Atlanta Hawks at Kings: Game thread

SacramentoIvan Johnson is still back in Texas, where he’s expecting his first child to be born soon. Larry Drew said he’s not sure if Johnson will rejoin the team before Tuesday’s game at Denver.

  • Willie Green is out. His back issues have migrated. “It’s like a combination of ligaments that attach are inflamed and sore,” he said, pointing to his hamstring. “It’s like a hamstring, groin and something else. It all stems from my back. It’s a matter of it calming down and the soreness getting out. Once that happens, I’m good to go. I’m just trying to wait patiently and not cause any more damage.”
  • Wheeler High’s J.J. Hickson is out for the Kings.
  • Kirk Hinrich knows his name is being floated in trade rumors. He wants to stay: “I like our team. I feel like we can be a dangerous team come playoff time. I want to be a part of that.”
  • Michael Cunningham, Hawks beat

Hawks have a size advantage. If they slow down the tempo, run the ball through the post, and Zaza can slow down Cousins, the Hawks can win. If they get caught up in the Kings’ up tempo game and start jacking up jumpers, they will lose.

Marvin will get blocked by Isaiah Thomas at least once. Kings by 2.

If the Hawks win tonight, I believe they move up to the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference.

Joe will have 2 rebounds tonight and you won’t hear a thing from LD, even though he said he would hold Joe and Duck accountable on the glass tonight

Waiting for Isaiah to shut down Marvin

I don’t know what the Hawks will do tonight. Team is too unpredictable. But, I do know that the Spartans are Big Ten Champs and a #1 seed! Go Green!

Trading Marvin for Sessions is dumb. As bad as Marvin is, he is a frontcourt player (we are very thin at SF) and he plays okay defense.

Trading for ANOTHER POINT GUARD makes NO sense at all

According to MC, the Hawks are going small. Marvin to the bench, Kirk at SG, Joe at SF.

With no Ivan, someone on the Hawks’ bench better put a body on Chuck Hayes when he comes off the bench.

Melvin, exactly! He has missed a leaking out Josh at least 3 times already. It has to be frustrating for Jost. Just throw it up there and let him get it because he will.

I really don’t have much faith in Teague as a distributor. He has not shown any skill or consistency in that regard. He is a scoring point and still not what we need although he is better than what we have had.

This is what I’m talking about. We keep posting 6′9 Josh against 6′11 Thompson. We have a 6′8 Joe Johnson being guarded by 6′5 Tyreke Evans, but he is shooting 3’s. LOL

Isaiah is named after Isiah, though.

Gerald Green’s dunk was great but I am a little partial to posterizations. Josh over Ibaka is still better to me.

    Rod,

Without Marvin starting, I cannot express the happiness this gives me.

Marvin is the same guy who said he would never request a trade and he is content with where he is now. He basically is saying he does not want to have a bigger role on this team or another. ROFL

Guys like Blatche, McGee, and Cousins all need a vet to teach them how to take that next step, but I don’t see it happening. Cousins obviously is a step above the other 2

Joe cuts inside and receives a pass under the basket but passes it out instead of going up and getting fouled. Wish he learned how to draw fouls from Pierce his rookie season.
