“”He’s devastated. He’s scared,” Ninfo said. “They’re facing serious jail time even though there was no criminal intent whatsoever.” -The Canoles-
That’s what their lawyer said about his clients, a 45 year old dad and his 18 year old son who called 911 and held a 61 year old retired black man and his 57 year old wife at gun point while 5 Newton county sherriff’s rolled up and arrested the old couple and threw away the keys without interrogation for 24 hours. Who walks around with Settlement Statements in their pocket and, why should they answer to some blow-job, who is tresspassing on their property with guns?
WHEW! The couple had just purchased and closed on their new retirement home and went there to change the locks. They told the aggressive white neighbors they were the new home owners. But of course, they were called liars and were threatened to be shot at gun point while unarmed. The Sherriff said the neighbors were HERO’s on Thursday, but then were arrested on Monday.
Hours later, much more serious charges — aggravated assault, false imprisonment and criminal trespass were the charges. The guns used were AR-15’s. Heavy Artillery
The retired couple from Stone Mountain were connected you see: Their Lawyer is Don Samuel:
The couple’s son Bruno was the former Soccer Coach for Atty’s Samuel’s son.
“Samuel’s high-profile client roster has included rapper T.I., Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Jim Williams, the Savannah antiques dealer whose murder trial was chronicled in the book, “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.”
Uh Oh! Better learn to LOVE THY NEIGHBOR. Stop profiling people!

Funny how they don’t list Josh Smith on the enemies list
KG owns Josh Smith.
Start Ivan alongside Pachulia and Josh as soon as possible,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuklWpNBhE0
Also now that playoffs are here we might as well go for broke and bench Hinrich. Yuck.
————-
Kirk Hinrich, starting SG: Kirk Hinrich is a natural point guard. He’d rather pass than score, and he’s traditionally had a superb turnover rate for his position. Naturally, the Hawks have chosen to start him at shooting guard, even though A) he can’t shoot, B) his skills complement Jeff Teague’s not one bit, and C) shooting guard is the natural position of the team’s highest-paid player.
As you might expect, Kirk Hinrich is not having a great season. Ten points off his three-point shooting percentage were stolen by Willie Green. His shoulder continues to be completely janky. And today Tony Parker committed to UCLA over Kansas, continuing a lackluster year for Jayhawk recruiting.
Hinrich is traditionally a solid defender, especially known for keeping up with rotations. That’s the thing that primarily justifies his starting at the 2: Larry Drew probably thought he and Jeff Teague would be a nasty combo for the other team’s scoring guards. But Hinrich looks very, very old and slow this year. Maybe it’s the stink of his Wizards uniform still lingering. In any case, I’m not concerned about him keeping up with Bradley’s baseline cuts, let alone Rondo’s anything.

lol at rev and fearing for jis life
though theoretically, though safe ii was in a similar setting back nt the sixties when my college team would go to the atlanta federal pen when the worst criminals were held there and play their guys in a game. it wasnt the guys on the field you worried about as much, after going through security but their fans behind the barriers in the bleachers. it made my vocabulary and sexual education richer for sure.
briggy dmb laid it out there for you. usually it is associated with plantar fascitis which i thought it was until they mentioned it is in the ankle. it is like walking with foreign bodies in your ankles with
ice picks sticking you. it means it is worse if there us fluid much like a knee effusion. it should make his cuts less sharp and his ability to defend less.

drmaryb, doc,
thanks for the explanation on plantar, sounds like the Celtics are coming in banged up. I hope the series goes like it did in ‘87 except i want the Hawks winning this time instead of blowing game 6 and game 7.
drmaryb, dr j son actually killed himself in Florida if I remember. He did have some mental issues.
obrien, i think Woodson will get the job if Phil doesnt want it. Watching a lot of Knicks games here up North, he has gotten Anthony to buy into playing defense and Amare is better at it but still is a defensive liability. Knicks will be a tough out for Miami, Will probably go 6 games or so.
As pointguard slim have stated, best to go with a big lineup against the Celtics. The Celtics are not a good rebounding team. The only really big mismatch I see is at point guard and small forward if Smith isnt playing against Pierce.
Does anyone agree with me that Joe Johnson’s game and personality are similar to Joe Dumars from the Pistons?Difference is Johnson is stronger and taller and Joe was better at getting to the basket.

