Celtics at Atlanta Hawks: Game thread

Marvin Williams (hip) and Vladimir Radmanovic (back) are out. Jermaine O’Neal (wrist) and Chris Wilcox (heart) are out for the Celtics.

  • Willie Green (hamstring) says he will return after missing eight games. Green says he may have sat longer if not for Jannero Pargo being added to Atlanta’s long injury list: “I told that coaches and trainers it’s a matter of getting on the floor. I’m at that 80 percent range but, the fact of the matter is no one on the team is feeling 100 percent. I feel good enough to get out there.”
  • Drew said the crowded injury list means he may use Tracy McGrady on the second game of a back-to-back: “Because we are so limited there is a chance we will definitely use him again tonight. We just take it a day at a time.”
  • Drew said Pargo is scheduled to return to Atlanta from Cleveland tomorrow after having an appendectomy Sunday. Drew said Pargo will be out two to four weeks.
  • Jeff Teague and Kirk Hinrich are Atlanta’s only healthy point guards. Drew said Joe Johnson and McGrady also can fill in.
  • Drew on the Celtics: “This is a game that has a lot of meaning. This is our first encounter with Boston this year. I think both teams are looking to make a statement. With them on the long road trip they are on, we are a little depleted but we feel we are a capable team that still has the ability to win. We are going to come out and approach this game with playoff intensity. It’s going to be a physical game, it’s going to be a war. I think this is a statement game. ”
  • Green on the Celtics: “Those guys are very good basketball players. You hear things like they are older and not moving as quickly but that’s a team that is getting ready for another playoff run. We have to come in tonight focused with the mindset that we have to play them like they were a few years back going to the Finals.”

Collins has traveled, caused an offensive foul, missing all these FGs and too slow to cover his guy. There is no excuse to this idiotic sub.

I wouldn’t even mind the other stuff if Collins would knock down the free throws. 0/4 at the line. Pathetic.

The team doesn’t let jt run the. Offense.JJ,JS & KH usually dominate the ball on offense.JT just gave the ball to ZaZa who instead of going up for the chippy head faked about 3 times before getting fouled.I guess LD really don’t want JT to run the offense. What’s with JJ often throwing out his arm while trying to go to the basket. He is usually not called for it but is so obvious.

Can we please get rid of Collins FOR THE LOVE OF GOD????!!!! He is by far the worst player in the NBA and should not even be on a church league roster….I mean 0-4 FT and multiple costly turnovers??? How much more of this do we have to suffer through? Erik Dampier is sitting on the bench as well….why???

If the Hawks lose this game, it’s because of LD’s sub of Collins. Period. He caused technically 4 turnovers(adding the missed FTs).

We as fans have to start probing the Hawks organization as to whether there is some serious blackmailing going on with Jason Collins and Larry Drew. Collins HAS to have some incriminating photos of LD or something else. There is no other logical explanation as to WHY Larry Drew continues to not only keep Collins on the roster but play him in EVERY available game.. We fans who support this organization have a right to know what is going on there… There is no other logical explanation that explains how a guy who can only shoot 29 percent from the floor, gets constantly beat on defense, is way slower than anyone else on the floor, commits multiple turnovers, commits numerous moving screens, and overall is the worst player to EVER step foot on an NBA floor… gets significant minutes…
