Josh should have drove the ball to the rim and shot the floater or pull up jumper with 7 sec on the shot clock!

Oh thats right, he’s not Rudy Gay! Billy sorry azz Knight passed on Rudy for Shell Head..

Worst GM in Hawks history!

****************************
Slimjr . . . This is the highlights of last night’s game

You don’t have to watch the entire thing, just let enough of the video to load so that you can go to the 2:13 mark of the video and FREEZE IT THERE.

What you’ll see, is Josh at the top of the 3 point arc with Brandon Bass on him. Look at the score, where the players are, and most important, look at the time on the shot clock.

Then watch the BRILLIANT move that Josh puts on Bass to get to the rim and DUNK the ball. It took him 3 SECONDS for him to cross over Bass from the top of the 3 point arc, and get to the rim.

In all honestly, that WAS a Rudy Gay-esque move that he put on Bass and went right to the rim.

But in the shot he took with under a minute to go, instead of trying to do that same move, he settles for the 22 foot jumper.

It’s just the maddening part of Josh’s game that drives people crazy. Had he made that same type of move and made the same type of dunk, he’d be a hero in ATL right now, because that puts us up by 1 and puts us in position to get a stop to win the game.

Instead, we’re talking about breaking up this team.

I see a lot ripping Josh for the jumper. That was a bad shot, but I do not think he had time to do much else. I think his technical was a bigger problem. That one point ended up being huge. And, for what? So, he could b#tch at the ref for not being allowed to check in.

That was Josh’s dumbest play of the night. Perfect example of him reverting back to his “$1,000,000 talent, but 10-cent head” mode.

I was thinking about possible things that could be done for the team this offseason… I’ve concluded that it doesn’t matter because no matter what they do we’ll still have Joe and the ASG and we’ll NEVER win with either of them!!

Shmuck green and white. Old and just barely beat a lame team. You’ll lose next series in 5.

a Josh Smith quote: “When you’re playing in an environment like the Boston Garden, they have probably the best fans,” Smith paused, and then thought better of completely throwing Atlanta fans under the bus, adding, “some of the best fans in the whole entire league. Like I said before, I was a little jealous, you know what I mean?

“The fans out here are so supportive of their team,” he said. “You go out and look in the stands, there’s nothing but Celtics jerseys and I don’t see a trace of red in there, you know what I mean? Understanding that the fans are that passionate, it adds an extra advantage for them. A bad shot can be as good as a turnover when you’re playing against a team like Boston, especially with the fanbase that they have.”

JOSH SMITH IS NO MORE INTELLIGENT THAN A DUMB MULE. THERE HE WAS LAST NIGHT WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE AND THE HAWKS UP 79-76, AND ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS DRIVE TO THE BASKET AND WIN THE GAME [THIS GUY LIVES ABOVE THE RIM--HIS VERTICAL LEAP IS INCREDIBLE]–ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT JOSH DOESNT KNOW THAT HE CAN DOMINATE A GAME. JOSH DIDNT KNOW THAT THE HAWKS COULD HAVE EASILY WON LAST NIGHT’S GAME BY 20 OR MORE POINTS. SINCE THE HAWKS AND SMITH DIDNT KNOW THAT, THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD TO GRIND IT OUT TO TRY AND WIN THAT GAME.. THE HAWKS COULD HAVE EASILY SPRINTED AND BREEZED TO AN EASY CAKE WALK WIN BY RUNNING THE BASKETBALL DOWN THE THROATS OF THE OLD, ANCIENT CELTICS. TEAGUE HAS AS MUCH SPEED AS RONDO AND COULD HAVE EASILY UTILIZED HIS SPEED, THE SAME WAY THAT SPUD WEBB USED TO FOR THE HAWKS DURING THE MIKE FRATELLO YEARS. IF TEAGUE GOES OUT AND REPLICATES SPUD WEBBS GAME, THEN THE HAWKS SHOULD WIN 60 GAMES EACH YEAR FROM NOW ON. GO HAWKS, GOOD LUCK.

hawkfan, I wonder, rereading the Josh quote, if he really does want to play for the Celtics. I know we have had Celtic fans on the blog claiming that Josh will be playing for them after next season. Maybe they’re right. He is tight with Rondo.

Anyways, no one knows, but thought crossed my mind after reading what he said again.

Anybody want to bet the the great Boston defense won’t hold Philly’s offenese to 81 ppg for the series. The difference maker will be Lou Williams, a guy off the bench who plays very similar to a guy we used to have. LOL

Hawks need keep Josh AND Horford and move Josh to SF and get the ball rolling, trading Josh would be crazy unless your getting back a star player in return, Joe is the issue here not getting players involve with his dribble dribble, trade Joe who has no heart and never has anything to say.

As I’ve said before, Josh won’t be doing this franchise any favors when it comes to free agency, and I don’t blame him. Better try to get something of value for him, because he is good as gone, unless we can get Dwight Howard.

@ BIG DOG

Someone is finally starting to see it Josh is not a PF and Horford not a C both are SF and PF. As much as you guys hate for Josh to be a SF that’s where he really belongs.

