Knicks at Atlanta Hawks: Game thread
12:59 pm April 22, 2012, by Michael Cunningham
- Larry Drew initially said he would start Jason Collins at center but left open the possibility of changing the lineup if Tyson Chandler doesn’t play. It turns out Chandler will sit, Landry Fields starts and Amar’e Stoudemire is at center. Drew will counter with Josh Smith at center and Marvin Williams at power forward.
- Zaza Pachulia remains out and Drew said he’s still not sure if he will be available for the start of the playoffs: “I’m hoping so. He’s certainly doing better than, from my understanding, what they had anticipated. There is some progress with the injury and where he is with it.”
- Al Horford put his chances of being ready for the first round at 70 percent. Drew: “We are keeping our fingers crossed but we are not totally counting on him. We don’t want to have wishful thinking. When they told us about the surgery that the probability would be very slim so at that point made our mind up we would not get him back.”
- Drew said he anticipates Horford would play “not very many” minutes if he returns: “We would have to work him in gradually. I wouldn’t want to throw him right into the fire. I know his conditioning is not very good because he’s been off for so long. It would be a gradual process to get him back adjusted. It will really be how he feels. When you lay off for that long it’s tough to get your legs under you.”

Is it just me of does ESPN (aka Every Show Pertains2 NewYork) just refuse to talk good or in-depth about the Hawks until they are absolutely FORCED to …… like when we’re WINNING !!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t even get me started on our Home Court sounding like it’s rooting for the KNICKS………..

I don’t see why the player throwing the post entry can’t go closer to the sideline before throwing the inbound pass so that he can have a better angle.

Vlad should never get minutes in the playoffs ( especially if Zaza can go ). And you also have to watch T-Mac. His game is on or off. He’s off as hell today. If he had a game like this in the playoffs, you’d have to reduce his minutes.

That would require basketball IQ, I guess.

Pargo is clearly the best backup pg on the team. Hinrich should be 3rd to last off the bench. Right ahead of Collins and right ahead of Vlad Rad.

Co-sign, though in that case, the passer had picked up his dribble.

He has games like this when he doesn’t have lift. They shouldn’t be relying on him to score. He should be posting up and creating opportunities for the other bench players.

Hawks better be careful. At some point in this game, Carmelo is going to catch fire and start hitting from all over the floor and the Knicks fans in the crowd are going to get behind him. The Hawks better have a cushion when that happens or else they will be screwed.
