Warriors at Atlanta Hawks: Game thread
7:07 pm February 29, 2012, by Michael Cunningham
- Joe Johnson (knee) is in the starting lineup. Larry Drew said he will monitor how Joe feels to determine how much he will play. “I know with tendinitis the best thing for it is rest,” Drew said. “Hopefully these days off will benefit him.”
- Drew said he doesn’t ever plan to make Joe a healthy scratch for the sake of giving him days off: “At this stage of the season, I don’t think it will be a case of giving him days to rest. If we do anything, we will cut his minutes down. Since the season is still in full bloom, we just have to grind it out with the way the season is. What we are cutting back on is the practice. Those are the recovery days now.”
- Vladimir Radmanovic (ill) is out. “He’s had some problems with his stomach,” Drew said. “He missed shootaround, came to the arena to warm up and it started bothering him again. So we went ahead and just sent him home.”
- Zaza Pachulia (calf) is active.
- Erick Dampier’s second 10-day contract expired so the Hawks have to sign him for the rest of the season to keep him. They have yet to do so but said they expect to complete a deal tomorrow. Dampier is at the arena tonight.
- No word on if Al Horford (chest) was cleared to begin rehab.
- Jason Collins (elbow) said he’s scheduled to begin rehab Friday.
- Stephen Curry (foot) is out for the Warriors.

Marvin 12 rebounds. WTF?

Josh probably had Larry Drew jacked up in the corner of the locker room to keep him from coming out and telling more lies to Dominique and Rathman, who seemed to be shocked themselves. This guy should just say, you know guys, I’m over my head! Dang! Switch seats with Dominique for crying out loud!

Josh: every time you got the ball about 18-20 ft, you could hear the crowd chant-NO!, NO! NO!..but you got no post up moves, so your defender just held his ground, and then you shot that sick aass dumb ball jumper that clanked. You just don’t get it, son.

say what you want but LD’s motion offense sure did work a lot better with jamal. heh heh
man, we are having a difficult time scoring the ball without jamal and al. guys are playing hard but just a bit overmatched if jj isnt on and josh able to stay in the block or get lucky from the field. that is our formula as teague is not going to carry this team.
i was hoping for 6-7 in february and thinking it was going to be more like 4-9. sadly i think more losses are coming and only see about 15 more wins max with the tough schedule in march.

I think that JT played one hell of a defensive game tonight as he does often. When some great pg scores around him you read a lot of crap against him. He is a great defensive player.

doc,
“say what you want but LD’s motion offense sure did work a lot better with jamal. heh heh”
Even you realize that, and I know you were not a Jamal fan. LOL

Rod – Agreed, we can’t score. I coached a couple of teams like that. Great athletes. Near Olympic athletes. Tremendous D. Could sky for rebounds.
They just could not put the ball in the hoop. You need 3 scorers at crunch time according to most College Coaches – Coach K notwithstanding.
Now I know we’re playing pro ball here – but with JJ going down – and you have to say he’s heading down – we have no one except Jeff Teague who even looks like he’s capable of being a scoring threat, unless Josh is on that nite.
Green’s been on fire some of late, and been doing well at crunch time.
TMac was to begin the season – where’s he been?
PS – Green has a sprained back? – not good. Or is it just back tightness?
Sautee – I’ll take 10-9 in March right now – that would be almost unbelievable. And then we have a couple of 3 day off’s in April, and end on a 5 game home stand.
Yep, I’ll take 10-9

We’re now closer to the 8th seed and Orlando continues to stretch their lead on us.
What do we do? We start the same 5 and there is zero energy despite the spirited practice session?
Tonight’s team looked no different than the per-Hawks team that was tired and had a tough schedule….blah, blah…no one stepping up for this team.
It’s not about Al, and as long as LD and Sund are here, I’m not sure anything will change for the better.

I can not wait until Horford returns. Hope he is healthy enough to be traded….

This team would win with the right balance, but LD have turn his head away from that.
Teague, Joe, Tmac, Josh, Zaza
Pargo, Green, Marvin, Ivan, Dampier
Vlad, Stack, Hinrich.
Team adjustment has to be made if LD going save his job.

ASG shafted the fans on this LD thing. LD went in and convinced these guys that he wasnt Woodson and they bought it, and the lower salary. Woodson was a beast with the Hawks in his control, and probably told ASG if you dont get some players, typically a true center for me…yada yada yada…ASG did not like this guy trying to muscle them, and got rid of him. And we are suffering dearly. Get Woody back here ASG, then take your IPads and leave town!

The Hawks must stay big at all time with Dampier replacing Zaza at center.
Every night Hawks are out rebounded on the boards because of lack of size inside.

You can’t not start Marvin because as Steve Holman said on the radio, “Marvin doing his traditional thing, being the last man to come on the floor at the beginning of the game.” LOL
