Atlanta Hawks at Heat: Game thread
Miami–Sorry this post is late . . . technical issues.
- Joe Johnson (knee), Willie Green (back) and Tracy McGrady (back-to-back) are out. Dwyane Wade (ankle) is starting for the Heat.
- Larry Drew on Joe: “I’m hoping he’s close. He’s been working out every day. He says he’s feeling better but that was the case before the Golden State game. We are just keeping an eye on it.
- Drew on the pace tonight: “I think the one thing that is important against them is you can’t get into a run-and-shoot contest with them. They will run you right out of the building. You have to be disciplined enough to play at the pace that is comfortable for you and play at a pace that will allow you to dictate the pace of the game.”
- Drew on Kirk Hinrich’s 35-percent shooting: “I think it is just a matter of him really getting his legs under him with his surgery. When he came back we tried to bring him along slowly and we knew it was probably going to take a while for him to really get his rhythm, his timing and really needing time to get his legs under him. He has had some games where he has shot the ball really well and then he has had some games where his shot has been short and off. I still think he is still kind of in that training camp mode.”

Great play by Kirk. Those are the situations where the Hawks can force turnovers, by sneaking up from behind when people are posting up. Gotta pick your spots with doing that so you don’t get burned, but that was great timing by Kirk.
Hawks still hanging in there. Keep going to what works on offense. Josh in the post, and if that’s not there, Teague driving to the hoop.

The simple fact it’s this close Congrats hawks I know I make my statements and so do other bloggers about how we feel on this team, but right now win or lose I still take my hats off to your efforts.
For the record this is the Hawks vs. the Refs + Heat or just the Refs take your pick.

Regarding Bob and Nique, I have no problem with homerism, being the Skip Caray fan that I am. I do have a problem with Nique saying things like “the Hawks have taken control of this game” when there are 15 minutes left in the game. That’s the type of sh-t Skip Caray was too cynical to ever say. Gotta balance your homerism with a healthy dose of skepticism.
