Truth be told, Woody was a better coach for the Hawks than Lenny Wilkins. He did more with less.

Rufus, since you’re a teacher, I’ll try this analogy. The NBA is like AP-Calculus and not everyone is going to succeed in AP-Calculus. Just because you do well on standardized tests and the previous Math teacher thinks that you can handle it (in this case draft gurus) it doesn’t mean they are perfect in their evaluation. Acie was not able to stay in the NBA. I recall that he missed games for seemingly no particularly good reason. And this is from someone who was thrilled when we drafted him and was more thrilled after his debut in Philips against the Mavs.
Both Joshes played as rookies. So did Marvin, Al, Salim and even Acie (prior to the Bibby trade). Bibby was coming off a 15/5 season when Teague was a rookie, not exactly poor numbers (yes, his defense was bad but the Hawks won 53 games that season).
Back to the Knicks, they have struggled most of the season, so the fortunes of Lin should not take precedent over the team’s success. Lin was a story because he helped them win, I honestly don’t see the difference on who delivers the victories. Lin averaged 5 TOs in February and is averaging 4 TOs in March. His A:T ratio is less than 2, bad by any standard for a PG. How many head coaches would accept that from their PG? Think Pop, Phil, Karl, Carlisle or Larry Brown would go for that? I don’t.

Funny stuff from 680 the fan;
“After being acquired by the Hawks in a trade yesterday, Cash Considerations will be in uniform tonight. However, it has not been determined if cash will be starting or coming off the bench” lol.

AJ,
I haven’t been a teacher for about 20years….FYI
Everyone doesn’t have the skill to succeed in the NBA/classroom, but a good teacher/coach can get the player/student to maximize their abilities…. A good teacher can take a “C” student and make them a “B” student and put them on the path to college….A BAD teachers could send that “C” student on the path to being a drop-out.
If we assume that every player starts at the same skill level, then I agree with you that Law failed in this league….I believe Law was a “C” level PG (CP3 & DWill were “A” level) and Woody turned him into a DROP-OUT.
There are a numbers of “C” level PGs performing well in this league(Jenning, Holliday, Lowry, Lawson and Conley), because they were under the right coach/teacher. Some coaches always have Multiple good young PGs(Aldelman, Sloan, Brooks(OKC) and Scott), but Woody hasn’t had a SINGLE ONE.
Analogy:
If a person is rear ended more than 4 times, the insurance industry considers that person a bad driver, even though the accidents weren’t their fault. The statistics say that they are doing something to cause the accidents, but the law is in their favor, so they are not at fault.
Statistics say Woody can’t develop a young PG.

“also not sure i would say woody was better than wilkins. which wilkins hawks team underachieved?”
Good question jerry.
A better question might be which Wilkins team lost by an historic margin in the playoffs? Answer: none. Don’t ask that about Woody. We all remember.

Is it Sunday, yet? I want to see some zombies!
Anyways, looks like the Hawks play Nene again. I wonder if he’ll get the same calls as that Nuggets game. This is the weekend to get plastered. Nothing better than green-colored beer. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Well, the trade didn’t happen… time to move forward and watch an empty arena for the Washington game on TV. I can’t wait for the Hawks to play Boston on Monday, though. I always love their games.

Lin may remain the starter, but I bet he doesn’t play 30 minutes a game. Not with Baron Davis on the squad.

Zombie Watch!
Biggie Lou, sugar plum cakes … I’ve been counting down till zombie night too. I’m on zombie watch now … last night I was peering through the burglar bars to see if I was in danger. LOL!
I got $15 on a green beer tab that Rick and Carl (the kid) are headed to the barn to bait them in (Rick) and, the house (Carl) to tell everybody wassup!
Unless the blonde chic is sitting atop the Winnebago with binoculars and has already peeped wassup. Don’t forget Shane built that platform atop that windmill to look out too.
Thanks for the movies to see list FTPB, that’s like The Oprah Book List! LOL!
_______________
Wassup my 1st Love, Grand-Daddy … I see you over there. We might as well hang up that Trade for The Day post for now. You should be the GM of this org., you baby doll, have more heart!
Well another boring game to watch. The Wizards with no McGee will Ka-Fizzle tonight. No Nick Young, no NeNe either. Scrub City should be a cake walk for my Hawks!