I agree with Schutlz, I think a AH coming off the bench giving you 10 minutes – even at 70% is better than Collins (hey I admit even he is playing a little better ) and Damp. Teaming Al with Marvin, Ivan, Pargo and Willie gives us a great bench (Yes – not drinking the TMAC koolaid)
Tommorrow I say sit Josh and Joe. Play JT and let him go for 30.

Good news for the Hawks: Denver beats OKC. With that win, the Mavs would need a win and a Denver loss tomorrow to Minnesota to move up from 7 to 6. John Hollinger on Twitter speculates that the Mavs may rest their starters tomorrow, deciding that there’s no way Denver loses to Minnesota.

Celtics…
Have no real post game and KG take a lot of jumpers
Rondo is the only one who can really penetrate off the dribble
They don’t rebound well
Start Marvin
Marvin offers more scoring and a better perimeter defender…..
Josh and Marvin can defend KG and Bass
Marvin would create more space for Teague

Josh can only defend KG for so long. How long until KG starts getting under his skin? Without Zaza to counter KG, Josh’s emotion have the ability to escalate into possible technical’s or worse, suspensions. Garnett is a scrappy player whose got the balls of an elephant. Does anyone here really think that he would let anyone on our team punk him?
Yes I’ve noticed Ivan’s name come up in these scenarios. But what sets Garnett apart from almost our entire team…is that he’s virtually immune to our own trash talkers. Do you think Ivan can take something without wanting to get into a fight with KG? I think not.
I think it’s sad that one of the biggest problems we WILL face is mental toughness. Oh that and Pierce, Garnett, Rondo, Allen.
It will most defintley be a very intresting first round.

Atlanta Hawks 2011-2012 Regular Season Final Report Card by High-Sider
Grading Scale: A [100 – 90]
B [89 – 80]
C [79 – 70]
D [69 – 60]
F [59 >=]
I – Incomplete
W – Withdrawal
Marvin Williams – D+ [68]
[Lower] Back surgery (check); No Jamal Crawford (check); Season-ending [pectoral] injury to Al Horford (check). The three aforementioned events should have led to an offensive breakout season for Marvin Williams, however, the offensive explosion [for Marvin Williams] never occurred. Marvin Williams, this year, has currently averaged only 10.2ppg and 5.2rpg. Although he has shot the basketball at a respectable level this season [43.6%FG, 39.0%3FG and 78.6%FT], Marvin Williams should have averaged no less than 14.5ppg and 7.5rpg. I will admit Marvin Williams seems to play better coming off the bench. Maybe Marvin Williams has found a new role on the Atlanta Hawks as a reserve [player].
***************
Complete and utter bullcrap rating for Marvin
1) He played 2 minutes LESS this season, than he did last season 26 minutes per game this year, compared to 28 minutes per game last year ). Why? Because Drew was giving scrubs like Radmanovic extra minutes when he shouldn’t have been playing. Marvin was shooting 50% 3FG ( 23 – 46 ) going into February, but was only averaging 24 minutes a game. Then he had a horrible February. Since then, he’s been part of the 2nd unit and played great as a bench player. And his minutes STILL haven’t increased that much.
2) Marvin had a PER of 16.1 this year, ranking him 3RD on the team ( if you take out Horford ). That 16.1 PER is the highest in Marvin’s career.
3) He currently ranks 17th in the league in efficiency amongst SFs, despite ranking 29th in minutes amongst that same group.
4) His win score per 48 minute number of .160 is NUMBER 1 on the Hawks ( if you take out Al Horford )
5) Defensively, when Marvin played SF, the opposing SF only had a PER of 11.4
*********************
LOL . . but he gets a D+ because YOU expected him to have a 6th man of the year type of season, despite all of the gunners Drew brought in here. Heck, JJ’s shots per game even went down this year, but Marvin’s shots and points were supposed to go up?
I’ve never defended Marvin as much as I have this year. And that’s because the guy gave us more consistent play than in past seasons. When the guy was on the court, he played his role on both offense and defense.
Marvin’s grade: 81 ( B- )
CORRECTED FINAL GRADES
April 26th, 2012
2:37 am
Josh A ( does it all and we would not be here without Josh)
JJ B+( Clutch shooting, nice 3ballshot, Playing the SF now)
Zaza B (Proves Al is a very average guy. Does more than Al because he fights)
Ivan J B- ( If Al had his heart wed be past the second round)
Green B- ( nice scoring off the bench can flat out shoot )
Teague GRADE C-
Unintelligent thinker.Too many dumb plays average shooter, ball hogger who cannot dish the rock as a point guard trade bait material
Al Horford GRADE D
Did nothing to mentally prepare for the season. Continued his arguing fight about playing Josh’s position from last year. Came to camp out of shape then tried to rush his way back into shape casing a Major muscle tear leaving his career in question. When asked about coming back for the playoffs he said ” I cant help on defense, let me play offense.” I dont want this guy on my team or in my locker room – Trade Al
TMac C (He has his moments)
Marvin C ( weve come to accept that Marvin is what he is)
Hinrich GRADE C-
He should be in shape now and should have taken the starting point guard play away from Teague whose not as good. Which says a lot about Hinrich. Mike Bibby was much much better then either of these to impersonators when he was their ages.
CORRECTED FINAL GRADES
April 26th, 2012
2:44 am
Larry Drew D+
Mike Woodson developed this team from pampers to contenders. Larry Drew’s job was to take them to the next level. He was given a depth of bench Woodson never saw and mature starters who are professionals.
I havent seen any improvement over what Woodson accomplished, proving the change did not make sense.
The bottom line is whether we get out of the second round or repeat the same scenario.
Ill give Drew his final grade after the playoffs. He got a D+ at the mid term.

