Pachulia out, no word on Horford

Vivlamore reporting from Philips Arena.

Just a quick couple of notes following the Hawks morning shoot-around before tonight’s game against the Clippers.

* Zaza Pachulia is definitely out with a sprained left foot. It will be the sixth straight game he has missed with the injury. Coach Larry Drew continues to term Pachulia as “day-to-day” and would not say if the center will play in the regular-season finale against the Mavs on Thursday.

* The Hawks will go back to their regular starting lineup against the Clippers, according to Drew. Jeff Teague and Kirk Hinrich will start at the guards, Joe Johnson and Josh Smith will start at the forwards and Jason Collins at center.

* Drew would not say whether Al Horford who play against the Mavs in an attempt to play in the postseason. “We don’t know,” Drew said. “It’s still a day-to-day evaluation. He’ll make a decision to see how he’s feeling.”

* The Hawks will announce this year’s winner of the Jason Collier Memorial Trophy before tonight’s game. The award is named after the late Hawks center who passed away Oct. 15, 2005, and is presented annually to the individual who best exemplifies the characteristics Collier displayed off the court as a community ambassador. Marvin Williams won the award last season.

I will report back before tipoff with a game thread.

I will be at Game 1 and 2 thanks to the nice deal on Livingsocial. My streak is still intact. Still haven’t missed a home playoff game at Philips Arena yet.

“It just irritates the hell out of me that fans who supposedly follow the team all year, would balk at going to a playoff game, for whatever reason. But that explains why the Braves started to not sell out playoff games.”

I know you are not from ATL, but we want star power in this city. It’s that simple. Get stars and watch them sell out. If people will pack the house to watch LeBron and Melo and KD and Griffin as opposing players, they will pack the house to watch them play for the home team too.

Sorry Najeh. When it comes to playoff time, that goes out of the window. Either you are down for your team, or you’re not. I’m glad that you support the Hawks during the playoffs. It also doesn’t surprise me that some of the biggest complainers about the Hawks, don’t even go to the games.

It is what it is though. Glad you took advantage of that ticket deal. I hope others do too.

I’m hoping for a situation like last year. I was able to see Game 3 vs Orlando in Atlanta that Friday night. Then I drove back home, and to Memphis the next day to see the Grizzlies beat the Spurs in Game 3 of that series. I’d love to do that again on back to back nights.

The link only shows that when a game is close, JJ has made some big shots this year, regardless of the opponent.

If I did the same thing for Jamal Crawford, I would guess that he’s shooting less than 40% in those same situations.

So it is what it is.

Listening to Pastor Troy – Champion

Too bad the marketing people for the Hawks can’t get Troy to do a Hawks version of this song to this beat, and play it as the video intro to games. One of you youtube video people need to do a 2012 Hawk highlight film, with this song playing in the background.

I agree poop there is too much standing around on the offensive end, even if Marvin is in the corner he needs to be motioning to keep his defender from the double or to draw more focus on guarding him than the player with the ball, thats part of why iso joe doesnt work.If that is what you meant

yo o’b. i think woody might press somebody and the pacers, who i didnt mention and meant to, should be well rested going into round two against whomever

celts got coached up a bit there o’b as well as healthy. they are the dark horse to me in the east as they have performed well with a difficult schedule the last six weeks.

Hard to discount the Pacers with the way they’ve been playing the past couple of weeks.

there were too many home games crunched together and too few stars available to show me the entertainment i paid for starting when the heat showed up without wade and queen nursing nicks.

And the Heat STILL beat the Hawks that night.

But it’s cool. Let Boston fans take over Philips Arena, because fans are too apathetic about the on the court product. At some point, blind loyalty has to kick in, and the team needs to be FULLY supported in those first 2 home games.

Wonder if four-and-a-half decades w/o getting past the second round has anything to do with it?

Tyson Chandler is the current league leader in FG%. He is on pace to set the all time record for FG% in a season. He shoots nearly 30% better than Carmelo Anthony from the field. Should they run the offense through Chandler? Should they be taking the ball out of Melo’s hands and letting Chandler get more shots up?

And Chandler didn’t even play against the Hawks Sunday.

Since we loss Sunday, I would start to rest our guys. No need for them to battle the last two games. When Joe had rest, look how much better he played. Josh is not nearly as explosive as before, so give him rest too. Limit JT’s action as well. Tonight and Thursday, JT, TMac, MW, IJ and JC.

We have to win in Boston anyway, so home court is only beneficial to the owners. Lets sweep Boston by resting our players also.. That mean two games in ATL and two in Boston.

yeah dn, i meant to include the pacers in my first comments about the playoffs. dark horses but maybe a bit too experienced at coach and point to get much further but they could surprise or contest well in the second round. they are in the best seat waiting to play the tragic, like a 1st waiting for a weak 8th seed.

The Hawks are 5th in the NBA in total defense, can’t ever remember a Hawks team that’s been that good defensively. Now here they are currently with the 4th best record in the conference despite all the injuries, and still no love from the home base.

Show some progress (get PAST Round 2 or, better yet, win a championship) and the homebase love will come–bigtime.

There is no way the HAWKS will get past the first round if Josh does not stop trying to be a point guard, he has way too many turnovers. Marvin is beginning to evolve now, he is not playing under Josh and JJ’s shadow. We have a chance to do something good in the playoffs but Mr. Smith will be the catalyst that ruins it all. Watch and see. The best thing for the HAWKS is to let him go after this season and we will have a much better team.

Some on here are really saying they will not attend playoff games this year?! Need you to explain that one.

Can’t have Philips be Boston Garden South this postseason.

It seems as if some expected Joe to get better after he signed his big deal. That may happen coming out of a rookie contract but I doubt that it ever happens during a player’s 3rd contract. I’m pretty sure that Joe wasn’t paid to get better. My guess is Josh’s next contract won’t come with the expectation that he will be better. Iguodala will be signing a new deal in the next 15 months, surely his new team won’t expect him to morph into Wade in his prime. This is real life, not fiction.

Al by the numbers:

Career ? 12 pts 8 rebs

Allstar? 5 pts 3 rebs

Playoffs? 10pts 7rebs

College? 12 pts 7 rebs

What in the world are you guys thinking? This man is All average. Funny, Hes Just back from laying out from an injury and the first thing his ass hollers is “he aint playing no defense” Hell he didnt play any when he was healthy.

I also wish hed quite whining about not wanting to play defense at center and that hed rather play josh’s position. Thats whats causing all the issues is his selfish lazy attitude. Dude needs to be traded. Hes not a team player.
