If the Hawks lost last night Jeff Shultz would have wrote a blog about it. Hawks won so he decides to write about Asante Samuel.

“Be careful Worldwide. I tried that going to Philly for a Falcons game and almost lost my life, similar to the Stews. All places are not as nice as Atlanta. I’m sure you know that with the Worldwide moniker”
Those Philly fans are NUTS. I lived there three years while getting my Master of Divinity.
But the most scared I’ve ever been at a sporting event was in College Park. We played Lakeshore High School in baseball (against Marquis Grisson). A couple of guys on my team had ongoing issues with guys from Lakeshore. A gang from Lakeshore attended the game and police were there to keep peace.

The refresh rate of the Hawks blogs the past couple of days has been painfully slow. Takes about 10X longer than normal to post, turn page, etc.
Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know what’s wrong?

Rev,
Ha! Ha. Grew up in a house that was right in front of Lakeshore. Used to go to those baseball, football and basketball games all the time when I was younger. I can’t even tell you the number of times I have seen people get caught up at that school. We had to let a couple of people in our house, to keep them from getting seriously injured. Luckily there was not as much gunplay as there is today, but many people took a lot of losses back there. Lakeshore is an Elementary shool now.

Wolf’’s Law!
“also ray allen ha bone spurs in his ankle. drmaryb, doc can u give me a summation of that type of injury?” -Briggy-
_____________
In medicine, there is a condition called Wolf’s Law. In summation, it states that when bones are stressed, or pounded against another bone or hard surfaces the bone will lay down extra bone to support the external forces being applied. (Bone Up!)
e.g. Underneath the meta tarsal base of the big toe, as it strikes the hard surface of the ground or pavement while walking, this is called a bunion due to repetitive trauma. A podiatrist will typically treat the symptom and, fit their patients with orthopedics.
A fine chiropractor would treat the cause and correct all misalignments of the pelvis, knee, ankle and foot joints. That, along with demonstrating a corrected gait cycle and proper shoe ergonomics is the surest way to correct this issue.
Now, the ankle as in Ray Allen’s case, is an encapsulated joint that has hyaline cartilage to cushion the shock and absorb the blows between the four ankle bones. When that cartilage has worn out, due to repetitive traumas the bones will thicken and grow bone spurs (arthritis) to thicken and remodel the bone joints to bear up under the applied repetitive stresses. It takes about fifteen years to accumulate bone spurs.
These spurs can re-absorb themselves and disappear, though highly unlikely in weight bearing joints, if and when, the repetitive blows stop and, all the misalignments are corrected. The podiatrist who treats the symptoms and not the root causes, will perform useless surgery for temporary relief to the patient by shaving the spurs away, but within a matter of years the spurs will return because the causitive problem was never addressed to begin with.
Chronic mal posture, vertebral disc degeneration of the spine will also adopt Wolf’s Law when the disc height decreases, and the surrounding joints effuse and sclerotic changes appear in the spinal bones. It is very common in my practice to see osteophytes (bone spurs) in the spinal joints as well. The worse ones are those that occlude/interfere with the spinal canal space and the nerve root
exits. Surgery is highly recommended in those instances.
Back to Ray Allen, he should just retire and hang up the jock strap. IMHO.

“Forget Al. He said he’d only contribute offensively – not defensively. Yeah like that helps in the PLAYOFFS where DEFENSE is ESSENTIAL. How can he say he cannot be held responsible for defense but not offense, since he was injured?” – JeJe
Jeje, did you miss this in the last blog?:
“I knew from the very beginning that I wasn’t going to be able to get my strength until later this summer but I have very, very little strength in the post where I can’t hold my own ground,” Horford said. “The playoffs are intense. The intensity goes up. You can go in and play in a practice. You can even play in a regular-season game. But the playoffs are different. The way that I play, and to be most effective to the team, I’m not at that point.”
Sounds to me like Al has realized that he is needed defensively, and doesn’t yet have the strength to defend in the paint. Wouldn’t you rather that he ADMIT that?????
I’m happy to see him showing some sense AND seeing where the team needs him. IN THE PAINT.
But somehow to you, he’s still wanting to just shoot jumpers, lol.

You’re welcome. I always love chatting with you. I hope I didn’t go to far off on one of my tangents. I shy away from using medical terminology when talking to patients, because I think it’s rude and hard to understand. Hopefully, I stuck to the point and used an example that we can all relate to in my explanation. It was fun for me.
Atari, OK, so that was you? You funny man you. I just bought a PS3 Sports Champion Move to watch DVD’s … never played a game on it. Just got tired of buying crap Sony DVR’s each year that always break down. I’ve tossed about three of those Sony’s in the green dumpster. LOL
I’ll have to go to Game Stop one day and get me a game to play. I really don’t need another bad habit though. Blogging is bad enough, but when you’re OCD and ADHD what else you gonna’ do? LOL
We used to go to the Wal-Mart vestibule back in the early ’80’s and play Pac-Man and Centipede and Galactica when our Mom’s was shopping. Now a days, we’d be abducted by some sicko child molester and murdered. Boy, do I miss the good ole’ days.