@northcyde
In response to your 4/26/2012 post @2:08am, Marvin Williams’ playing time was reduced because Marvin Williams was not being productive offensively. Marvin Williams’ lack of offensive aggressiveness as well as his [often times] inability to score isn’t the fault of Larry Drew; that fault belongs to Marvin Williams. Marvin Williams’ subpar and mediocre play and performance forced Larry Drew [LD] to curb Marvin Williams’ minutes per game [mpg], take/demote Marvin Williams out/from of the starting lineup and insert Kirk Hinrich into the starting lineup. At one point during this [regular] season, Marvin Williams went through a scoring slump in which his scoring average dropped to 9.0ppg – 9.2ppg. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Marvin Williams’ scoring average may have even dipped below 9.0ppg; that is totally unacceptable considering the absence of Al Horford [due to injury] and Jamal Crawford [due to (a) non-re-signing] while Jeff Teague, a first-time starter this season for the Hawks, was able to consistently average above 12.0ppg.
It’s not like my expectation[s] of Marvin Williams’ production was out of the ordinary or severely inflated. For three seasons [2007-2009], Marvin has averaged 13.1ppg and 5.3rpg, 14.8ppg and 5.7rpg, and 13.9ppg and 6.3rpg, respectively.
Please note that Marvin Williams was a starter at the beginning of the season and was relegated to coming off the bench when his [level of] performance either subsided or demonstrated huge inconsistencies.
Marvin Williams should have been the [Atlanta] Hawks’ third leading scorer this regular season – not first-year starter, Jeff Teague. After all, Marvin Williams was the overall No. 2 pick of the 2005 NBA Draft.

northcyde`s post r e; Marv,
perfectly worded and Grade is accurate.
I might even [would have] given Marv a B+
for exceeding expectations.
* (kinda like grading on the curve)
____________________________________________
I have always thought Marv is / was a [4] offensively,
and he can defend the [3] and most [4`s] especially stretch [4`s].
As a 6th man role player he has played the [4] offensively
or more so in the post and done a workmanlike job.
He comes off screens for the mid-range jumper,
spots up well for corner threes, has unveiled a little jump hook,
all these weapons are much more suited to his skill set than
trying to be a slasher [which he is not].
No excuses for Marv but he has no core strength.
Perhaps his back was his drawback, who knows ?
If he were to build his core strength to the point
where he could finish through contact ?

Yeah drmaryb,
I get on and off this blog every now and again and forget to say WASSUP to ya..just trying to stay positive about my Hawks and hope they believe in themselves to just go out and PLAY SMART. I try not to get all into the ’stats’ of a player. We have all the right tools to win a 1st and 2nd round series. Now the finals is another story but if we play our positions correctly..ya know, Josh playing (INSIDE 1st then out/ box out rebounding), Joe (catch and shoot w/o the excessive dribbling), Marvin (catch & shoot/box out rebound/playing tough defense), Teague (attack the lane while drawing fouls/increasing in steals & assists), Zaza, if better, (rebound and easy putbacks) while 2nd unit ALWAYS be ready to ADD what is MISSING from the 1st unit. If we can accomplish this, WE CAN AND WILL SUCCEED!!

