Knicks at Atlanta Hawks: Game thread
12:59 pm April 22, 2012, by Michael Cunningham
- Larry Drew initially said he would start Jason Collins at center but left open the possibility of changing the lineup if Tyson Chandler doesn’t play. It turns out Chandler will sit, Landry Fields starts and Amar’e Stoudemire is at center. Drew will counter with Josh Smith at center and Marvin Williams at power forward.
- Zaza Pachulia remains out and Drew said he’s still not sure if he will be available for the start of the playoffs: “I’m hoping so. He’s certainly doing better than, from my understanding, what they had anticipated. There is some progress with the injury and where he is with it.”
- Al Horford put his chances of being ready for the first round at 70 percent. Drew: “We are keeping our fingers crossed but we are not totally counting on him. We don’t want to have wishful thinking. When they told us about the surgery that the probability would be very slim so at that point made our mind up we would not get him back.”
- Drew said he anticipates Horford would play “not very many” minutes if he returns: “We would have to work him in gradually. I wouldn’t want to throw him right into the fire. I know his conditioning is not very good because he’s been off for so long. It would be a gradual process to get him back adjusted. It will really be how he feels. When you lay off for that long it’s tough to get your legs under you.”

I wish Zaza was active so he could deck some of these Knick players who are getting a free rein at Teague.

Melo is an elite closer, if this game is still close at the end. Hawks defense needs to clamp down

Doris doesn’t know what the hell she is talking about. Melo was clearly banging the hell out of Joe Johnson is the post plus Marvin is just having a good and lucky game. Look at Marvin’s regular season stats, witch.

I wish Michael con & ham would quit with the foolishness about Al” pleased dunk on me” horford coming back this year.
Thats all the hawks need is the great Al Houdini disappearing in the playoffs again this year. WTF.
This dude is not a player and only causes dissension amongst teammates What a loser.
Can we trade his 10pts 7 rbs average for a draft pick? I know we wont get much for his often injured ass.
Anyway, Ivan Johnson and ZAZA are our front court now and nobody is moving Josh from the Power forward position.

They should’ve went back to Joe Johnson. Teague shouldn’t have shot that 3-pointer.
