Knicks at Atlanta Hawks: Game thread

  • Larry Drew initially said he would start Jason Collins at center but left open the possibility of changing the lineup if Tyson Chandler doesn’t play. It turns out Chandler will sit, Landry Fields starts and Amar’e Stoudemire is at center. Drew will counter with Josh Smith at center and Marvin Williams at power forward.
  • Zaza Pachulia remains out and Drew said he’s still not sure if he will be available for the start of the playoffs: “I’m hoping so. He’s certainly doing better than, from my understanding, what they had anticipated. There is some progress with the injury and where he is with it.”
  • Al Horford put his chances of being ready for the first round at 70 percent. Drew: “We are keeping our fingers crossed but we are not totally counting on him. We don’t want to have wishful thinking. When they told us about the surgery that the probability would be very slim so at that point made our mind up we would not get him back.”
  • Drew said he anticipates Horford would play “not very many” minutes if he returns: “We would have to work him in gradually. I wouldn’t want to throw him right into the fire. I know his conditioning is not very good because he’s been off for so long. It would be a gradual process to get him back adjusted. It will really be how he feels. When you lay off for that long it’s tough to get your legs under you.”

Drew . , keep the ball in Teague’s hands. We got a positive play out of the possession, but no need to go away from what was working. No need for ISO JJ right now.

Best half of basketball I have seen Marvin play all year on both sides of the ball. Let’s hope the invisible cloaking device is not in the locker room.

Hawks are not going to go 9/11 from 3 in the 2nd half. Better clamp down on D and take care of the ball better. Post entry passes have to get better.

Good 1st half by the Hawks. They need to take better care of the ball in the 2nd half. This is definitely one of the best half of basketball I’ve seen Marvin play against a quality team.

Very rare to see this, but Josh is the only Hawk in the minus. And somehow, Josh Harrelson is the only Knick in the plus.

Actually enjoying the ESPN feed while recording FSS on DVR and I think both announcers are doing a good job. They are calling the game correctly for the most part, and not talking about stuff unrelated to the game at hand.

A world without women? Scary. Like being in prison with a bunch of dudes for ever. Ugh! Love women to the max. Started with my love for my mother. Good women are treasures that need to be appreciated.

Nice game, but Hawks need to take it. Let Ivan play!