I feel confident that we will prevail in round 1 against the MASH unit over in Boston. But, we really need Zaza to do this. We just don’t know if Zaza will be ready to battle yet. I watched him walk out to mid court to receive the Jason Collier Memorial award and he was wearing what looked like Chuck Taylor, black canvas sneakers and, I didn’t notice a limp in his gait cycle.
However, those are the worst shoes for him to be wearing because they have no arch support.. I just hope Zaza is doing the right re-hab and, will be ready to be his full self. Meanwhile, Ivan may be the X-Factor in the paint and, I just hope Ivan plays within himself.
I don’t want to look past The Celtics and, worry about round 2 just yet.

It will be hard to win without 4 quality bigs.
Foul trouble is almost as certain in a playoff series as a fake fight. It isn’t an indictment of the hawks players, I recall that D12 spent a fair amount of time in the last series in foul trouble. If (more likely when) Josh and Ivan face foul trouble against the Celtics, it will force LD to play guys like Marvin, Vlad or Twin/Damp more than the desired minutes (in Marvin’s case, slightly out-of-position). TMac may not only need to be healthy, but will need to be ready to play tough defense against Pierce, especially if Marvin is forced into minutes at PF.
IMO, the road to victory against the Celtics will come through an unexpectedly strong performance from one of those players at PF or C. Not Josh or Ivan, but Marvin, Vlad, Twin or Dampier. And that is likely true even if Zaza is able to play.
My hope for tonight’s game? Health… home court with another injury is utterly useless.

Last preseason game of the year tonight. It has playoff implications. If the Hawks win they get homecourt. So…
How do the Hawks match up against the Mavs? What do they need to do tonight to win? What should be the starting line-up?
Since we won’t likely get a pregame blog-thread until 5 minutes before tip-off we need to do our own preparation. What say ya’ll?

AJ,
Thats part of the reason I am surprised LD has not found a way to give Dampier some minutes, because if Zaza is injured, who knows what to expect from the center position?
And I would hate for Dampier to have to play meaningful minutes when he hasn’t seen the court in the last 6 games, and has only played 5 minutes TOTAL over the last 22 games. And to think, signing him is the reason we are in luxury tax. SMH

Grandad,
With Marvin exceeding your expectations, is that because your expectations were low based on his past history?
northcyde,
If Marvin’s draft status (#2 pick) and contract is ignored, he would not be criticized so much. However, just like JJ gets criticism for his performance based on his $20 mil + contract, Marvin will get criticized as well.
That being said, I would split it up his grade. Marvin the starter, I would give him a C-. Marvin the Bench player, I would give him a C+ (maybe a B- with a curve).

“Ivan guarded Blake better than Josh did yesterday.”
I’ve been talking on Hoopinion about Ivan’s defense against All-Star big men most of the season.
“Does anyone here really think that he would let anyone on our team punk him?”
Yes. Ivan Johnson. You have to remember KG is a bully. He’s scared of anybody who would fight back. If he was about to come to blows with Ivan he would probably wet himself. Put Ivan on KG and KG is a non factor. But watch what happens. The refs will call touch fouls on Ivan to get him out of the game because the league office knows all of this better than you and I. Or there will be a confrontation and Ivan will get suspended and KG won’t.
“Do you think Ivan can take something without wanting to get into a fight with KG?”
Yes. I’ve seen horrible calls go against Ivan and he maintains his composure. He’s got a baby to feed. He doesn’t want to risk this dream come true that he’s walked into and I think he can walk away from anything but a thrown punch. And I don’t think there’s anybody in the NBA with the balls to throw a punch at him. Sure as hell not KG, the aforementioned bully and coward.

Yes; Marv has exceded -My- expectations.
Also; I`m one of the few who stuck with Marv the longest.
I really never thought he was a bad draft pick w/o looking at his choice
through the prism of time.
Of course, looking back, everyone`s a genius.
But, at the time, only Dick Vitale is on the record.
However, in the last two years, I have lost all confidence in Marv.
