Damps the best rim protector on the team besides Josh.
We may have to play cagey. Dirty. Send Dampier in for some hard fouls. Run Vlad out there. Something tells me if Doc had Vlad, he’d find a way to use him to hurt us. Why don’t we do the same to them.
Something also tells me if Doc had Pargo, he’d use him to hurt us also.

The hawks need to play this way for the two games in Boston if no Josh or ZsaZsa. Because they will not have an interior presence so get the ball and go. Now when you get Josh and ZsaZsa back now you can play a little bit more traditional but you still have to pickup the pace. If the hawks dictate the base for 48 minutes in each of the next 5 games of this series they can win 3 of them, with one in Boston and two at home. Also the longer these Series go better chance of Horford coming back for either the second round or ECF in they should get that far.

I’m not giving up. Find a way to win. I don’t think the Celtics are good enough to just blow us out. Hang around. Steal a game in Boston, and you back in control.
And ZaZa is in Boston’s head. He can have an outsized presence in the game. Garnett is afraid of him, just a little bit, on a personal level. Get ZaZa back. Old Boston may begin to break down a little bit. Tough season. Everybody’s hurting.
Somebody needs to slap Marvin. Talk bad about his mother. Tell them KG doesn’t like his mother or something. Lock Ivan and Marvin in a room for 1 minute and tell Ivan to rough him up until he becomes a man and wants a championship. Something.

Steve W if Josh is out it’s no Brainer, you go with big lineup.
Teague, Joe, Vlad, Ivan, Collins.
Pargo or Hinrich, Green, Tmac, Marvin, Dampier
Dampier has play and back up Collins in the playoffs.

Dog – That’s what I think also – but since LD won’t even try Damp, I’m trying to come up with something that LD will at least consider.
And Collins ain’t going to last much longer playing major minutes, and as “fast” as he’s playing now. Gotta use him like 20 mpg max i would think.
I wonder if PP and KG would eat Vlad alive on O? Probably so.

wow i just read on wiki that a sprained ligamein your knee will take 10-14 days to recover and 1-3 months to completley heal to be able to play contact sports… wow josh smith is most likley done for the playoffs.. the hawks cant get a break josh smith, al horford, zaza, no way we can advance without one of those 3 players playinghealthy on our team…

At the end of the day, we should’ve won the game, up by 11 late in the 3rd quarter, and I’m mad. Anyway – Fight for a win Friday nite, or even Sunday, and all is better. I’d like both games in Boston – but a split would still be nice.

This series isn’t over yet. I get the feeling we want it too bad to just give up.

mr cunningham, you do a great job covering the hawks. i love reading your columns you focus on all aspects of the team not just the negatives when the hawks lose like other writers do. you cover the total sides.. keep up the good work.things can really change quickly but i’m confident the hawks will rebound and put the old celtics out of their miseries.

I don’t give up that easy – Even if Josh is gone – play Collins and Damp – get Vlad some action. Who knows, he may get on a streak of 5 or 6 games where he shoots lights out from 3. Marvin may get mad and decide to play.
Pargo and Green may go off.
TMac may play like it’s 2002.
Fight is the main, operative word. Don’t wuss out. This town deserves a Championship!

Steve W – No way is this series over, Hawks are deeper team than any body in the NBA, but LD must think defense before offense.
Big Lineup make this team much better on defense point blank period.

@High-Sider: Don’t forget that Jamal Crawford is a Celtic killer, who they never found an answer for. The deep bench was better for the Hawks in the regular season, but they are going to miss JC1 in playoff games like last night.

MsDee,
“Our bench players look like starters when they are playing the right way and knocking down shots. But they have yet to put on that performance so Drew should have known better to NOT keep them out there longer then need be.”
That was during the regular season, this is the playoffs. Two totally different kinds of games.”
AND??? So u mean to tell me we shouldn’t TRY and see for a couple of possessions IF they (the bench) have the the touch going for them 1st?

From Mark Bradley;
Said Larry Drew, asked before the game about the Hawks’ penchant for losing when they shouldn’t: “We’ve seen that. You’ve been around here.”
Drew: “I’ll be that little birdie on their shoulder tonight just to remind these guys that we’re going to have to have a supreme effort from everybody.”.
If I’m LD, the in-flight movie on the way to Boston will be a replay of the Heat game when Charles Barkley dogged them out.
And for those complaining about the bench, I think both Celtics bench and Hawks bench scored 14 pts. The big difference is Paul Pierce carried them, and Doc rode the guys he needed to. LD stuck with his bench too long, and JJ disappeared in the 4th.”
So basically what u are saying is that Drew ran out of options, right?? Both benches cancels out themselves, and Joe was no match to Pierce..so how is that Drews fault?

All in all tho, the Hawks should just call it a day and rest..this season was just too brutal for them and many others, for that matter, to handle a 66 game season..way to go!! Proud of how far u guys came with all the injuries and to STILL finish in 4th place (record wise). Take a LONG vacation and heal, U GUYS DESERVE IT!!

1. Your Roster is Flawed.
2. J-Johnson doesn’t elevate his team on a consistent basis. When another team knows that you are hurting withour a star player and the one star left has to be Mr. Everything, and you know it and he still goes off for 36ppts. and 14 reb. You have a problem. Johnson has never been able to do what Pierce did last night. And you overpaid him during free agency. What a Joke.
3. You have a power Forward who shows glimpses of a dominant game in the low-post, but falls in love entirely too much with a jumper.
4. Horford needs to be playing at the 4 not the 5.
5. Got to trade either J-Smoove or Horford and get a real center.
6. To many DUPLICATE players on roster.
7. point guard can score but can’t run team when it counts.
8. HAWKS have no player who the team can count on when times get rough ala “The Truth” Paul Pierce.
Don’t blame Coach cause these birds act like Ostriches and bury their heads in the sand when they have to tighten the Jock straps.
9. Collective Low basketball IQ of team is reason they fail when the occasion calls for them to rise to the challenge.

MsDee you cant play our second string against boston’s first string. During the regular season LD gave games away playing the second team to long.this is the playoffs . You really have to shorten the rotation. Larry let’s JJ try to take over games letting him to play iso & taking JT out of the game, this results in a slow tempo offense. LD is doing nothing different to TMac that he has done to JT. He fk around with him until the public took noticed of JT. He then knew that he couldn’t give KH the starting pg position.this still didn’t mean that he would hand over the running of the offense to JT,he has gone out of his way to try to make JT fail.