Yes Joe is the issue here like I said whomever did that one poll someone talked about 2 pages ago they only see points not the big picture.

The Big picture is Joe didn’t do a dog gone thing this season or last season after Joe got his big payday he checked out on the entire NBA how he even got to All-star these past 2 years I’ll never know, and actually it lets me know just how irrelevant the All-star game is since Joe did get there.

Section 303 . . . I think he simply wants to play in a place where he will be beloved. In Boston, he can get the love that he seeks. Even mediocre role players become legends in that town, if the Celtics advance deep in the playoffs.

Ironically though, Josh is probably the 2nd coming of Antoine Walker. So talented, that he made 3 All-Star teams and made almost 110 MILLION DOLLARS over his career.

But the thing that killed Toine, was his horrible shot selection, and the fact that he wanted to be a PG. It was the thing that really kept him from being a true Celtic great. His shot selection was far worse than Josh, and the things that he did sometimes were mind boggling.

He was more offensively skilled than Josh, but never efficiently maximized what he could do on the court. Defensively, it was no contest that Josh was the better player.

But their mindset, and passion for the game were the same . . as well as why people criticized them.

No doubt Rufus1 the NBA game is rigged like all American Professional Sports!

And has been that way a very long time….Cheating is a way of life in America, like baseball and apple pie….

Denver took the refs out of the picture with a massive beatdown..

Wont happen in Atlanta till we get new ownership….Gearon Jr opened his mouth and once again convinced us of that thought…

As for Gearon . . . I wonder which blogger he is on these boards?

Gearon- April 2010 . . before the playoff series with Milwaukee:

On leaving Woody’s future up to Rick Sund

“Any owner that meddles with coaches and players, that’s a mistake. We have become a franchise that has become a standard for, we are loyal to our coaches, loyal to our GM, loyal to our players. I think loyalty goes both ways. I think (Woody) is the longest tenured coach in the East (tied with Doc Rivers). We brought Joe in here, and we’ve built with a bunch of good young players. I think we are capable of being an elite team, and that is what we have been building for.”

Also

On his view of the Hawks’ offense

“I’m not a coach, I’m not a GM, but when you watch our team, when we move the ball, we are pretty good. Because we’ve got a deep team. We don’t have LeBron, we don’t have Kobe, but we’ve got a deep team where any night we’ve got a bunch of guys capable of performing at a high level. I look at our team kind of like the Boston Celtics of the 80s, when they had Bird, Walton, Ainge, Parrish, McHale–you don’t know on what night which guy is going to get the points. That is when we are at our best. And we’ve got two guys capable of breaking down a defense, Joe and Jamal. Not many teams have that. That is one of our strengths.”

Instead of MC doing a quote list from a guy who doesn’t even talk much in Joe Johnson, maybe he should do one on Michael Gearon, who has given people more than enough on what he thinks about the direction of this team.

From ajc.com; Dec. 27, 2011.

The meat-grinder, 66-game schedule might wear down the Hawks. The depth will be tested if a key player is injured. Chances are at some point rival fans will swarm the Hawks’ arena and energize their opponents instead of them.

Whatever the complaints, Hawks coach Larry Drew doesn’t want to hear them. Throughout the team’s training camp Drew delivered a consistent message: No excuses.

“In a nutshell, we play the hand that’s dealt to us,” Drew said. “Whether we are talking about our schedule, our personnel, how we may feel about officiating. It means everything.

“It’s easy to make excuses. It’s easy to point a finger. It’s easy to cop out. ‘No excuses’ means you don’t accept it. You deal with it. You deal with it like a man.”

The Hawks are making what could be one final run with their core group of players. The hope for general manager Rick Sund and the team’s ownership is that these players have reached a nexus of talent and experience and are ready to be true contenders in the East.

Drew thinks they can do it and plans to hold his players to that standard. “When a coach tells you, ‘No excuses,’ he holds you responsible as a player,” Hawks forward Marvin Williams said. “It shouldn’t be any other way. You know your job.”

“Everybody has got excuses, for whatever reasons,” Johnson said. “We have got to put that [aside] and just make it happen. We can’t worry about what people say and think about us.

“Everybody is talking about, ‘Do we think we have enough to win a championship?’ Yeah, we’ve got
enough. We’ve got to believe it, and we can’t keep coming up with excuses.”

Ironically, all we are hearing from ownership, LD, and players are excuses. SMH

More from the article;

Early in camp, Hawks players seemed focused on what the team didn’t have. They said they wanted the team to re-sign sixth man Crawford or replace him with another explosive scorer. Instead, the Hawks added guards Tracy McGrady, Jannero Pargo and Willie Green, players who should improve the defense, but likely won’t have the same impact on offense as Crawford.

Hawks captains said the team could use another center, one who is a defensive force and a threat to
score in the post. The Hawks re-signed Jason Collins, who is an effective defender in a very narrow role, and didn’t add another center.
.

The players must have been talking to Rod and High-sider before the season started