Yes, I do remember his first wife. She did look like a version of Halle Berry, of course no one is a dead ringer for Halle, she bad. But yes, it was around ‘88 or so. I think her Father was a doctor or lawyer as I recall.
But, I saw Nique about fourteen years ago with a different wife then. So, if I’m correct this would be wifey number three. This girl is a player on our team and she is a Lawyer. Red Bone, tall and thick legs and ankles. I was taken aback a little, because she looks on the tough side to me. I haven’t seen her in a dress though. LOL!
She is very nice. I guess you could say, Nique get around and believes in love. LOL

Celtics Hub!
Here’s an interesting take on Mr. Joe Johnson from a Celtics blogger on the Celtics Hub today:
“The Cardinal · 3 hours ago
I’m not a Hawks fan, but I wish everybody would stop raggin’ on the contract and look at Joe Johnson objectively. As a 2 guard, only Wade and Kobe have (arguably) been consistently better during the past 5 years. Fact is (in hindsight, of course), the worse trade the C’s have made in the past 15 – 20 years is Joe Johnson to the Suns. If we had kept Johnson to play beside Pierce, the C’s would have had their own version of Wade and LeBron during the mid-00’s ’til now.
Offensively, the guy can take over a game by driving, passing, or shooting the 3 as well as anyone in crunch time. Defensively, he can clamp down on any 2 guard as well as either Wade of Kobe. “Iso Joe” can be compared to “Iso Pierce” – sometimes you hate it as a fan, but it pays off more often than not when the game’s on the line, which is why each respective coach uses it so frequently.
I’d much rather see Johnson at the “3″ as opposed to the “2″ during the playoffs simply because we can match up better – but offensively, he will still be dangerous.”

“Then, when Atlanta out-scored L.A. 15-2 over the final 3:00 of the third quarter to turn a 70-70 tie into an 85-82 lead, the Hawks scored 10 points off four L.A. turnovers. After Griffin was called for goal interference (a turnover), Teague hit a trey, after Mo Williams made a bad pass, Teague hit a runner, after Griffin lost the ball out of bounds, Teague hit another 3-pointer, and after Paul made a bad pass Josh Smith had a put-back dunk off a Marvin Williams miss.” – nba.com
This sequence of events best epitomized the victory. Nice job but meaningless if they can’t close-out the season with a win over the Mavs.

Yes, they did have two boys I think so. The oldest boy must be about 21 or so by now. Nique’s Mamma and the whole family really are super leaches. The Mom’s wrangled an Antique Store out of Nique and it went under pretty soon afterwards.
The whole family would run up into The Disco Kroger’s on Ponce De Leon, near the Fox Theater, Briggs. The sister would load up 5 carts of Lobster, Steaks and Alcohol at a time and just holler “I’m Nique’s Sista … put this on his tab!” Of course, Nique would be on the West Coast road trip and didn’t know of this.
Nobody would pay the bill and, Kroger’s would run article in the AJC to embarrass them into paying up. Gerald Wilkins refused to give them his phone number, but Nique was such a nice guy. Gerald was stingy and tight and probably is still loaded by putting his money away. I’m sure the first wife was not very happy being married to the Kardashian’s (the whole darned family). LOL!
I’ve heard he has kicked them all to the curb as of now though. Everybody has to work these days. LOL

“They’ve done in the playoffs the past 5 years the same as they’ve done the past 45 years–fail to beat a Round 2 opponent.”
Agreed. As I said before, it’s like saying: at least we don’t suck THAT much. Yet, at least the Falcons organization is willing to make changes in personnel/coaching to get over the hump, instead of ‘believing in the core’ that hasn’t done sh!t for the past four years.
“Braves beat the Dodgers on the road. That’s pretty special–for them.”
Not to mention they’re playing exciting baseball so far. They would have lost that game last year. Also, the Braves actually have a world championship in ATL, 13 straight division titles(record), and three world series alpearances… so, of course, they will get more coverage than a team that has NEVER passed the second round.

I won’t get into any specifics, as I refuse ot talk about another person’s mother. But I will say that I grew up knowing the name of ‘Nique’s mother. Before Twitter, Facebook, blogs or text messages…. when the only news what from the streets and from Monica Kauffman. And I knew her name because of all of the drama associated with her antics during ‘Nique’s prime. You know what they say, you can’t choose your family.

Clowns is an understatement. Nique was such a regular guy about town. Just another guy he was, Me and my girlfriends used to go to all the parties Nique hosted at the Marriott Marquis and the “W” westin Hotel Ball Rooms back in the late ’80’s.
Nique would show up after games and the visiting Pistons, John Salley (Salley and I are actually doing some wellness business stuff together tight now, his brother lives here and, Is my contact), but anyway … The DJ, Cash bars, Dance Floor … was a regular event with Nique’.
John Battle is/was married to the Singer Regina Belle, she would be there. The athletes today are nothing like they were back then. They are more disconnected now.
Nique’ supports our football team now and comes to the games and just blends in with Braves T-Shirt and Jeans, worn out sneakers just like the rest of us. I love the man he is. Damien Wilkens is that way too, no enterouges.

From espn.com;
Anthony has repeatedly credited Woodson for holding players accountable.
He was asked again about supporting Woodson after practice on Tuesday.
The reasons Anthony cited included, “the confidence that (Woodson) instilled into everybody, the belief that he has in everybody. Just his coaching style, the way he’s coached, (he’s) kind of a hard-nosed coach. (He) holds everybody accountable out there, saying that everybody is responsible for their own actions. I would love to see him back around here.”
Amare Stoudemire echoed that sentiment, but not to the same extent as Anthony.
“Coach Woodson has done a great job for us. He’s done a phenomenal, phenomenal job,” Stoudemire said. “I love his attitude. I love his coaching style. It would be nice (to have him back).”.
There is a rumor that the Knicks are trying to get Phil Jackson. But if they don’t, I hope they give the job to Woody. I think he has earned it, even if its just a 2 year deal.
