Gone Too Soon!

A 17 year old kid walking back to a friend of his Dad’s home, (watching the NBA All stars that night) was wrmed with an ice tea and a bag of skittles. He get’s chased down and gunned to death in his ventral (under belly of the body), for what?

Because he has black. No other reason, the guy in his pick up truck felt threatened? Then why didn’t he go in the opposite direction?

Treyvon Martin, RIP. God will deliver the justice in his own time. Prayers to the community, family, friends and girlfriend.

SteveW, I think you’re asking a lot with the 3 seed prediction. The Hawks should (if injuries do not continue to ruin everything) move up, though. They have some winnable games on the horizon and a few days off ahead as well. They can finish the season strong.

Not as concerned with others about Boston and NY. I would love to get Boston in the playoffs. I hate that f’ing team and they are not good. NY has won a few in a row, but other teams have won 4 games in a row this year, too. Just don’t get all the hype. NY Knicks are just a giant hype machine. They’ll go back to losing games soon.

Conference Standings!

If the playoffs started today, the Hawks #6 would match up with the Magic #3. I like that, however if we flipped that record, the Hawks would have home court advantage, (or – not?). LOL.

So in this case, you go for #3 or its a bust and a 1st round exit. I digress, do they?

doc,

How about them Lady Jackets? Hopefully the men will show some improvement next year.

dmb,

The Hawks beat Orlando last year in the first round, and Orlando had home court. I think the Hawks would prefer to play Orlando or Indiana in the first round (I know I would). Philly, Boston, Knicks are winnable, but I dont think the Hawks can beat those teams in a best of 7.

And nobody wants Chicago or Miami in the first round. I’m hoping Knicks, Boston, Bulls and Heat get matched up in the first round.

“NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL has suspended New Orleans head coach Sean Payton for the 2012 season, and former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is banned from the league indefinitely because of the team’s bounty program that targeted opposing players.

Commissioner Roger Goodell will review Williams’ status after the upcoming season and consider whether he can return to the league.

Also Wednesday, Goodell suspended Saints general manager Mickey Loomis for the first eight regular-season games of 2012, and assistant coach Joe Vitt has to sit out the first six games.

In addition, the Saints are being fined $500,000 and forfeit second-round draft picks this year and in 2013.”

Knicks-76ers Preview

By NICOLINO DIBENEDETTO
Posted Mar 21 2012 1:00AM

“The New York Knicks’ revival under coach Mike Woodson is turning the Atlantic Division into a three-team race.

The Philadelphia 76ers would prefer to keep that from happening.

The Knicks look to cut further into the 76ers’ lead atop the Atlantic when the rivals meet for the final time this season Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center.

New York (22-24) seemed to be fading as recently as a week ago, when a six-game skid dropped the club seven games behind Philadelphia and 4 1/2 back of second-place Boston, prompting coach Mike D’Antoni’s resignation.

With Woodson at the helm, the Knicks have since won four in a row by an average of 22.5 points including Tuesday’s 106-87 home victory over Toronto. Suddenly, New York is within four games of the Sixers and 2 1/2 of the Celtics.

“Guys are playing at a very high, confident level right now,” said forward Carmelo Anthony, who had 17 points and eight rebounds versus the Raptors. “We just want to bottle that up and move on and keep it going.”

GO WOODY!!!

HIRE WOODY!!

Home Court!

OB, oh ok … I forgot the Magic already had home cpurt and yet they lost to the Horford Led Hawks, with Twin as the X-Factor.

Well, in that case – (and I have prevent defenses in football – see Van Gorder – YUCKIE!) Perhaps, OB, we should straddle where we are and manipulate a #6 seed, (I know throwing games is whack!) but, anything to avoid those teams you mentioned until they beat each other up dood first. Meanwhile, try to get healthy and re-gell as two units:
starters and bench.

If we limp into the play offs: it’s like Teddy Perndergrass said, “Turn Off The Lights! Turn ‘Em Off!!! and, light a candle.” LMBO!

Grandad, I love Draymond. He will be missed next season. And, I agree. He would be able to help the Hawks.

Prior to this season, I did not think Green would be much of a pro. I’ve changed my mind. He has become a good shooter and has improved his ball handling. He’s always been a good passer, rebounder and teammate. I think he sticks in the NBA.

prison mike, I like Royce White a lot, too. He is just one of those guys who does everything.

