and the ASG – not Joe Johnson.

The big white dude thinks he’s a shooter . . but he’s not. NBA 3 isn’t the college 3. He’s one of those “fake 3 point shooters”, as I like to call them. Spent most of his time making 20 foot college 3s, but never shot NBA depth 3 pointers.