TMACfan, preach on! ESPN has become garbage. Full of lazy reporters. They just continue to drone on about the same stories. Can’t wait for baseball! ESPN will talk nothing but Red Sox and Yankees for 6 months.

Another thing about ESPN….they are so transparent. They did not want the Big Ten Network to ever launch. It has. So, they attack or ignore the Big Ten when needed. 4 Big Ten teams in the Sweet 16 (Spartans, Wisconsin, Ohio St, and IU), barely mentioned. But, have a Big Ten team fall behind in the first half of a bowl game (i.e. Michigan State vs Georgia) and they can’t kill the league enough. ESPN = nothing but agenda driven dribble.

Dont forget, there’s a possibility that the Hawks could finished 5th and still have the homecourt advantage over the 4th place team. In the 4-5 seeds matchup, home court advantage goes to the team with the best record.

We should start a contest to determine how the Hawks will screw up this next draft. Will they….

1. Trade down in order to get cash and a later pick?
2. Sell the 1st round pick and then select someone with the 2nd rounder that no one else would have ever picked.

How will Sund do?

” I lived close to 10 years in the NYC area, the year the Rangers won the Stanley Cup with Messier’s guarantee, I had NEVER seen anything like that in my life (and still haven’t). You could FEEL the energy walking down the streets for the Rangers in the mdiile of the day. Closest thing to that I’ve felt here was Braves 1991-92.”

So you’re telling me that when the local sports team wins championships, the city goes crazy for them? Shocking.

I went to a Braves-Mets game in Citi Field in 2009. Half my section was Braves fans, the stadium was mostly empty, and we all got up and did the chop and chant when Brian McCann hit a home run while the few Mets fans in attendance glared at us silently. Funny how those fantastic New York fans were nowhere to be found then.

“My prediction: The Hawks make the 3 seed. Based on nothing but a hunch really. Don’t worry, I’ll man up and admit I’m wrong if we’re not a 3 seed.”

I don’t think they’ll make it to the 3 seed, but more importantly, I don’t think that’s even a good thing. The 3-6 winner will play the 2 seed in the 2nd round, and as it stands, the 2 seed is Miami. Whatever slim chance the Hawks have of making the Eastern Conference Finals rests on them playing and upsetting Chicago in the 2nd round. I don’t think they have any chance against Miami.

The Hawks should be aiming for the 5 seed so that they can play Philly. I know they haven’t played well against Philly this year, but I like their chances of beating Philly in Round 1 and Chicago in Round 2 better than their chances of beating Miami in Round 2.

We just need about 7 more rebounds off the bench, it doesn’t even have to be a 7 footer. Just a liitle defense and some off bpoards would go a long way – maybe a game or two in the playoffs … When we lose by 1 point again.

Also, we need some real fire power from long distance, instead of drilling the open shot, Vlad tries to put it on the floor and drive inside. We don’t need that from him, just shoot the dang ball – VLAD! Stay in that role.

I say upgrade Vlad, and we should have brought back Jamal or get/got Nick Young, JR Smith (oh no – not him) … We need a sniper man! We got neither and are saddled with injuries. That what makes the doe hards tired of this ISH! Other teams improve while we sell stuff and hide cash. Leave the fans alone! Do a better job with product on the court and, we will come in droves!

One good thing about keeping Collins is we will have someone familiar with defending Dwight Howard. If we face Orlando in the playoffs and Zaza or Al (if healthy) is in foul trouble, at least we can only assume that Collins can hold his own against Howard. At the expense of having one less option on offense, the payoff on defense is worth it.

On another note, Saints are really feeling the effects of the “bounty” system. Already lost picks, cash, and the coach for next year. Wonder what punishments await the players?

Najeh Davenpoop

March 21st, 2012

The ideal outcome for the Hawks would be to draw Indiana in the first round and Chicago in the 2nd round while Orlando draws Philly in the first round and Miami in the 2nd round. Orlando matches up better with Miami than any other East team, and Atlanta matches up with Indiana better than Philly. If everything shakes out in the Hawks’ favor, they will beat Indiana and Chicago, Orlando will beat Philly and Miami, and the Hawks can battle the Magic for a chance to go to the NBA Finals. Not a likely scenario, but of all the unlikely scenarios that exist for the Hawks to break through the glass ceiling, that’s the most likely one.
